It requires no physical exertion. You can probably burn more calories playing wii sports.

I am pretty sure her work-outs don't include playing wii sports :2razz::

As do I. When younger I enjoyed playing it, but hated watching it.

Same with golf.

I only like watching my kids play soccer. Watching grown ups play it is painful.

Agree 100% on the golf thing. I love golf and could play all day. I'd rather watch Showgirls again than watch golf on television.

I like watching the World Cup. Soccer is more about strategy and planning more than brute strength or just scoring. If you look at it like that, it's one of the most interesting sports to watch. And IMHO, that's why it's the most popular sport in the world, second only to sex.

There's a theory that soccer is popular because it's the cheapest port around. It doesn't cost much to learn how to kick a ball or set up a net.

boring game, have never watched one and never will. BORING

Like the kid said, "I never had that before. I don't like it!"
One of the best sports events I've ever seen was a soccer game, a Champions League game between Celtic and Barcelona. Game was in Glasgow and both teams play a beautiful, attacking style of fitba. The result was Celtic 2-3 Barcelona and by the end of the game the Celtic supporters were chanting, "Barca! Barca!" and the visiting Spaniards were chanting, "Celtic! Celtic!" It was a wonderful game.
Having said that, you're also liable (if you watch Italian teams) to see this...

Yes. Greatest single sporting event on the planet enjoyed by billions.

Scoring does not mean more interesting games. Look at basketball: lots of scoring, and less exciting than watching your toenails grow. In fact, basketball is about the only sport as boring as soccer.

Ironic coming from someone who watches a sport where you can't even see the puck half the time and they break up the play with fights just to keep the crowd interested.

I have watched soccer several times before. I wanted so bad to enjoy it. Especially since my son enjoyed playing the game and was quite good at it. I went to all the games. I was a soccer dad who supported his son all the way. I watched the international games on TV with him and his friends over at my house too many times to count.

Now he is grown with kids of his own. I don't think that he even watches the games anymore.

So, in short, after it is all said and done, I gave soccer the good ol' college try but I still find it to be an incredibility boring game. In fact, it kinda sucks in my opinion.

Perhaps the NFL has spoiled me. I have my Green Bay Packers. How could soccer possibly compete with that?

Reading through this thread is amusing to say the least. Nothing makes you more merican than hating that dirty commie sport " soccer". Fact is though its one of the fastest growing sports in America, its now ranked 3rd in average attendances, NBC bought all the rights to English Prem games because of the demand and US world cup games will get over 30 million tv views.

You don't have to like "Soccer" but I have never understood the blind hate just because. In 20 years time based on the amount of kids playing and the growing Latino population in the US "Soccer" will be one of the biggest sports in the country.

To me the NFL has grown to be the best sport ever....Soccer would not even be in my top 10.

Completeley different sports and hard to compare. I love both sports for different reasons.

Globally however the NFL can't compete with FIFA.

Which is fine I have no problem with anyone thinking its boring. Just don't understand the hatred towards it displayed in this thread and others like it. I don't hate any sport I just like some more than others.

It doesn't look like anyone here has especially strong feelings against soccer. You just kind of go ape **** anytime someone says something negative about your favorite sport. I don't see why you care so much. Plenty of people find baseball as boring as soccer but it doesn't affect my enjoyment of either.

Oh please I counted at least 4 Nationalistic posts which is what it all comes down to for me. As someone who is married to an American who loves "Soccer" I find such comments inaccurate and absurd.

There is a big difference from not liking the sport and hating it my friend.

Well, I think Justin Beiber sucks too but that don't mean I "hate," him.

Well, maybe I do.

You might have a valid point after all. :peace

I don't intend to watch it. I watch the Super Bowl because I have lots of football nuts in my family. I watch basketball once in awhile. But soccer---nah.

Since the NBA stole our team here in Seattle and moved it to Oklahoma City I don't watch the NBA anymore... I do watch College ball and enjoy it very much.

USA is playing on ESPN right now [currently half-time].

Good game so far. Ghana have spent most of the second half in the USA end of the field. They're building up to an equaliser.
