Gary Johnson wasn't in the GOP primary debates. He wasn't a Republican...

Gary Johnson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On April 21, 2011 Johnson announced via Twitter, "I am running for president."[65] He followed this announcement with a speech at the New Hampshire State House in Concord, New Hampshire.[12] He was the first of an eventually large field to announce his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination.[66]

Johnson participated in the first of the Republican presidential debates, hosted by Fox News in South Carolina on May 5, 2011, appearing on stage with Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty, and Rick Santorum.

Ah, that's an interesting bit of information. I didn't know that.

What he did was similar to Ron Paul in that he was widely known as a Libertarian Party member or at least had a libertarian bent but ran for President as a Republican.

Well he didn't run as a Republican. He ran as a Libertarian. But I didn't know he had attempted to get the Republican nomination first.

I voted for him in the last election, but did so with one hand holding my nose and I hope like hell he never runs again.

Gary Johnson came across as a legit candidate in the beginning. Not a contender...because lets be honest...no Libertarian party candidate is going to be a contender for a looooooong time. When he ran as a republican he was the candidate I wanted to see as Libertarian. Then, he switched parties and became the Libertarian candidate (which I think was a mistake. Wayne Alan Root was the front runner and a much more serious candidate). As soon as Johnson because the Libertarian candidate for president, everything about his message and presentation changed. He became the hippy hipster candidate trying to appeal to the college crowd...and embodied every stereotype that people rightly use against the Libertarian party.

As of now, 57% said 'yes'...that's encouraging for America's future, IMO.

I doubt Johnson will ever sit in the Oval Office...but the vote gives me a bit of hope for America some day.

Would you vote for Gary Johnson? If not, is there any circumstance in which you might consider it?

I probably wouldn't vote for him. The only scenario where I might consider it is if it was a two person race against someone worse. If it was somehow Johnson vs. Warren or perhaps something weirder like a Johnson vs. Sanders I'd probably hold my nose and vote for Johnson.

I think he does since he brings liberal issues to the table that Democrats are starting to lack in. Anti-war, pro marijuana legalization, pro gay, anti-corporatist. If he gets in the debates, it's all over for the Dems and Reps.
 Or so the rallying call goes.

The board has far more libertarians than the general public, and poll results here are rarely anything like what real world poll results are like. And support for Johnson would be a discouraging sign for America's future.
