Re: Is this Racist?

I do not think it's racist. I was curious what others thought of the story.

I think it's a great story.

Out of all the things liberals/progressives do that the think all should tolerate, it's good I think to periodically do something they don't like.

I'll bet most these same people who disapprove and complain about such a story approve of disrespecting Bush, Reagan, etc.

Re: Is this Racist?

So how does one show their disapproval of the man while respecting the office?

They disrespected his library. Not the White house... Outhouses all across America have been disrespected I think.

Re: Is this Racist?

I wouldn't call it racist but it is indicative of the current culture of the grassroots GOP that has driven me, a republican to vote democrat in recent years. I'll probably continue to do so until it changes.

I too have been disillusioned with the GOP but not because of things like this. It hasn't driven me into the arms of the Democrats though. That would be like eating dog poop off your front lawn because you didn't like what your wife made for dinner.

Re: Is this Racist?

Absulutely.

Just ask any liberal/progressive.

I am a racist because I don't like Obama's politics.

I will be a sexist when I start opposing Hillary's politics.[/QUOT

None of that makes you a racist in and of itself. You know better, and please stop trivializing the racism that he has faced: he's not really one of us, he's a Muslim, he wasn't born here, the racist cartoons, etc. are racist and this float certainly has racial undertones - BUT as I said, who gives a ^&%$ what the Governor of Nebraska thinks let alone some bigots in Nebraska who have nothing better to do than this %^&* and picking and eating their snots all day ...

Re: Is this Racist?

So some part of you deep down does care for something about Nebraska. :2razz:

if we all dig down deep enough we may even care about something in Oklahoma and Mississippi ...

Re: Is this Racist?

Not only is it not racist-its highly appropriate for the what America has determined the worst president since WW2.

Re: Is this Racist?

No, and it never has been. Would you drop the victim act?

That might carry more weight if numerous news organizations and the state Democratic Party weren't calling it one of the "worst shows of racism and disrespect for the office of the presidency that Nebraska has ever seen."

here is the thing......much of the disrespect that has been shown this President seems to have an undertone of Racism...real or imagined. Even at the height of dislike for past Presidents people didn't shout out in State of the Union addresses, question his patriotism or even his parentage, etc. A history of powerful black men confronting subtle racism is well known so I can understand if some people think that racism helped motivate this horrible display. But I don't see it as such and I am guess most people don't. Was it stupid terrible and cowardly? Yes. Racist... meh.......

I know that perfectly well. I was pointing out that the left is chronically trivializing real racism by calling anything it can racism.

Real racism is very ugly.

Please stop trivializing it.

he's not really one of us, he's a Muslim, he wasn't born here, the racist cartoons, etc. are racist
You will find far more dirty politics, jokes, slander, etc. against the likes of McCain, Bush (43), Palin, etc.

It's politics as usual.

and this float certainly has racial undertones -
No it doesn't. This same float could apply to any white president that people think are full of feces.

Your seeing it in that manner reflects your own racial bias. Not mine.

BUT as I said, who gives a ^&%$ what the Governor of Nebraska thinks let alone some bigots in Nebraska who have nothing better to do than this %^&* and picking and eating their snots all day ...
Really?

Are you familiar with the organization that sponsored the parade?

Your ignorance is now showing.

Re: Is this Racist?

Was it stupid terrible and cowardly? Yes.

When is the last time you said such a sentiment when liberals exercise their freedom of speech that upsets conservatives?

Some would say they didn't disrespect the presidency. They disrespected outhouses.

I'm afraid the ignorance is mostly yours ... you have virtually no understanding of racism, do you? If you don't say "Let's hang the n***er" before you hang him, it ain't racism, is it?
BTW, my comment about Nebraska is tongue in cheek to say that this kind of thing is not all that important. We live in a country that is still very racist. It's to be expected.

Does that apple taste like an orange?

Where are the racial words at in the float?

Could that same float apply to a woman or white president?

LOL. The key for me is I don't see voting democrat as that repulsive. Rather I see it as the ice cream truck coming down the street and to teach my own kids a lesson, I buy every kid in the neighbor ice cream except my own.

Not that I think they're the best ideas ever either. I could write out a list of the things the GOP claims are destroying America, the republicans did first and few people complained at the time. Increasing the debt ceiling over and over again. Deficit spending. Lying to the American public and when the GOP did it it was usually over things that cost lives. Bailing out Wall Street. Bailing out the auto industry. Giving amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants (something the democrats haven't even done.) And this is just what I can think of off the top.

Himmm I am not sure........but that doesn't change what this is right?

Re: Is this Racist?

And they are what is wrong with this country.

over the past two or three years I've had to explain this countless of times and I'm tired of doing it ... but let me ask you this instead or as another way of explaining it - if you call a white man "boy" is it the same thing as calling a black man "boy" ... You're missing the historical context of all this %^$# ... If you put a monkey's face on Obama is it the same as putting one on Bush's?

Re: Is this Racist?

No but they both taste like fruit.

Where are the racial words at in the float?
Irrelevant, the question is that if it perceived in a way due to a pattern it doesn't have to be explicit. If a guy punches a person of Asian decent in a bar, then we have no reason to believe it is racist. If a guy did it for the fifth time in a month and has not punched anyone else then we can ask the question.

Could that same float apply to a woman or white president?

That is not the standard if it is racist and why did you include women? Do you not understand what race is?

Pretty much all of that is nonsense if you hold even a slightly less partisan view of the world. It's doubtful if we've ever had a single POTUS who hasn't had their patriotism questioned. Plenty of people have had parentage questioned too. Maybe not to the extent of Pres. Obama but then again his situation is very unique in this country's history and he didn't exactly go out of his way to clear up the issue, which is because it clearly worked to his political advantage. I don't know that anyone has ever shouted out in a State of the Union address but it's almost certainly happened before and I don't know why that's (1) especially bad or (2) especially racist. I mean, people egged Pres. Bush at his inauguration. Does that mean Democrats hate white people?

People have criticized sitting (and past) POTUS since Washington was first sworn in. Plenty of people criticized Washington long before he was sworn in. This is pretty much the first time in U.S. history where criticism of a sitting POTUS has been met with "... so you hate black people?!".

I see.

You don't believe that white men and black men are equal, or should be treated equal.

Maybe you are the racist!

What about the black man that calls me a cracker, or some other racial expression?

Why is that OK?

I'm sorry, but if you truly want equal rights, then we need equal treatment. Not this half-baked double standard.

With the total disregard for logic and truth that liberals exhibit today I'm surprised they didn't just go for broke and claim that this float is part of the GOPs "war on women."

Re: Is this Racist?

Yes, I do understand.

Apparently you do not understand that the material an outhouse collects, signifying someones collection of their future library, can apply to any sex or any color.

What evidence is there for this to be racism?

Perception?

If the answer is perception, then those who perceive it as such should check their own racial biases.

Go ahead and float that strawman out there then. It would make as much sense as anything else you've said in here.
