Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Politics and ideologies of the ORIGINAL (pre-palin hijack) Tea Party were by in large identical to those of the founding fathers, being classical Liberalism, or more or less modern day Libertarianism. Hardly something radical, as the country was founded upon those principles. Now, put it on the same playing field as Progressivism, sure, it's radical. At one point it was considered center and the norm. I would call Progressivism a scourge, parasitical in nature (using the democratic party as a host), completely at odds with everything this country stood for, stands for, and was founded upon. That's radical.

As for the weather underground, largely irrelevant. Obviously, utilization of violence puts them at the top of the radical list. Anyone else remember where Godbama was when he declared his run for president the first time around?

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Timothy McVeigh would have LOVED the Tea Party.

He actually turned out to be a non-christian left winger. So...probably not. MSNBC and their facts, no wonder why nobody takes them seriously.

Bill Ayers and Barrack Obama did love the underground

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Seems to me that the word "fringe" implies something much less mainstream than the tea party.

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

We all have heard how radical the Tea Party is and how out of touch they are with reality. So how do the compare with the radical left organization calling themselves the Weather Underground formed in Ann Arbor from the SDS. The Weather Underground seemed pretty much out there and used violence to make their point. Please state your opinion.

Really? People think the Tea Party (of today of course) is radical???? Perhaps, the original one was radical but today's is pretty status quo.

4 people above voted the Tea Party was more radical than the underground, it appears progressives support violence against its own people

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

You finally accept that the Tea Party is a radical group of people?

Sure, in 2013 any one that believes in the constitution is radical.

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

The weather underground was a radical group. The tea party is a reactionary group. Apples, oranges.

I think the original one was far more centrist, and formed around the original ideals of the country. Mirror of the federalist papers in many aspects.

I don't understand how wishing to model the country off of it's original design is considered extreme.

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Really? Have any proof of that?

I would suspect not. MSNBC told them. They 'lean forward', which means they are correct.

It has been proven he's a leftist sympathizer. The right wing rumors were media sensationalism. Nothing more.

Oh, on second look, I see you worded the question differently. You didn't ask who was more radical which is clearly the Weather Underground. They were fighting against the forces of the status quo. You asked which group was worse. Sorry my error.

Oh, it was radical. They wanted to fight against the British Crown which was perceived as radical at the time.

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Tea Party (originally) fights a globalist/progressive agenda which is hellbent on the dismantling of our founding ideologies and structure. They are a scourge on this country (and planet), and I would love nothing more than to buy them all one way tickets to a western european utopia. I think they have no place here, as they despise the very foundation of which this country was founded. The sooner they are alienated, the better IMO. Personally, I would never befriend one. Democrats, sure, I like healthy debate, but Progs are disgusting. I hold them in the same light as nazis, and a few financial backers of their cause were in fact nazi collaborators during the war (cough soros cough). They still hold them in high regard as well. Despicable.

For this, I'd say the original Tea Party mission was one of great value. Not sure what it is anymore, but the preservation of the country and constitution is hardly radical. It's commendable.

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Of course the complete irony is if the original Boston Tea Party did what they did in today's political environment, the Tea Party of today would have probably called them thugs for destroying a multinational's product. The corporate owned media would have had a hay day with it:lol: They are socialist against free trade;)

That is a bald-faced lie. Timothy McVeigh was a member of the Christian Identity Movement. Why did our media never call him a Christian terrorist?

Edit: OK, so his relationship with religion was complicated. But there is no question that he was a militant libertarian, perhaps even an anarchist. Read for yourself.

Timothy McVeigh is the embodiment of everything the radical libertarians stand for. Not all libertarians or Tea Partiers, mind you, but the worst of the worst.

However, I could be wrong that he would have loved the Tea Party. He might have thought that the Tea Party's peaceful demonstrations didn't go far enough, and hated them for that.

So the long and short of it is you don't know anything about it.

You seem to be struggling to discern the truth. Timothy McVeigh should be the icon of every white man who's ever wanted to overthrow the government of the United States of America.

For those of us who retain our sanity, he is an example of what horrors would happen if the anarchists ever chose to become terrorists.

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Both..... Weather Underground acts but does so based on a wholely faulty philosophy. The Tea Party philosophy is much better (though not perfect) but they refuse to actually act for what they believe in.

Where has the Tea Party vowed to overthrow the government? And no I am not a member of the Tea Party.

Okay, when I first saw this I thought it was a joke. Then I knew it had to be sarcasm. But then another thought crossed my mind, perhaps this poll was to be used to find out those with very extremist views. If one voted for the tea party to be worse than the weathermen, weather underground, SDS or whatever you want to call them. Worse than an organization that would bomb and kill to get their political views across vs. one who operated within the framework of our political systems and has accomplished what it has accomplished with the will of the people and their votes. One organization that attempted change within the law and at the ballot box vs. the other who tried to force change via violence and destruction. So I think this poll say a lot about those who chose the tea party as worse than the SDS, weathermen or whatever. My opinion.

How some have moved to the extreme left to call the Tea Party as a radical organization. It's really not.

The Tea Party movement is an American political movement that is primarily known for advocating a reduction in the U.S. national debt and federal budget deficit by reducing U.S. government spending and taxes.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] The movement has been called partly conservative,[SUP][3][/SUP] partly libertarian,[SUP][4][/SUP] and partly populist.[SUP][5][/SUP] It has sponsored protests and supported political candidates since 2009.[SUP][6][/SUP][SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][8][/SUP]

The name is derived from the Boston Tea Party of 1773, an iconic event in American history.[SUP][9][/SUP][SUP][10][/SUP][SUP][11][/SUP][SUP][12][/SUP] Anti-tax protesters in the United States have often referred to the original Boston Tea Party for inspiration.[SUP][13][/SUP][SUP][14][/SUP][SUP][15][/SUP] References to the Boston Tea Party were part of Tax Day protests held throughout the 1990s and earlier.[SUP][16][/SUP][SUP][17][/SUP][SUP][18][/SUP][SUP][19][/SUP] By 2001, a custom had developed among some conservative activists of mailing tea bags to legislators and other officials as a symbolic act.[SUP][20]

About Us - Tea Party

Oh how radical! Oh how terrible! Oh how anti-American. Oh wait . . . not so much.

Do I agree with all of their positions? Nope. Do they have legitimate concerns and positions? Yup.
Have they been unfairly excoriated by the Biased Lame Stream Media? Most certainly.
Are they radical? Nope.

Re: Which is radical fringe is worse? The Weather Underground or the Tea Party? Wh

Since the Weather Underground is deader than Sarah Palin's credibility, I'd have to say the Mickey Mouse Club is more dangerous than they are.
