It is their money that they already paid in. Why would you not try and get the money you were forced to pay in back. It is absolutely not hypocritical to try and get back some of your own money.

Yeah, that's great we'd have the "founding principles" but no union. The Constitution would be nothing more than an interesting historical footnote in our history.

It is hypocritical to collect the money when you don't believe the system should exist. There is no getting around that.

His goals didn't allow the US to overcome the great depression, unless he sat on the knowledge that Pearl Harbor was going to be bombed, no matter how noble they may have been. Anyone who believes otherwise is delusional.

Could they have opted out?

If you are forced to pay into something with the assumption that your contribution will be returned to you at the end, it isn't hypocritical to look for your own money back, especially when you have no choice in the first place. The government compels us to contribute.

Eisenhower isn't on the list but I would rank him a lot higher than Reagan (Who could have been impeached for some of the things that he did.)

I would rank Reagan somewhere in the middle with Clinton and Kennedy.

While I don't agree with you I'd still rather have "meh" than a president intent on usurping our rights and expanding the government's power at every chance that comes along.

It's way too early to rank Obama, I believe that eventually he will be ranked somewhere in the middle, not great but not terrible either.
