Yes. I am aware of that. What educational changes need to be made in order to facilitate education for blacks? They have been attending the same school systems as set up in this country for over a half century now (at least). If they aren't learning as the rest of us are, then what needs to be done?

Despite court decisions, most schools are still segregated and the poorest children get the worst schools, despite having the greatest needs. There is also the fact that in most cases the school curriculum has little to do with their daily reality outside of school.

Solutions: Fund schools based on their needs, not the prosperity of their area. Also, longer school days, more cultural competence and relevance, intelligent use of video and compter technology to grab kid's interest, bring back school libraries, art, music, theater etc. Pay teachers more and eliminate the ones that fail to teach effectively, even if they are making an effort. It should not be easy to become a teacher, we should weed out bad teachers while they are in college getting their Education degree, rather than after they have failed on the job.

These measures are expensive, but it is cheaper than continuing to feed kids into the criminal "justice' system.

They need to have teachers that know how to reach them, that are very motivated, that are compassionate and care about them. They need smaller class sizes and more individualized instruction. They need to work longer hours in school and have more days of instruction during a given school year. They need to be around people who are very good role models. They need to have access to computers, to educational software and to people who are actually doing the type of work that makes a difference in society so that they can see how the education they are receiving can make a difference in their lives.

Most public schools in the USA are funded with property taxes. More prosperous school districts are well funded and poor school districts are under-funded. The most significant problem with under-funded schools is that they do not attract and/or retain good teachers. From what I've seen, the political party that most blacks vote for are largely opposed to one of the things which would help their children get into better schools: vouchers. It doesn't look to me like their preferred party is really too concerned about the education of blacks as a group. In fact, a great improvement in their educational status may be a net loss to democrats, as a good number of well-educated, and more intellectual blacks seem to be inclined toward voting for republicans.

It appears to me that they mostly need parents who are more involved in their children's education, and who push and demand that their children excel.

I painted nothing I showed you raw footage of black ghettos that were destroyed by its own community. Selling crack, gang banging, robbing, raping, burning down businesses. People are too scared to even open businesses there. Not because they are racist but because they are scared for their lives.

No that is what you are saying and it is very racist. Both of my parents were teachers. They were very, very good teachers. Not only that, but many of their very good friends were good black teachers. In fact my mother handpicked her friends to teach me, at least through elementary school. And another fact, that I know is the truth because my father was in school administration. When they started integrating schools in the south, they took the good blacks teachers from the black schools and sent them to the white schools. They took the sorry white teachers from the white schools and sent them to the black schools. That is a fact. I know because both my mother and father and their friends were very, very pissed off about it.

We have debated the topic of vouchers extensively previously. I am against vouchers because they will make the current problems and inequalities worse.

I tell you what. I bet I know more about math that you will ever know. I learned math from black teachers. My mother was one of the best teachers in the state where I'm from. Schools were dying to get her to come and teach in her area. No one could touch her in her field of expertise. I don't want to hear that crap about they need white teachers. It's total BS.

I imagine they don't have to make much effort to take the good black teachers and send them to white schools, many probably can not resist getting paid more to work with less challenging students in a better equipped and maintained school.

I am not aware that the black race is growing faster than any other race. But the black race does have a significant problem with 70% of births being born to single mothers. Now that is a problem. For a single mother more times than not ends up on the government dole. Once you get someone on the government dole they become addicted to free money. It's free to them through benefits but it sure as heck ain't free to the taxapayers that have to pick up the tab. The party that promises more freebies is the one that secures the vote of those receiving such benefits.

Well times have changed, and that was the very segregated south at that time. My point was that there are good black teachers and the notion that person was putting forward that blacks need white teachers was absurd.

I'm always asking questions. That's just the way I am. My understanding is that the black population is growing at a faster rate than the white population. Do you have some data that disputes that?

Not to mention that if that happens, we're all going to be a bunch of disease-ridden runts because most people of mixed racial groups inherit the disease susceptibility of both races. Not exactly good for the species.
 
Changing demographics will mean more power for blacks, hispanics and asians. How that will effect actual policy is harder to predict. As people settle into this country and/or change their level of prosperity and amount of political power their priorities and political views change.

Like I stated earlier I have not seen any data that claims the black population is growing faster. If that is your claim, maybe you should produce the data. But I do have the data that shows that 70% of all black babies born in this country where many are not being provided for by their fathers but by their Uncle Sam.

Why do you refuse to address the 70% birth rate to single moms? Is that because of racism too?
