I think Martin and myself took Palin's comments about slavery different. With China buying up huge chunks of our debt, they own more of it than any other nation. When it comes due or when they want their money back, we may indeed become slaves in a sense to them. I can see in the future if China doesn't want us to do something, they will threaten us with the money we owe them. An example might be, don't bomb Syria or we will cash in all the U.S. Treasury bonds we hold of yours. There is that possibility they could have us over a barrel. This should be another reason to get our fiscal house in order ASAP.
The biggest single owner of our debt, is the United States via the Social Security fund.

if I had been his boss, he would have been fired on the spot. I am not surprised he is still working.

I love free speech. If one shows ignorance or intolerance so be it, let the hearer be informed of who they are dealing with. All that should matter with regard to his job is his value to his boss. If he "turns off" the audience and they reciprocate his boss will act.

I agree with this, but I think Ann Coulter is an exception. Have you heard the things she's said about 9/11 widows? If you had, I suspect you wouldn't have said this;

In my opinion, Ann deserves all the hatred she gets, and it's an insult to the rest of the woman you mentioned to lump them with her.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion - I don't believe, however, that people are entitled to be vile, sub-humans when describing another person - but then, that's just my opinion.

As opposed to conservatives, who are such gleaming beacons of friendly discourse and would never say anything nasty about a liberal, male or female. Right.

Conservatives say many nasty things about liberals in the course of "friendly discourse" - the difference is, conservatives don't resort to the vile, personal, degrading insult when being nasty - they just point out the liberal's idiocy, and that's nasty enough.

Can you name one conservative who's referred to a leading liberal female as a MILF? A whore? etc. I've seen this on American national TV and here on DP on more than one occasion. But, perhaps, that's what you consider "friendly discourse" - after all, you're on the side that claims to represent women - perhaps women in your circles consider being called a MILF and a whore as a compliment - who knows.

Conservatives here are so complimentary to Nancy Pelosi. Not.

There's a difference between being uncomplimentary and vile - in my opinion - when you start getting into the sexually degrading to describe someone of a different political bent, that's crossing the line - in my opinion - liberals feel free to do that on a regular basis and on national tv - I've seen it - but again, that's just my opinion, and since the OP asked people for their opinions, I gave mine.

If you can point out a post where I've said anything about Nancy Pelosi that uses the same language as is regularly used against Palin, Coulter, Malkin, etc., let me know and I'll apologize.

Well then you wouldn't like Ann Coulter.

That's a laughable assertion.

I suppose you were asleep when Rush Limbaugh went three days calling Sandra Fluke a slut.

In his analogy of someone wanting the government to force others to pay for her birth control was like being paid for having sex making her a slut/prostitute and those forcing others to pay for it, the pimps. That was day one. The second day because of the names he used in his analogy caused a firestorm and he went on trying to make a valid point but because his choice of words used the point was lost. He apologized for his choice of words not the point he was trying to make. All he would of had to do is point out while Fluke claimed her birth control cost her $3,000 for three years in law school, that a box of Trojans at WalMart costs a whopping 6 bucks and should have focused more time on the infringement of religious rights by forcing all employers to provide free contraceptive coverage even if it went against their religious beliefs.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.

And actually, a. Fluke wasn't talking about HER birth control, and b. "the pill" has other medicinal uses besides preventing pregnancy. Do we really need to dredge up all the bull**** lies the right made up to cover Saint Rush's ass once again?

And all of THAT is irrelevant to the discussion ... Rush Limbaugh used sexist language to describe an (at the time) prominent liberal female, something CanadaJohn claimed didn't happen from the conservative side.

