I'm not sure. It's certainly not in our best interests to attempt to isolate and/or blackball a major power. We aren't that friendly with any of the major powers. And we may need their help some day. I just don't know enough about it to feel that confident in my opinion; but I think we should have thought about what to do now before we spoke in the first place.

day late and a dollar short. Sometimes things are done that cannot be undone.

Absolutely nothing. Sanctions have very little bite. Let the chips fall where they may. Although we can voice our displeasure with Russia, we should step aside.

What would you do?

If I were the President I would not have began my presidency with a global apology tour. If I were the president I would have affirmed American leadership and resolve years ago.

Community organizers don't do well against the former heads of intelligence agencies.

none of the above. we are not a regional hegemon. this one is the responsibility of the EU.

Russian arms inspectors are scheduled to inspect US nuclear facilities this week in accordance with START. Obama should cancel the inspections until this issue is resolved in a satisfactory manner.

What would you do?

You only give two options. The first is a non-starter, as he couldn't do that even if he had the will to. Making war against the Taliban or Saddam Hussain is not the same thing as attacking Russia on its doorstep. You want WWIII?

What would you do?

Station troops in non-occupied Ukraine to discourage further land grabs and say we technically fulfilled the provisions of our treaty. Recommence building of the missile defense systems in Eastern Europe (already underway) and don't stop no matter what Russia says or does.

Nothing....we need to stop playing Cop.

It's a big world and there will be many things we COULD do....does not mean we SHOULD.

Time to fix our own problems instead of everyone elses.

The USA should end all nuclear weapons reductions agreements and declare the treaty voided as was the treaty with Ukraine concerning their nuclear weapons reduction/elimination treaty.

We should put a minimal number of USA troops - and if possible NATO troops) in the existing major Ukraine bases In Crimea. If Russia is going to attack American troops, it is Russia's war to start. Under International law, Crimea is still Ukraine, not Russian merely because Putin says it is.

Put USA and if possible NATO troop in the rest of Ukraine, specifically on borders.

Offer military alliance with former USSR Eastern and Southern block nations who are likely freaking out now. Upon such alliance, place a token number of USA and if possible NATO troops there. If Russia is going to attack American troops, that then is his decision.

Put the Iron Curtain back up, only this time with all of Russia's former captured and occupied bloc countries on the other side of that wall. The collection of Eastern and Southern bloc nations, the USA and NATO astronomically outweighs Russia in population, economic might and military might.

The result would be:

1. The USA and NATO would be acting for the non-nuclear proliferation treaty with Ukraine - rather than the USA and NATO being damn liars and cowards.
2. Putin would have run Russia back into the dark ages economically and would ultimately be removed by the powers of Russia.
3. Russia would become a 2nd tier world power.
4. The new leader of Russia would be begging US to "tear down that wall."

If the USA/NATO played Putin's poker game - rather than being cowards despite holding an Ace high royal flush to Putin's 2 jacks- Putin would ridiculed worldwide for the hardship he brought on Russia and internally removed by Russian powers for screwing up so badly and costing them a fortune.

The USA/NATO would again have something to offer in exchange for countries not developing nuclear weapons rather than the now urgency that they do so.

Didn't vote in the poll as your choices seem to be attack or run and nothing allowed in the middle.

I do think Obama is slowing going in the right direction. Saw on various news sites that we are stepping up exercises with NATO, we've sent some military units to the baltic states, we're supporting Ukraine financially and no doubt in other ways. I think we can do more economically, politically, and militarily to deter him. The sanctions we placed on them so far are a joke, maybe it's just a delay tactic until we can coordinate deeper sanctions and economic retaliation. We should give Israel the green light to do whatever they want in Syria and Iran, with US support. We can send troops in to Poland and other baltic states not just for exercises.

Whatever we do, we need to make it is substantial and sudden. Phasing things in will not work. It sucks, and it's brinksmanship, but it is necessary. Otherwise world order will break down and the effects of that will be incredibly damaging, and long lasting, not just for the US, but for every country. Putin has led us to this return to containment and brinksmanship.

The best thing that Obama can do now, it is commit suicide. He is the worst president in the history of the country. Before other countries did not like America. But respected. Now we have no love and no respect. Our enemies are just laughing at us.
We do not need to send troops to Ukraine. Ukraine is a big country with a large population and the army. All we need, to help Ukraine firearms and instructors. And in the event of hostilities, to cover them from the air.

Forget the Ukraine, that's Europe's problem.

Forget Cuba and cut Puerto Rico loose, we don't need the drag from either of them.

Secure America's borders, deport all of the illegals and their dependents, focus on building our military back up to pre-Clinton levels of strength.
