The only thing I could think of that the world MIGHT owe me for being born is air. Maybe water too. But it's up to me to breathe and carry my own water. And even then, I'm not sure that "owe," is the right word.

BUT does the world owe you anything just because you are here?

So you're saying "the world" doesn't owe you anything but the part of the world that you live in does?

Seems convenient, since you'll never ask "the world" as a whole for anything anyway since that's pretty much impossible for someone to do but you'll ask a lot of the part of the world you're in.

Not a God damn thing...

I was raised that the world does not owe you a thing so get out there and work for what you want. Others seem to have been raised to feel that they are owed something simply because they were born. This debate on health care is a good example of that. My feeling is that if you want health care then get a job and buy insurance while others think you deserve health care just because. I don't get it.

The World does not owe you anything...but isn't awesome that the community in which you chose to live has helped you attain utilities, fire and police protection, public education, and medical services. God love the USA.

I think the world owes me anything that was stolen and returned to the rightful owner; me if applicable or just compensation to settle the debt. I think the world owes me freedom. I think the world owes me an even playing field and equal protection under the law without undue and unfair discrimination. I think when it comes to natural resources that have diminishing and limited supply should be public property (and I'm a member of the public) and their consumption intelligently regulated.

No not particularly. Individuals or institutions may owe me something. For example I work and so long as I am employed there I am owed a paycheck. But the world in general? Nope

Weird rambling post that makes no sense.

If you don't believe you are owed anything by anyone, how could you claim you were the victim of an injustice? What basis do you have for thinking you are owed justice?

Laws give you recourse for criminal acts. Just being born though entitles you to nothing beyond protection of laws we all live under. If you want steak instead of beans earn it.

The world does not owe you anything, however people are entitled to access the natural resources that exist in nature to facilitate their sustenance. When governments do things like protect private property, they limit access to those natural resources. In return for the power to do this, people have the right to expect that the government gives them something in return that guarantees if they want to work for their sustenance, that there is a reasonable chance that they can do so. A government that does not do this is merely a thief that robs people of their right to the resources in the environment.

I would disagree that you are entitled to anything just for being born. Entitlement is earned by you or those who came before you.Our constitution in America entitles us to certain things but we have to be on constant guard that someone doesn't take those hard earned rights

I disagree with you. Just being born entitles you to be able to use the natural resources of the Earth for your sustenance. A government that interferes with someone's right to do so, without giving anything in exchange is a thief.

Who or what grants you this? It's a mean world and you have to fight for every bone.

So you should have to fight the government to survive? What gives the government the right to restrict you from surviving?

So the world does owe you some kind of entitlement, just not to steak?
