In what way? I really didn't take it seriously until I saw some actually though the tea party was worse. I suppose one could ask who was the most evil, Obama or Hitler or Bush or Hitler.

What has the Weather Underground done recently?

That is an organization which no longer exists in its previous form.

The Tea Party is not a radical fringe organization. Its members have a lot of power in the GOP.

Well saying that the Weathermen Underground are not around and havent been since the mid/late 70's how can you call them being violent currently? They are extinct!

They are no longer around so how can they be "worse"? They never implemented a single policy and had little to no affect on the political outlook of this country? They never shut down the government? They didnt do squat. They are a defunct organization so how can you even compare an organization that is defunct to the tea party!?

First of all, it's less violent and worse of the two.

Second, just because their demonstrations have been peaceful in no way implies that the movement itself is peaceful.

Third, they have been allied with, or at least very close in beliefs to, militant groups that have openly condoned violence as an option.

.... No - it really isn't. Abraham Lincoln didn't do away with slavery. That's incredibly generalizing. So why would racists stop existing? Actually, what do racists have to do with slavery? The two can be and have been found to be mutually exclusive. Abraham Lincoln helped abolish slavery in the US. That has nothing to do with whether racism exists. Now, run along and go play with people who aren't smarter than you.

One worked in a bar, Ayers has been writing incredibly bad books on pedagogy (while also being denied tenure), and nothing has been in their pipeline as an organized front.

The WU doesn't exist, the motivation of the actors is gone, and they haven't done anything.

Comparing the two is akin to comparing a 60+ bingo parlor group and the Black Panthers. There's not much "radical" to the Tea Party other than lower taxes and halting government spending and reducing the deficit. Wow... real radical! Compared to a group who bombed buildings ... it's not a comparison whether or not the WU is around now or not - who cares if they're around or not now, or what have they done lately. That morons pick blue haired middle income retirees as radicals.... it's just precious.

If The Weather Underground had the kind of power and influence as the Tea Party, then there is no doubt they would be worse. However, what makes the Tea Party dangerous is that while they are not violent, they have some extreme ideas and enough influence in politics to screw things up for everyone else. What is worse, a few violent nuts, or tons of nonviolent nutters with some congressman beholden to them?

Think about this way. How dangerous would the Occupy bunch been had they had political power. That is how dangerous the Tea Party is.
