Oh hell, let's meddle some more and see how deep we can wade into the big muddy. NOT!

So Russia invades, we send the Ukranians money, which will end up going to the Russians. Sounds like a great idea.:doh

As you may have heard, Congress is prepared to vote on an aid package to Ukraine worth approximately 1 billion dollars in response to recent Russian actions:

Qualified, "no". It depends on what happens. To date there's been no bloodshed, tiko, and it appears Crimea wants to be part of Russia and not Ukraine. So for now a qualified no.

Popular desire =/= valid secession. You have historical context, and more importantly, economic arrangements. Otherwise, Detroit could take a huge loan and then declare itself seceded from the federal government to avoid paying back the debt.

Typical liberal response, throw money at the problem.

Congress should appropriate money for Obama taking a course on playing chess.

The government doesn't have any money that's our money! With all the nonsense with health care where do they think they're going to get all this money? I would prefer to pick my own charities, thank you very much!

What are we hoping to accomplish with this aid*? Will it solve Ukraine's money and stability problems?

*- I am thinking the overall aid, not just ours. I have heard that the total aid will equal roughly $15 Billion, most of it coming from the EU.

I feel the country and region requires something to stabilize democracy and counter Russian expansion attempts.

I don't approve because we all watched the USA manipulate and fund the protestors behind thse events. No one has told us why. It's not about those buzzwords spun by the Mighty Wurlitzer freedom, liberty, democracy and justice. If it was, we would not have used intrigue to overthrow a democratically elected scumbag (Yanukovych). The article notes we can increase our deliveries of Liquid Natural Gas to the same pipeline that Putin fills from the other end. Could Big Energy be involved? Does a bear crap in the woods? Why hell yes. Could other Big Money like "too big to fail" banks be involved? Of course. Lots of money to be made by Corporatism. Could wars/insurrections/instability be profitable for Big Corporate and the Military Industrial Corporate Complex? Does a cat have an ass? Now Putin sent low cost gas to Ukraine and agreed to $15 billion of loans backed by bonds to a good customer with a majority shared heritage and the Mighty Wurlitzer is trying to paint him with the "Bad Guy" imagery and that is dirty pool, me buckos. The USA has been the "Bad Guy" in this scenario since day one and it appears we need to reassess the function of the Mainstream Media, the Presstitutes, the Mighty Wurlitzer and our Intelligence Agency scumbags. I say scumbags because they openly and publicly lie to the citizens we elect to monitor their activities and nobody arrests them for perjury. This issue is not really about Ukraine.

Completely support it. In conjunction with the $15 billion on offer from the EU it will go a long way towards offsetting the distinct possibility of Russia reneging on their loan guarantees and aid package while giving a bridge to IMF support to keep Ukraine from being held at gunpoint by Russia and provide some much needed progress for the government in Kiev.

Almost everyone who wants a tough response on Ukraine is also supportive of this sort of an aid package for the reasons others have clearly enumerated.

It is basically to bailout Ukraine. Ukraine's economy even before all the riots was not exactly stable. I hope to see maybe some military aid not just financial aid being sent to Ukraine.

Right, but will it *solve* Ukraine's issues? In other words, will it be akin to just catching up on bills/debts, but not address the underlying problem and they'll go right back into debt and face the same issues?

No I do not approve of this.We should not involved ourselves militarily or financially in the Ukraine.
1.We should not waste one American dollar on this. The idea that this is a loan is ****ing absurd, we will never see that money again.
2.Any action on our part regarding the Ukraine can be seen as a act of war by Russia and therefore provoke Russia into attacking us thus drawing us into another war.
3.American lives and money are worth more than the lives of Ukrainians.
