You needed more options since many people lean neither left nor right. I picked leaning left because if I lean on a wall or whatever I like to keep my gun ( right ) hand unobstructed.

I also picked that I keep no gun by my bed because I keep 3 guns by my bed.

Your poll is too simplistic.
Your answer is to complex. You over think everything don't you.

So you live in a fortress? Sure you do. Everyone that says your same thing says that about their home. "cant get in my home". BS, I could get in your home in a heart beat.
:lamo

Yeah right superman. How are you going to do that?

Yea, you think you are strong and bad ass. Till you meet someone stronger and more bad ass.
I didn't say anything about being a bad ass. Strong, yes. It is a requirement for cement masons. You cannot perform the work unless you are strong. That's why no women or weak men are cement masons.

I think you just plastered him with that argument. You offered a concrete example to support the position you have constructed!

I do but then again I have a loaded gun in every room in my house.

EDIT: I'm interested in how your politics relates to this decision too.

If I have a gun in my house and where it is kept is not a concern of anybody but the people living in my house hold. That is some thing that I would never announce, would not want possible intruders to know that information. Giving away that you are unarmed in the house or how much fire power you have puts you at a real disadvantage

Absolutely. He did not bull float or screte around the bush either.

Before I view the poll or read the responses I'll bet that maybe 5% of the general population does, but 98% of DPers do.

You have a duty and responsibility to be ready and prepared to defend yourself, family and home.

That might be the case...but not ever case. If you were away from your home and someone, god forbid, got past your excellent home defense and stole from you...you would be a victim whether you sleep with a firearm or not.

Threre are tons of options a home owner can employ for their home defense other than sleeping with a firearm...all ready to protect their home and family.

I levels of defense to where someone is able to get past the first two, they are not going to catch me napping in my bed or empty handed.

I answered lean right and keep a gun by my bed, but that only applied to when I lived in the US. I unfortunately had to sell it when I moved to the EUSSR.

I used to always keep it right above my head behind my mattress. It was nice knowing that I could handle just about any situation that arises, instead of now where I just hope nobody wants to break in because if they do me and my family are ****ed. (Thanks Germany)

can you deploy Rabid Alpacas as a first line of defense in your current domicile?

why is that?

Because he plays the role of a radical hyper-extremist (or perhaps he actually is one), with a hint of being one good fart away from blowing a major gasket and becoming a danger to himself, and/or others.

Maybe that's not exactly how he is, but that's the way he presents himself on any gun topic where someone gives an honest and genuine answer to anything he doesn't agree with.

It's that exact kind of aggressive extremism that pushes people away from the side you wish people to be on.

Theoretically yes, but I have a 100 lb doberman that sleeps at my feet, so I hope that most invaders would rather just pick a neighbor that doesn't have a big dog.

This is about when you are home asleep and in bed, not the other million things that could happen.

On the other hand, compromising with the anti gun side is worthless. You have a point concerning CC because his posts sometimes attacks pro gun posters but you cannot support controls that target honest owners and claim to be pro gun

Or men with half a brain. I know concrete guys that are full on crack heads.

And we can agree to disagree too. Simple as that.

No, you either support the 2A or you don't. Simple. IF you do not support the 2A then you don't support the Bill of Rights or the constitution.
You are the type person that would make a great subject rather than citizen.

I concur with that

So far it's about half.

I used to keep a sawed-off shotgun within arms length while I was sleeping at my house on the north end here in Toledo, but I just don't see any reason to in this house. It's very secure. And I rarely shoot anymore so I keep all my guns locked up. As I mentioned before, a lot of youngsters hang out here a lot. My 13 year old niece and her friends. I'm not worried about my niece being around guns, she's educated in the safe handling of firearms, it's her friends that she brings over that I don't know about. Before my brother & niece moved in just down the street a little over a block away I'd have guns laying around all the time. But now that kids are around all the time my habit is to keep them locked away.

Nope, don't own a gun and haven't for many years. I don't see the point. I just live where it's safe.

Till its no long safe. That could be 100 years from now, or 10 minutes. Best to have and never need, than to need and not have.

It's safe now. I don't even lock the doors most of the time. I'll worry about having a gun when it's actually not safe.
