Would you accept draft in the given situation?

Although it may not have been put to the test, I believe that that America does still exist.

I'm not fighting for any government. I'd fight for myself, for my family, for glory, but never for some stupid military.

Your two posts are creating cognitive dissonance for me.

If USA would one day start a world war (impossible I know, considering how peaceful it has been) and then one day the world would rise up against it, whooped all US military bases, and brought the fighting home, to US cities, how would you feel about being drafter BY THE GOVERNMENT? By militias?

Living in the woods in America, I am not sure I have the freedom to say what I would do, especially after my dogs were shot a month ago, and I am not sure if I would refuse a local militia to fight against invaders either, because I would like to know who is taking over, and there would probably be no internet to research.

The hell? Why did you put like 5 "yes" answers but not a single "no" answer?

My answer is no. I served my country 7 years with a 15 month afghanistan deployment. I'm done warfighting and I won't go back.

I find it disturbing that less than 1/3 [who took the poll] would fight for their freddom.

What would the rest do, capitulate to the new tyrant?

Words of a boy who has no idea what war is.

I have no fear of fighting, but I'm not fighting someone else's war. If a politician wants to start a war with Iraq, he can pick up a gun and go blow someone's head off himself - I'm not taking orders from those jackoffs.

If I fight, it's either because A.) I'm fighting for my own honor B.) I'm fighting for my family or C.) I'm getting paid well for it.

Only a fool would join the military, IMO.

The given scenario is what's a little difficult to swallow.

Yes, I mentioned that earlier in the thread. Invasion of this country would come very late in the game.

At that point I'd say they're free to have our hopelessly radioactive wasteland. Although "they" wouldn't exist either, because their entire military would have long since been nuked as well. Maybe if the hypothetical situation had included "Nuclear weapons don't exist," then perhaps most people would have voted differently.

Yep, not sure why anyone would want to come here. [for several thousand years]

Okay, then I think it's safe to say then that I wouldn't opt to be drafted to fight a nonexistent enemy who wants to take a our toxic, unarable wasteland. Happy?

I have no fear of fighting

You ever been in combat?

I haven't... and I'm truthful and say I don't know how I would react.

Fully trained soldiers have cracked under the pressure of it.

So I think it shows a lack of maturity that you think you'd be just dandy.

With my security experience I find those who talk the loudest are often the weakest.

That sounds like a challenge. I know for a fact I wouldn't be afraid to fight in a war. And no, I haven't been in combat because, as I said, I'm not fighting someone else's war.

Will no one else join me in the crusade to advance the unification of the human race under the American Flag? Your lack of patriotism is sickening.

I believe that there should be some standards in admission for potential States in the Union. For example, I would tolerate the admission of Canadian provinces excluding Quebec into the Union. And by tolerating I mean accepting their admission though I am not exactly for it. I would be against say the admission of Mexican States to the U.S due to incompatible legal systems. I would oppose strongly any admission of Theocratical States in the Union. I also believe you are deluded that the United States and its people have the resources to hold the world in hegemony or would want to given the sacrifices that it would require.

Skipping the entire ridiculous implausibility of the OP...

Honestly, so long as there was a decent rear area I could store the wife and kids in, I'd be kind of excited. I almost pity the landing force dumb enough to take on an American citizenry.

I predict they take at least a Divisions' worth of losses in the lower half of Louisiana alone.

I believe a landing between the Sabine River and the Alabama line would be out of the question.

They are disinterested in fighting for their freedom, or disinterested in fighting additional political wars, because there is a difference, surely you would agree.

No but we've been giving it one hell of a try for a century and there's been lots of ruin to show for it.

It is not your country either, and although Russians like to claim to be proud victors who defeated Nazi Germany, their own government murdered around 30 million of them, therefor they are in fact NOTHING, just like Americans, BUT WHO WANTS TO ADMIT THAT THEY ARE NOTHING???

I do, I do!!

I am nothing!
