Sorry, it's a bit of a quibble, but one of the points of the story is that Frodo didn't throw the ring into the fire.

Technically, you are correct. Froto finally made it to Mount Doom, and while attempting to throw the ring away, Golum bit Froto's finger off while trying to get the ring for himself, then fell into the lava, and he and the ring were destroyed. Froto did what he was supposed to do, and the ring was destroyed. That's what we were all cheering about!

Greetings, Grand Mal. :2wave:

Frodo changed his mind and claimed the ring for himself. That's when Gollum leaped on him and bit his finger and the ring off in the ensuing struggle.

According to the book.

For the record, by that point Frodo had been overcome by the Ring and had decided to keep it for himself. Gollum fought him for it, bit Frodo's finger off with the Ring, and fell into the lava.:peace

I think people like to read a lot more into things than what is actually there sometimes.

Absolutely. I was just wondering why he would even suggest it in the first place.

Game of Thrones is supposed to be roughly based on the War of the Roses in Medieval England (York vs Lancaster changed into Stark vs Lannister). As such, basically all of the cast is white. There's nothing inherently "racist" about that in and of itself.

And, for the record, any film with scenes like this...

Can get away with as many "fake endings" as it wants in my book.

Interesting, I didn't know that. So I take it then that the Yorks spent that whole war dying?

why would it be racist? I do not get the basis behind the question in the first place.

I believe the Lancasters won most of it (my history is honestly a bit rusty). However, it's also worth noting that the Tudors, the house which ultimately assumed the crown after the war, were made up of a union of both houses by marriage (hence their insignia; a red Lancaster rose, with a white York rose within).

Make of that what you will.

I stand corrected. I should have remembered that, because it was so shocking after all he had been through.

I know...sorry I didn't recall correctly.

Don't feel bad. I can never remember every single detail of movies like others seem to be able to do. :)

So, people, what do you think? :)
What's your feeling about that? :peace

The BNP put out leaflets and posters at cinema queues in the UK for "Two Towers" and "Return of the King" after Eomer's speech about "invaders to our country" but it didn't wash with the UK public.

Nobody saw it as a racist movie here and the same when John Rhys-Davies was suddenly poster-boy for the BNP after saying 'Are we willing to be part of a Muslim-controlled Europe?'

Movie wasn't racist but like anything else, you can see racism if you want to.

I hope this can answer your question. :)

That's a good question. Are we?

I'm pretty sure most of the Uruk-Hai were played by Maori and Pacific Islanders. Coincidentally, the Uruk-Hai were cannibals...

Alien was racist. Is it any coincidence that the xenomorphs are BLACK? HUH? ANSWER THE QUESTION, HONKY

I agree. Whenever I see him in anything anymore I think Matrix. Even something as awesome in its own right as LotR.

You clearly didn't grow up repeatedly watching The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
