It is time to become a great nation again.

Can't happen. The demographics of the US when it became a great nation are no longer the demographics of the US today.

With all due respect...when did the US have its "Great" phase? Meaning, was there a "more great" era?

There are too many people believing what George Carlin said.

Give up it's hopeless you started losing the minute you were born.

14 people believe there is validity in that message. Only two others besides me know that it is complete bull****

Yes it did. At one time our nation stood behind it's military, believed them to be hero's deserving of our reverence. At one time before our nation was born there were men that faced certain death in a futile attempt to gain independence from England. There were people that were slaves once that kicked against the picks for nearly a century and finally gained equality.

We once were people that would draw a line in the sand and say, no farther.

Now we live in a world where a clown makes 2.5mil telling you that it is hopeless. And the sad part of this, is his absurd preaching isn't even believed by him. Being a stand up comic isn't easy. Being as wealthy as Carlin was is even harder. He never believed for a moment that "they" were just going to take it all away. I feel sorry for the stooges that believe the hot air that he clearly didn't.

So yes there were times of greatness in our nation. The good news is that this time could be great also, the bad news is that our people have decided it won't be.

We can measure this is a few ways. One would be to analyze the gdp & gdp/cap gains made by the US relative to other nations over the course of its history. Another would be in its relative might in the international sphere. Another would be degree of social cohesion (was there a greater mixing of rich & poor in the public schools in the past compared to today.)

The US has had moments in her history that have shaked its resolve to its very core...If you feel we are now in some sort of lull, I just want you to know...I have seen worse.

The assaination of JFK, RFK, MLK. The awful ugliness of the civil rights movement, Vietnam, Protests of Vietnam, Watergate, 9/11.

Nothing in the last decade other than the almost collaspe of the economy comes close.

And that is just ****ing stupid. Demographics don't make a nation great. There is nothing about the demographics of the US that would prevent it from being great.

A nation is comprised of its people.

Mexico was richer than the United States at a per capita level back in the late 18th Century. As America started to stand on its own two feet, it caught up to Mexican wealth, then surpassed it and we kept growing. Now as we import more Mexicans and Africans our nation will trend towards Mexican and African levels of wealth creation.

There is not something special about the air here in the US which make us a great nation. Our people are our building blocks. Change the people, change the nation.

That is what makes it so sad. Nothing happened, people were just talked out of their hope.

Look at all the people that believed Carlin's crap.

14 out of 17. Believe there is some government boogeyman that is going to steal their success. Thus they will lay down and take it.

The way to defeat this nation is to win it's hearts and minds. Those that buy Carlin's crap and the same horse **** from many others that peach the same message, have forfeited their minds and hearts.

There were worse things than assassinating presidents and war protests. Way way way worse. Civil war, slavery and we survived those.

true greatness is being able to become a great nation regardless of handicaps.

You really should stop letting Stormfront do your thinking for you.

Well, it appears that as we self inflict handicaps upon ourselves that we're not really able to overcome those self-inflicted handicaps and thus we're probably not a great nation anymore.

Demographics have everything to do with it. A nation is nothing more than people.

If we did a poll today on people that believe Carlin's message of hopelessness if more people believe it is true than demographics would prove that this nation would be doomed.

So we change the immigrants.

So we change the immigrants.

1.) There is a supply shortage of the types of immigrants who come from nations which have proven themselves capable of building, and sustaining, civilization.
2.) We're still left with the fact that we now have a lot of immigrants who are dragging us down.
3.) Immigrants isn't the relevant category, it's people who made the nation, immigrants comprised only some of the people.
4.) We were able to effectively assimilate past immigrants during periods of enforced immigration moratoriums but no one seems in the mood to completely stop immigration for 40 years and turn culture away from a multiculturalist perspective and back towards an unrelenting assimalative perspective.

But, basically, the problem is people, and the solution is people.

I am not sure I agree that a complete halt on immigration would be a good thing - especially since it cannot be done without ruinous expense.
I would agree that certain core values need to be sustained, or we'll lose even more of our foundation. People like something they can rely on, and we don't have much of that these days.

I'm all ears, or eyes, so if you've got a solution in mind, then share it and let's see how it could work.

The poll leaves out one important choice.

Yes, most people are owned as Carlin says. I am not one of them. I have recognized what he says for years. However, instead of people accepting personal responsibility for their votes, they still blame the system.

