In the light of Nelson Mandela's death, was Nelson Mandela a freedom fighter or a terrorist? Or "other" (please explain)?

He was an inspirational and truly remarkable man. Proof that ordinary people can do extraodinary things. His capacity for forgiveness and reconciliation made him one of the most remarkable and respected individuals of modern times.

He has become a symbol of what one can achieve with true dedication to a cause and the world is a poorer place as a result of his passing.

RIP Madiba.

I don't think he was a freedom fighter, per se. I think he was a great unifier.

If he was a freedom fighter he's now the best sort - dead. What? Too soon?

I vote freedom fighter. He certainly didn't have to endure the hell he paid for acting on the change he envisioned, but most are glad he did. His actions did spark change.

Over all Mandela was definitely a freedom fighter. His goal was to do away with white minority rule and apartied. To give black South Africans a voice in government and the vote. He freed his people, what more needs to be said.

Straight-up media darling. There's nothing worse. Was Bin Laden a terrorist or a 'freedom fighter'? lulz

Serenity, make up your mind, was Mandela a "remarkable man" or an "ordinary" man ?

Was Fidel Castro a remarkable man or an ordinary man who became a communist revolutionist terrorist dedicated to socialism ?

Mandela didn't exert control over his people in the same manner as Castro so why would you compare the two?

After hearing yesterday what's really going on in South Africa yesterday, that there are still black Africans being necklaces and if you have or had a connection to the ANC, you ain't going to prison.

Have you read the rap sheet on that guy standing next to Obama doing the hand language thing during Mandela's memorial ?

Either our Secret Service has become as incompetent as Obama or the South African security ageancies are as incompetent as Obama.

All communist terrorist and jihadist terrorist have always called themselves freedom fighters.

What does that make our founding fathers? Jihadist terrorist or communists?

Hmmmm, who is making the necklaces? At any account, why should South Africa hold political prisoners? Isn't that what Castro did?

Dude, what's going on with your av? Is that a rock monster in a pink leotard, picking a fight with a toy pig?

Is your username Welsh?

You shouldn't be talking about AVs. That's called trolling.

Neither, just rebels who didn't use terrorism against the people, not even the Tories.

They waged a revolution like men who had a pair. They engaged the Red Coats on the field of battle and at sea.

Where I'm from, they call it curiosity. Seriously, I can't make head nor tail of it. No offence.

Well we used unconventional warfare during the American revolution which probably would be labeled as terrorism, tar and feathering, and economic warfare....
