Should active duty military trust a GOP Prez to work for their release if captured?

Should the military trust a GOP President if becoming a POW?

With all the hand wrangling, finger pointing, deleted prayers and well wishes by active GOP elected officials. Should active duty military personnel just assume if captured and a GOP President hold office that they are just a write off on the "War on Terror?"

Personally as someone who did his 4 years in mostly peacetime I would have some serious reservations enlisting today considering how the GOP is behaving about Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl calling him a deserter. I am also curious why the Army didn't classify him as one.

I'd probably trust the government a lot less as a military member knowing they released five guys dedicated to the destruction of American life based on the pretty uncomforting rationalization that they can always get them back if they need to (y'know, like how we've brought the perpetrators of the Benghazi murders to justice just as Obama said we would).

Btw, it's fellow military members and their families that are the ones speaking out about Bergdahl. Sometimes, details do matter.

Well here is the thing, I didn't join the military because I felt I could trust the president if I became a POW. I joined the military because I felt I was serving my country. The fact remains **** happens and a solider, sailor, airman or Marine recognizes that. Lots of decision making can go bad in the battlefield that can result in death or capture.

I would have reservations about joining the military not because of a possible POW status, but because of our foreign policies in general.

Not true. Lots of GOP Twitter pages have had tweets welcoming the Sgt home removed. I will be glad to provide a link backing this up if you want.

Impossible to answer until the next GOP POTUS is elected.

IMO, the military should be FAR more worried about their own dying in useless wars then if their POW's will be traded for terrorists.

Yes, but not through negotiation.

Bergdahl was classified as a deserter or whatever they call it now. The search/rescue mission was called off BECAUSE he deeserted.

I don't think that a serviceman would have to fear a R prez

The problem is what was the reason for releasing FALN members?

Also, Holder's law firm reprersents more Gitmo detainees than any other law firm in the USA
