I've dated many a pretty country girl. All of them were chronic alcoholics but would look at you like you were crazy if you even remotely suggested this glaring fact to them (130 pound women that would sit there and outdrink a 250 pound man then claim to not be an alcoholic after having her stomach pumped at the local hospital).

I'd just never seen it. I'm from suburbia and I had a rosy view of the 'Ideal, Conservative Country Girl'. No more. I've come to find it's actually suburban girls that tend to be conservative and that most country girls and city girls are chronic alcoholics from an early age, especially country girls.

I suspect it must be just the women you are choosing. I'm a rural/country woman, and the last thing you could describe me as is a drunk, or a substance abuser of any kind whatsoever. In fact, I have a good many friends who are rural types, and there is only one who is an alcoholic, and it is a man, whom I love dearly, in spite of his alcoholism. He's one of the most stand-up, honest, and cool men I know.

Uh, not that I've ever noticed. Problem drinkers are everywhere. I don't notice any difference by level of urban living.

However, they do it differently. I would grant drinking publicly is more acceptable in both the city and the country.

But there are plenty of suburbans who drink like their life depends on it. They just do it quietly, in the bathroom, away from the prying eyes of the friends and family they have to put a good front on for.

But of course you're in the OPs catch22, since your a country woman, even if you are a drunk, you won't admit it..... :doh

I was born and raised on a farm and I hardly ever seen any of the girls/women drink. Even when I go back to the old homestead today, you don't find the women drinking. Now the city gals, they're a completely different story.

The OP is so far detached from reality, one wonders why a thread so nonsensical was even started.

If you grow up in a family of alcoholics, you are likely to become an alcoholic. Some ethnicities encourage heavy drinking. I'm country and a lot of rural activity centers around the popular gin mill. I've bartended these joints in the past. If you want to know which ones of the drinking damsels are alcoholics, show up at closing time and mention you have a bottle of whiskey. It's like fishing. Guess who takes the bait. Not surprisingly, in a bar, you find barflies. You don't take a bottle of closing time bait to a church social.

My wife is as country as you can get. And she's not a drunk. She didn't drink at all until after she was 30 years old. Now, she will have a glass of wine, or even beer every now and then. But only one, and only so often, and only with a meal.

I feel that the personality that the OP is attracted to may be the problem, which may include being a drunk.

The country girls that my son's are dating, do not drink at all.

My theory is that doing so much meth makes them thirsty. ;)

Go for the big country girls and toss those little 130 pounders back. ;)

I think the problem is with you. Do you drive women to drink maybe?

Nah. Not that I've seen, and I live in the South in the transition zone between suburban and farm country. Most gals out this way either don't drink or drink very moderately. The alkies are more likely to be menfolks.

Now if the only place you're picking up country girls is in bars, you're biasing your own data...

I don't know about them being drunks but every once in a while you're liable to run into one that brings "horny" to a whole new level....not that it's a bad thing.

I think any time you try to stereotype people into a "country girls are ...black people are...liberals are...Italians are...any other group of people are...." fill in the blank, based on experience with a few individuals who fit the category, you're on pretty shaky ground.

My wife's family is from back in the hills and very very "country-rural". In fact granny had a still until she died a few years back, and the kids pretty much could drink at will while growing up. I also was married to a very urban (French Canadian) from the city, and her whole family, including a baby sister drank from the time they could lift a sippy cup, I dont know if they put it in her bottle or not. But as far as I know not a one of them are alkies. Not one.

I may not know much about women, but I sure expereinced. That aint even all my exwives

What else is there to do in the sticks?

Geez. Well besides sex, there's...

The Internet, believe it or not, along with all the other electronic entertainments everyone else has, PLUS:

Hunting
Fishing
Riding horses
Riding bikes
Motorcycles/ATVs
Boating, canoeing
skiing
swimming
farming, gardening, landscaping
snowmobiling, some places
picnicking
hiking, camping
shooting sports
archery
church socials and dinners
sporting events of all kinds, tailgate parties, etc.
reading
various outdoor games, as well as the usual indoor ones
barn-raising parties
"visiting"
mountain climbing
hang gliding
... and most country folk live within a halfway reasonable drive of a city or large town where the entertainments common to such places are available...

Overheard in my country town - male mechanic talking to another:
"I just don't like going to the county fair. You see, when you go to the fair, you drink too much. Then you spend all your money and you don't know where it went. Then you get in a fight - or help your friend who gets in a fight - and then you get arrested. No, I just don't like going to the fair."

There are people who drink and people who don't drink. Country/urban isn't the issue.

You just described hell to me. Also, satellite internet is beyond expensive and beyond crappy - and that's when it doesn't have issues connecting.

Stay in the city then. More elbow room for me and mine.

We have cable. Lots of rural areas have it now.
