I believe that you have hit the nail on the head.

Just when you think that maybe you've heard it all, another wild scheme pops up.

There are at least as many crazy ideas on this planet as there are crazy people.

You have to wonder why so many happen to find their way to one place.

How's this? :

Terrific!!!! Thank you.

I must have seen him perform a dozen or more times before his untimely death at such a relatively young age and that song was always my favorite. I think it summarizes a certain truth and beauty rather well.

I don't see it, no.

"It's because you're a blind liberal who was hypnotized by the government! blah blah blah!"

When my wife and I, we are both army veterans, want a good laugh at silly people we watch Doomsday Preppers. If you watch one you will see that the disclaimer at the end gives the probabilities of the 'crisis' the Prepper is in fear of.

Most are silly fat men who wouldn't last a New York minute in a real doomsday scenario. Some of THE MOST whiny guys I have ever seen- the best was one whiner crying because a rifle HE SAW being set up by him rung his bell.... as if there will be no loud noises in defense of the homestead.

Next best was a guy who shot his fingertip off while 'training' his son on firearm use. :doh

There maybe a riot if power was lost for a few days but there will be no war.

My advice to you is if you believe 'reality' TV you should start listening to the radio. :2wave:

You couldn't get serious preppers to appear on that show for any amount of money. The real deal doesn't do media attention.

We already have a fine prison system in place that would be more than willing to accept agitators of violence. :)

The US civil war is somewhat sad from my perspective.

After almoust 200 years of civil war in Germany (between the small states) the conclusion learned was that every political leadership in the future should always avoid such divisions to take place.

After the Austrian civil war in 1923 and the birth of the second republic after WW2 in 1954 the two main political parties created a "contract of friendship" in which they swore to never call for violence against the other again. Which now is a kind of "code of honor" in the republic followed by every party.

I guess the disapointment in the North after victory and the resentment in the South towards the North because of the brutality with which the North pilleged and occupied the South, prevented any reconsiliation.

Or am I wrong with seing this that way?

That being said, I think it highly unlikely that civil war will break out in the US again.

It all depends on who you ask. And that response depends heavily on where one lives. But I agree with you, we did NOT learn the lessons needed from the Civil War. We blew a golden opportunity during Reconstruction to purge the hateful, racist ideologies and ways of life that enabled the Civil War. Just look how far the West Germans came in the decades following WWII. You know why? Because (1) they openly, and honestly, and candidly, purged their horrible ways of thinking that had led to Naziism and the Second World War, and (2) they got a massive amount of economic assistance from the UK, the US, and France (not necessarily in that order). The South received neither of these things. Imagine how much better off as a nation we might be if we had done that...

We're far too lazy.

i listened to it and it made me remember some things that happened a long time ago.

So, what do ya think?

If there is a civil war in the near future, who's gonna fight who? What could be the outcome?

A civil war is only imminent in the minds of people who fantasize about it or are delusional enough to hate Obama/Bush/Whomever so much that they think we've reached the point of domestic warfare. No we are not.

I believe the military might rebel. I hate to say that.

I believe if Hillary is elected President there may not be a civil war but I believe there would be fighting on the streets.

Happy?

No vacation
No jobs - taken by Chinaman and imported slaves
No materity leave
No sick leave
No healthcare
No dental
No affordable homes
No property rights (as the banks just showed with illegal forclosures and fraud)
Not eating either.........SNAP is not enough and is being cut...............

Do you think these and millions of unemployed, and working poor are Happy?

OWS protests scared the **** out of the likes of you. that is why you had the violent reaction..........................

View attachment 67161224

During the Great Depression we had 22% actual unemployment (if not higher), millions effectively disenfranchised by Jim Crow, the genesis of a global ideological struggle between Communism, Fascism, and Capitalism, violently suppressed marches on the capital by veterans, unrest in the streets, and so much more. We still didn't end up facing insurrection, revolution, secession, or of course civil war.

But you think that slow economic growth, moderate malaise, and an unemployment rate that is around 7-8% will bring about this conflict? Good grief.

Oh my god. No there would not. Why... why would the military 'rebel' because Hillary Clinton wins the Presidential election?

That is easy she hates the military and will gut it more then OBAMA.

What's new?

And why would that even slightly justify violating oaths.

You can only take so much my left wing friend.........57 senior officers relieved for cause..............under President Bush there were 4....The military loved him, That is not the case with Obama not is it with Hillary.

What evidence do you have that she 'hates' the military? Why would the military REBEL because of a cut in funding? Jesus christ if the military was going to rebel over funding cuts it needs to be purged!

They said the same in Nazi Germany in 1936/37/38.

I really think the US is as good a place to live as it has ever been, if not, even better. People who are eating and happy dont revolt. We as a country are happy.

Will you be surprised when this absolutely doesn't happen?

Probably not.
The doom and gloomers will just assume the media covered the rebellion up.

They said the same in Nazi Germany in 1936/37/38.

No, they really didn't. By all accounts, Germany was a pretty miserable place to live during the rise of the Third Reich, thanks to the pretty horrible terms of the Treaty of Versailles. Which is why the Third Reich rose to power in the first place. And it was no great shakes after the rise of the Third Reich either.

But congratulations on going Godwin.