The owners only own you guys because you let them!

Willfully ignorant, like he says.

I do not have a solution.

Wish I did.

Maybe this is the start of some kind of nationwide change, where people realize nothing is really as concrete as they wish it were, and who knows where we end up from there.

To which agent do you look to to solve society's problems?

I guess that would depend on which of society's problems you are referring to.... Does the Federal Government have a role to play in creating jobs? Yes, when it comes to public projects like bridges, highways, infrastructure, etc.

This "big brother" has only taken over because we have allowed it to.

Once upon a time a rag tag group of colonists that were severely outnumbered fought and beat the most powerful nation in the world.

Think about this. If instead of worrying about boogeyman in the shadow government we as people United, they couldn't take our houses.

They have convinced you they are more powerful than you.

Look up Martin Niemöller

He said that when they [Nazis] came for the socialists he did not speak up because he wasn't a socialist, on and on and on until they came for him and nobody came to speak for him because nobody was left.

Think about it this way, take Houston, [school districts are notorious for this in Houston] a school district wants a block with fifty houses on it and goes to confirm them. If a hundredth of our city shows up to that block and stands there (keep in mind Houston is 6.5mil pop so that would be 65000 people and hpd only has 5000 officers) and says over our dead bodies. They lose.

tiananmen-square-1989-tank-man.jpg

In this picture one man stood against abattalion of tanks. Chinese government once killed infants for being born female

And one man unarmed stopped a battalion of tanks.

If one man can do this in China, a country that has no rights, imagine what a thousand, a hundred thousand people can do in our nation.

So taking Carlin's message to heart robbs you of your power, it makes a government powerful.

In this country it is a republic, the people are the government. Big brother does whatever the hell we tell him to.

Don't be so easily convinced to give up.

When I see that one man standing up against that tank in Tianjin square, I tear up, he could have been a father, a school teacher, or if it were to occur to day a debate politics poster.

If there is no cause that you would fight to the death for, you have nothing to live for.

I pity those that just give up and say the government. is to powerful.

There were black women men and children at one time that were slaves in our country. They had nothing, they weren't even people to the slave owners they were beaten into slavery by a much more powerful force. Yet some of those brave men women and children bled out their life blood in a fight to the death literally during slave rebellions they weren't always successful rebellions, many people were slaughtered. This was in the 1800s up until the mid 20th century they were still slaughtering babies some father's beloved son and they didn't give up. They fought and died lost fathers, mothers daughters and sons kicking against a massive wall. When the ground was drenched in blood they raged forward just for the possibility of something better. The price they payed was massive and the loss was greater than anything seem today. But they triumphed. They pushed back and the aggressors fell down.

So don't tell me some limp wristed government lack can take my house. I will fight to the death over it.

If folks would put aside their petty differences and unite the government. would obey us. It's assclowns like Carlin that have told you that wouldn't work. I didn't have as much animosity toward that dirt bag before this as I do now. That piece of human **** was taking money from abunch of hopeless losers affirming their hopelessness while picketing millions and laughing at them

After this **** George Carlin, that piece of ****.

You sound like a young idealist..... Back in the 60s, people did stand up-- they picketed, protested, boycotted and even rioted, but they accomplished a lot..... Since then, except for perhaps the environmentalists, people seldom do that..Actually, they seldom even pay attention.... If the government wants your property, they are going to get it and there won't be a dam thing that you can do about it......Have you looked at your credit history lately? Every payment that you have ever made to anybody for the past 7-10 years, is listed in the 3 credit report agencies.... In minute detail..If you were late once, it is listed.....They know everything about you and it is used against you or for you, depending on your history....How is it possible that this group has so much information about you? How did this happen? Any employer, business, landlord can access this information at any time..... They can also access any criminal history that you may or may not have.....Whatever happened to privacy? You are an open book!!!!

I like you, dude. But to be honest, you are coming across a little unhinged here in this thread. Calm down. :2razz:

Seriously though, the Government has tanks and attack helicopters. The Government rules the propaganda machine. Most people are not critical thinkers. Most people believe whatever confirms their preconceived notions. As long as people have their internet and smart phones, they aren't going to "rock the boat". People as a whole are hopeless with regards to their apathy about the state of things currently. That could change, but as of right now, it doesn't look that way. This is why Congress has an 11% approval rating and a 97% re-election rate. People are easy to mislead.
