Which would you rather have?

Which would you rather have?

I guess I don't hate other people either. It's just very frustrating when people claim that they are against a government policy because it is a bad policy yet what they are really against is their own losses.

Except they really are against the policy because it's bad policy. It's bad policy because it causes people to lose what they earn.

That kind of hypocracy is very aggravating. If people hated income taxes really really bad, they would reduce their income. That is why I created this poll. I created this poll to offer an outlet to all the helpless victims that pay too much in income taxes. I gave them an opportunity to pretend for a second that they are sticking it to the government by paying no income taxes yet nobody is taking me up on the offer.

It is very evident that people who complain about taxes are completely dishonest about their attitude toward taxes. It is their attitude towards money which has nothing to do with government policies or the decisions of the government to operate the country.

It's just so gross to see how horrible these people are. I wanted to sift them out and bring them to the light.

It is the people who ran their mouth in this thread but refused to vote. That is where all the liars are at. They don't really hate taxes as much as they pretend.

These type of people are completely disgusting and filthy. It is fun to wash away their filth with this poll.

You are hopelessly lost in a world of envy and disconnected logic. Let me help you out. Very few people hate taxes as much as you think they pretend to and very few people pretend to hate taxes. People do hate the IRS. They hate the tax code ("code" being the operative word). They hate dishonest politicians. They hate that their earnings are being spent to sell and prop up other bad policies that add more code to the code. There are plenty of things related to taxes that people like me hate. The tax itself isn't it.

In short, the premise is wrong, the poll is meaningless, and everything the thread accomplished is a mirage.

Why on Earth would anyone vote a)?

a) you make $30K after taxes.

b) you make $125K after taxes.

You mean two people would rather make $30K then $125K?

Weird.

if you want people to be successful, then you do not punish success. This last one is a principle that is violated not only by the current income tax system but by many of our "social safety net" systems.

:bs Nope. It doesn't.

That isn't weird at all. Lots of people hate income taxes because it disincentivizes people to work.

What is weird that there wasn't more people voting A.

The thread has two honest poor people.

I chose 30k. 250k requires way too many qualifications and way too much work. Paying half my income in taxes, with that workload, is nonsense.

I admire a man with integrity that always votes his conscience.

I disagree with your choice but I have a great respect for you. It is inspiring to see someone that is consistent with their beliefs.:congrats:

So a lot of people hate income taxes so much that they would rather make $30K then $125K?

Nonsense...that's just nuts.

It's nothing to do with taxes..it's to do with standard of living.

What decent family provider says: no, I want my family to suffer on $30K rather then in $125K?

A crappy one.

people who pay zero taxes should generally be precluded from having any say as to tax rates or the expenditures of tax revenues

I personally believe that every single person should pay a minimum of 1% in taxes. I believe this would generate a lot of revenue and give all citizens a sense of dignity and patriotism that currently lacks. Why do you think it is fair for citizens to be denied the right to vote just because the government decided that they shouldn't pay any taxes? Is there any logic in your claim? The people who are fortunate enough to be exempt from federal income taxes didn't make the decision.

(of course not, why did I ask)

Noted.

Noted....weird, but noted.

I believe anyone making 30k has made that choice, disabilities aside. Why can't people be honest?

Do you think the people who say things like this are complete liars? or is it something completely different?

Lots of people think that the graduated income tax is wrong. Have you never seen comments from them in other threads?

I didn't say you could not answer...I said it was weird...and it is.

Pretty selfish too, if you have a family.

The question is simply how much money would you rather make. It did not say how you made it. You could have made it being rich and have all your money in non-capital gains investments or you could work as a token lawyer in your father's law firm - so you barely work but make decent money and so on...

The question simply said how much...it said nothing about how you made it.

Prove your claim. Offer someone who makes $30,000 a job making $250,000. Then let us know what happens.

You're ignoring the work required. Everyone making 30k is capable of making six figures, but they have chosen otherwise. For me, it's simply not worth it. I'm ok with 30k, I'm not ok with the high-speed no-drag 60+ hours a week, life poured into work lifestyle needed to make six figures.

Why can't people be honest and admit that their income is a result of choices they've made? Anyone making 30k and claiming they'd rather make six figures is lying. They could, they've chosen not to.

Some of us are ok with it. Can you give a list of these companies that don't kick you out of the door at 39 hours? You know, the ones where you turned down the job?

Oh, I see. This is fantasy world where a six figure job requires the same effort and commitment as a 30k job.

Ok, in fantasy world where I can work 40 hour weeks and have my evenings to myself and still make six figures... sure.

Taxes are irrelevant.

The question is would you rather live well on 125K take home or barely scrape by on 30K.

To want to barely scrape by is weird.

That's not the question. The question is regarding ones lifestyle, and if one is willing to live the lifestyle of a six figure income.

No guys. This was already addressed.

In scenario A the job is wonderful, easy, in the best location, working with the best people imaginable with no qualifications.

In scenario B the job is horrible, difficult, in the worst place, working with a**holes and jerks with no qualifications.

The first job is great. The second job sucks.

No, that was not the question....that is how you interpreted the question.

And considering over 90% voted 2), I would say you interpreted it incorrectly or, at least, in a weird way.

I am not going around and around on this with you.

Most people would rather take home 125K rather then 30K...the poll proves it.

You disagree...fine.

Good day.

Let's not be surprised when 90% of people don't put the thought an ape is capable of into an answer.
