I believe many poor are misinformed and brainwashed by the media which pretends to care for the poor in order to fool them, like the Fox News pretends to be Christian and non main stream when it is in fact an international network itself. same with liberal networks such as MSNBC. same with so called public networks such as PBS - nothing public about it, so what if they get government funding and collect donations - it's management is never elected - they are all fraud. ANYWAY, try to think outside the TV box and ask YOURSELF from deep within - which is the best way to combat poverty, REALLY.... I will discuss my opinion later on.
I do not think any of those apply. I think the following is the best way government can set the conditions to get their citizens out of poverty-
1. Restrict legal immigration and crack down on illegal immigration and the scum who aid and hire illegals.Jobs are not some unlimited resource. When there is unemployment and a artificial surplus of workers a lot of people are not going to get jobs that pay well, they are going to be stuck working at a McDonalds or some other low wage job.
2.Improve our public k-12 schools. Most employers do not want to hire drop outs or will use a person's lack of education to pay that person less or to not promote that person. Empower districts to fire bad teachers like any other place of employment can fire bad employees. Enact parent trigger laws. Require that voters vote on any teacher union contracts since they are the ones picking up the tab.Allow school vouchers and charter schools in case the above fails. The education of our kids is far more important than the job security of any teacher or school official.
3.Require trade schools and colleges/universities to inform potential students of the likelihood that they will be able to get a job that requires the college education they are seeking as well as job predictions for those degree holders. People do not need to accumulate a unnecessary debt for a degree that may be of no value.Debt keeps some people in poverty.
4.Enact laws that will slowly raise minimum wage on it's own and make it go up and down depending on the cost of living on its own.
5.Encourage the creation of American companies.Raise tariffs of companies who outsource and raise tariffs on imported goods in order to give actual American companies equal footing with companies who pay workers next to nothing. Companies should be penalized for outsourcing to countries in order to exploit dirt cheap workers.Require that all government contracts be done with actual American companies that hire Americans.Free trade ****s Americans out of their jobs, encourages companies that do stay in America to cut corners on American made goods in order to compete with foreign made goods and strengthens the economy of enemy nations, dictatorships and communist nations which enables them to beef up their military strength and capabilities. No more engaging in "free trade" with countries whose values are contrast to ours and countries where workers make very little.
6.Lower taxes on businesses who hire mostly only full time workers and companies that have very little automation.
7..Either get rid of the employer mandate in Obama-care or if you are a supporter of Obama-care make it to apply to all businesses regardless or how many full time workers they have and regardless if they hire full time, part time, contract labor, temp service workers and or any other loophole a company may use to avoid the employer mandate.
