Would you vote for Rand Paul?

Would you vote for Rand Paul in 2016?

It seems the Kochs have taken the lead to win the Senate.
And adelson has taken the lead to keep out the TEAs from the POTUS nomination.

We're getting more and more folks on here from your state lately it seems.
The epicenter of the ACA debate with a DEM Southern governor and six states with conservative regions surrounding your west, north and east.
McC up in 2014 and Paul in 2016 and Beshear term-limited next year.

I still don't see Grimes beating the wily McC, which means Paul will have a strong platform to run on for 2016 if the GOPs take the Senate .

Hey, the Koch's were cringing about a government shutdown, for good reason too, as most business-persons would. Why in the world would anyone with that much money and power welcome a gov't shutdown?

The nature of how the Tea Party movement works likely precludes a "Tea Party candidate" from winning the nomination for the Presidency unless said individual has cross-over appeal to other constituents within the Republican Party. This is because the Tea Party movement's messages that are actually consistently unifying across the entire movement cover a very limited scope of the actual issues that are relevant to an actual election and political parties platform. On a local level, or in more localized national elections like that for the House, this works wonderfully as you have the potential for multiple candidates that share a common view on certain core issues but whose surrounding issues can be tailored to the region in question. On a national election however, it's far harder to mobilize the entire movement in support of a singular individual. This is because in a Republican Primary for president there are likely MULTIPLE individuals who fit the bill of the Tea Parties views on those narrow "core" issues, and thus individuals are more likely to throw their support behind people based on their views on the more varied list of secondary issues.
Let me take this first paragraph.
Paul is aware of which states have "open" primaries.
Young voters, Democrat and Independent, are fed up with the Clintons also.
Many of them are OWS who are attracted to Paul's anti-federal NSA/anti-war/leave my ****ing cell-phone alone .

McConnell's biggest threat is that he is being challenged by Bevin, a Tea Party candidate that has labeled McConnell as a liberal for compromising on the budget. If Bevin loses the primary, there is talk he will run as an Independent or else a write-in. If this happens, McConnell will indeed be vulnerable as a split Republican vote could spell disaster for him and give Grimes the edge she would need.

In regards to the Governor, I have met and actually traveled with Beshear on a Trade Mission to Canada and I like him for the most part, though some of his policies I find lack luster. Kentucky is an unusual state in that we statistically stay with a Democrat Governor and the State legislator stays in the GOP hands. Thus, if a decent Democrat arises for the 2015, I feel they will definitely take the governorship.

Out of the current field of potential candidates, absolutely.

Something still nags at me that dirty Harry has made a deal with McC for both of them to keep their current jobs in 2015.

My question here is does Kentucky have a sore-loser law like some RED states.
With a DEM governor in KY, this can't happen it seems.

We saw the effects of Murkowski losing the GOP primary in Alaska yet winning the general as a 3rd party.
Louisiana's jungle primary is a whole different animal.

It's hard to keep up with all the GOP 10th amendment laws, with a run-off guaranteed after the GOP Senate primary in Georgia.
Not sure about the five candidates in North Carolina.

How far to the right is Rand on social issues?
How pissed off are the Neo-Cons since Rand accused Cheney of starting a war to benefit Haliburton?

Yet Rand seems to be tacking far right on Immigration, learning from Rubio's mistake of trying something "normal".
Ans Paulites support the traitor Snowden, meaning I have to agree with Cheney on that one .

A lot of people want to see him on the GOP ticket in 2016. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat - just wondering how everyone else leans in regards to Paul...

Poll soon to follow.

It would really depend on the full platform, but I wouldn't rule him out. Of all the Republicans he's the one I'd be most likely to vote for.

Kentucky does not have any laws forbidding running as a third party after losing a primary that I have ever been aware of. Personally, I think it is time for McConnell to retire, he represents one of the poorest states in the nation, yet continues to support legislation that ensures the state remains so. All the while he panders to Louisville and Lexington with earmarked federal tax dollars. What surprises me most as of late, is that in the compromise over the budget, he received a few billion for a bridge here in the state and no one has called him on it really.

Actually we did call Sen. McCon out for that bridge on dp.
I want an intelligent infrastructure bill, since it has about a 50-year lifespan, a capital expense.
Not to mention the ongoing jobs with necessary fixes and improvements.
Too bad this congress is so impotent.

In late March I was in Cairo, IL at the southern tip, the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi--awesome except those nasty smokestacks from KY.
Wind was blowing west and the smell was some foul organic.
My little dream is to drop a water pipeline from just south of this confluence all the way to Joplin, for starters,
and then eventually to the Glen Canyon and Hoover dams .

Over any Democrat I know of, yes, I would. Jon Huntsman is a better candidate though.

I agree with him (and most Libertarians) on foreign policy and in ending drug prohibition, but wanting to allow discrimination by businesses serving the public makes him unacceptable to me.

A far right position on immigration is what's needed. He's not as far to the right on social issues as he'd let you think. I hope the neocons have pissed themselves in anger. Cheney is the traitor. Snowden, most certainly isn't.

The coolest Paul was Les Paul. Followed by L.A. Clippers point guard Chris Paul.

I think you dead on, with Les Paul being the coolest Paul. Chris Paul.... not so much. I agree with Goshin I would vote for Rand Paul just to piss people off, but if he's on a ticket with Jeb Bush, then aint no way in hell. I will stay home.

One of the biggest problems with the GOP, but certainly not the only problem, is our inability to make Americans feel good about America. I'd say Paul is one of the chief promoters of this. I try to stay open minded up until almost the day I vote but if the election were today I don't think I'd vote for him.

Cheney almost his way, Snowden almost his way.
Until Rand renounces on social issues, he hasn't.
Until he says yes on CRA and VRA, he says no.

Rand wants his Libertarian on cell phones/NSA and eat his Conservative too with immigrate/social .

Maybe if your party stopped bashing what is wrong 24/7, they could feel better about America.
Vote for the GOP Health care plan in committee.
Stop giving monster tax cuts to the rich WHILE also cutting to the needy.
Close loopholes to GOP money men--the GOP which complains about the 16th amendment .
I'd say Paul is one of the chief promoters of this.

Mark this day when I told you Paul will steal the young from Clinton.
Rand will slip on over to SSM after the primaries, tacking left.
Etc .

What the hell are you talking about man?!?!?!?

Sounds like a winning combination to me...

Interesting. You're saying IF he wins the GOP nomination, right? I put him as a contender but I don't think he'll win the nomination. If Christie can weather Bridgegate, he's the nominee. I'd put Jeb Bush ahead of Paul too. My sources are telling me there's a plan to BEG Romney to run again too.

Would I vote for Rand Paul? Yes,I would. In a heartbeat!

at that precise moment when hell has finished freezing over.

It is terribly interesting to see the people complaining about Obama's lack of experience....getting behind an optometrist who has been in politics for a couple years and likely knows nothing whatsoever about foreign policy.

There is no possible way I would accept this guy as qualified.

More amazingly, he feels much as his father that America should become more isolationist.

I would consider casting my first Republican vote on Rand Paul. All the fearmongering over the idea that he would take away food stamps is silly.

He would help move the country in a more socially liberal direction. On the economy, though, I am less confident in him.

On the one hand, he's about the only politician to call out the NSA abuses and the drone program, and I could not agree more with him on those issues. Then he turns right around and says something I bitterly disagree with.

I would say "no."

His vulgar libertarian rhetoric can sometimes be cringe-worthy. I just think little-to-none of it would have any major impact in actual policy.
