Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

Are you going to watch the state of the union?

probably a minute of it. i generally zone out when it all just turns into a string of platitudes. this usually happens in the first minute of the speech.

here's a cliff notes summary of Obama's speech :

"America is cool, here's some stuff that has no chance of going anywhere, because half the country recoils in hyperpartisan rage at the mere mention of my name. the other half is pretty bored with me and are busy hating the other half with about 85 percent of the fury that the right directs at me. we're at a standstill and only meaningless compromises are going to happen, but we will laud these floating turds as great progress. by we, i mean congress and myself. the whole country will hate all of it for one reason or another. see you next year.

to sum, why in the **** did i take this ****ing job? please, somebody yell liar or something so that the talking heads will have something to spend five news cycles on. i just can't be bothered to give a **** anymore. when i finally get to stop being president, i plan to let the air out of Ted Cruz's tires and then go back to Hawaii. once there, i will smoke enough weed to never have to think about this **** ever again. good night, and good luck."

there, i saved us all the trouble of watching this ****. i'm going to watch Dexter instead, i think. or maybe just fight with wrong people on the internet.

Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

I would like to, even if I'm not a big Obama fan I would like to hear his address. I likely won't be able to though due to school/being busy.

I will be hugging my flat screen savoring every word...

Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

Yep....always do, regardless of who is President.

Do you really think this year's SOTU will be substantially different from last year? Or 2012? Or 2011? Or 2010?

Basically it won't give us a clue about the state of the union that the Founders intended that the President clue us in on now and then.

But it will have a lot of:

1. Me/myself/I have done this and this and this and this.
2. Oh and don't forget I killed bin Laden.
3. Me/myself/I intend to do this and this and this and this (and never mind that all this stuff is on my list in No. 1 up there.)
4. If something didn't get done, it is Fox News or the media or Tea Partiers clinging to guns and Bibles or the GOP or phony scandals that prevented it. It wasn't my fault or a crappy policy.
5. Don't forget I can't be held accountable for how anything is because I inherited this mess.

Or some reasonable facsimile of that.

Can't we just dust off last year's speech and skip it this year? I really would prefer to do that. I probably won't but I sure am not looking forward to listening in.

Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

I'm going to Tivo it, skip all the babbling crap and just watch the commercials. They always have the BEST ones on State of the Union Tuesday!

Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

If you want to know about the USA read a book.

You willnot learn anything about the USA by listening to Obama blame other people for the state of the unión.

Before I could even listen to Obama's speech I just learned how negative you people are forever whining.

Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

I absolutely will.

Who are youpeople?

What do you think you are going to learn from listening to an Obama speech?

Sounds like some test question at US high school.

Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

Far more believable than Obama

For those who don't know who this man is....well I would be spoiling it.
To those that do, you may enjoy a chuckle with me.

Good Answer Good Answer

Sir, which politician don't lie?

None that I know of. They're all liars from what I have seen. It would be refreshing though to have one that didn't. Though I might die of a heart attack if I ever saw one just from the shock.

Re: Are you going to warch the State of the Union?

I always watch things of this nature one way or another, not always live and not always in one sitting, sometimes i read it also but eventually yes. President doesnt matter.

I don't like being lied to so why would I watch something that is gaurunteed to have lies in it?

Agreed. Why ANYONE watches these is beyond me.

State of the Union...'How to con as many of the American masses as possible that the government actually cares about them'.

I can't decide if I'll watch it or not. Probably have it on in the background while I work on the MAME machine.

We need to go back to when the SOTU was just a letter the president sent to congress.

People around here.....Plan on boycotting watching it live. I won't watch it live. I will pick up a recording after he is done. Course I will be listening to all the commentary all night at and from work.

I think as many as we could get to boycott watching it live would send a message to the MS Media. If it worked and hardly anybody tuned in, do you think Obama would get the message?

Things are starting to get to him.....so all should push back on this notion that he don't have to follow what was designed to be a system of checks and balances. Wherein now he openly tells the American people he will go around Congress. Wherein the MS media points out he will do so.....to get HIS agenda accomplished. To ready himself for the History Books.

I would rather he gets the concept.....that his Agenda. Doesn't come before the American people, so take that Back seat in the Corner of the Bus and STFU.

Absolutely. Besides, it's more rewarding to do something during the speech time which actually offers the possibility of a return of some sort for your effort and attention. Obama's a waste of time...
