Should welfare recipients be allowed to vote?[W:84]

Should those on welfare or any federal aid be allowed to vote?

Veterans should have the right to vote.

Why should ones reliance on assistance matter? That would be essentially taking away that person's voice. Basically a consolidation of power.

what? You asked if felons should be allowed to vote. I replied that once they have finished their sentence, yes. Once a person is no longer incarcerated they should not lose any rights and noone should be allowed to access their crimes at all. Nothing should be held against them in any way.

I voted other. No but with further restrictions. Nobody who receives a salary from the government should be allowed to vote. I am not just talking. I practice what I preach. I never voted the whole 5 years while I was in the Marine Corps. What was I going to vote for? Higher pay. Duh! That would make me a complete scum bag and a disgusting theif not a public servant. I didn't join the Marine Corps to rape the American public. I joined the Marine Corps to serve my country. Big f***ing difference but not to some scum of the earth military members who whine about their low pay. Tell that to the single mom making $15,080 per year. She'll laugh at you and then spit on your uniform. Those scum bags deserve to be hanged for treason in my opinion.

Public servants should be servants not Lords. In my county there are 1,200 county employees. All republicans who win the primaries automatically win in the general election. The highest vote getter in the county commissioner race recieved less than 4,500 votes. Anybody see the problem? Those 1,200 people could gang up on the rest of the county ang get anything they want. Government employees should never be allowed to vote. They should instead be proud to serve their country, state, county, city or town. I feel less strongly about welfare recipients because most cases of welfare are temporary. What if your temporary moment was right before an election? What if you were on welfare for 3 years and then suddenly got off of welfare right before the election? I suppose the same could be said of government employees. Either way this is a silly argument. I don't think this discussion will ever see the light of day. It's just fantasy talk.

By the way. Another common fantasy is that people live on welfare their entire life and they all have black skin. That's total BS. All retards who think this way are usually ignored and labelled as ignorant hicks with no desire to even peek at reality.

Misspeaking is your own fault. A representative, who is a congressman, cannot vote himself/herself a pay raise. A senator can though, sure.

The two highlighted ones are definite conflicts of interest, because both individuals are directly involved with the Government in their own careers. They directly benefit from things that they control inside the Government and therefore should not be allowed a vote. The other "conflicts" are indirect, and perfectly acceptable; but the two highlighted ones are direct conflicts which should not be allowed.

I think those on welfare should be allowed to vote at least twice, because they are definitely local and local year around, not 3 months in a Sunny spot, 2 months in Vail, 6 months in Bermuda and come back to vote. Welfare guy/girl lives local, spends local, knows local. That would be a much more knowledgeable perspective on local needs.

I disagree, felons commit crimes knowing they will lose their voting privileges if caught and they do them anyway, in essence they sign off on losing them.

Gonna take a long shot and say that felons don't put "future voting rights" as a criterion for whether they commit a crime or not.