I'm not covering anyone's ass. I just stated Limbaugh chose his words poorly but at least he was trying to make a valid point in the process. And for the record Fluke, when giving testimony included herself as one who struggled to pay for her contraceptives because she was on a public interest scholarship. She had a list of sob stories of all these poor women who were having to go without their birth control because they could not afford it yet once again that box of $6.00 Trojans at WalMart wasn't mentioned as an option. It's a stellar example of how BS is allowed to become law. The difference between Limbaugh's rant and Bashir's is Limbaugh actually had a valid point, Bashir due to his ignorance of needing to relate the word slavery to racism was assinine. And Limbaugh didn't suggest someone do something hideously physical to Fluke over her political views like Bashir did when he suggested someone defecate in Palin's mouth and piss in her eyes.

Rush did request a sex tape of Fluke.

Rush Scrubs 'Slut' Comment, Demand for Fluke Sex Tapes - The Wire

Nobody is defending Bashir. He's an asshat. But go back, look at the exchange between myself and CJ, and his claim that conservatives don't use nasty rhetoric toward liberal women. It's undeniable fact that they do.

That's not even getting into the constant "Moochelle" references to the First Lady, or some of the horrible stuff said about Hillary Clinton or Nancy Pelosi.

The main story Fluke told, a box of condoms wouldn't fix, because the woman she was referring to needed the pill for other medicinal purposes (to treat polycystic ovary syndrome). Also, she wasn't asking for other people to pay for it, she just wanted it covered in the university health plan that her tuition went toward. You have a severe misunderstanding of her argument.

Also, if the Fluke-Rush controversy proved anything, it's that Limbaugh has no idea how oral contraception works.

No I don't have a severe misunderstanding of the argument. Fluke's comments about ovarian cysts have been proved false by those in the medical field. She was well aware that Georgetown's policies did not cover contraceptives. If that was such an important factor for her, she should have chose another school. That's the beauty of individualism, you make your own choices where collectivists keep insisting on the one size fits all.

The University of Chicago disagrees.

PCOS Treatment - The University of Chicago Medicine

Traditionally, physicians have prescribed oral contraceptives (birth control pills) to regulate menstrual periods in women with PCOS. Oral contraceptives contain a combination of hormones (estrogen and progesterone). Used properly, oral contraceptives can assure that women menstruate every four weeks.

Because they cause women to menstruate regularly (and, thus, shed the endometrial lining), oral contraceptives as treatment for PCOS help to reduce a woman's risk of endometrial cancer.

Several other sources I found claim that OCs plus hormone therapy can help.

And there are several more out there that disagree. If the medical field disagrees then what basis is there for this to even be discussed in making laws? It should have no bearing. And why in Sam Hill would a woman attended the oldest Jesuit/Catholic university in the country if contraceptives were so important to her to be covered in her insurance? It's BS at its best.

Make it a good one!

1. He should have been fired.
2. He can shove the apology up his ass.
3. Neither 1 nor 2
4. I Don't care.

I didn't waste my time at the link.

I don't like Palin and have no use for her and I don't care what anyone says about her.

When I think about her the first word that pops into my mind is ass-clown.

Which is not a word that I use on a regular basis.

Fair enough - if you consider Sandra Fluke a "leading liberal female", you have a point. I don't listen to American radio and have no interest in doing so, but you're right, Limbaugh did use those terms. Not to dismiss or condone Limbaugh's comments, but there is a slight difference here - Sarah Palin did nothing to suggest or promote that she was in any way a whore or a MILF - I hope we can agree on that - Sandra Fluke, however, went on a national TV and speaking tour to indicate that she needed to have the government provide her with sufficient contraceptives because it cost her too much to pay for them herself. At the very least, Ms. Fluke was admitting to being somewhat promiscuous.

Fluke did serve her purpose to the Democrat party and Obama, however, because single men in their 50s and 60s are now required to purchase maternity care as part of their healthcare insurance package under the ACA. That's what's known as a useful idiot.

You obviously know less about Sarah Palin than a lot of people know.

I'm not going to waste my time telling you all about the 'ladies' sordid history but I will tell you that you can learn a lot on the internet.

Yeah, very true. Even our military is buying the boots they wear from China. Yep, that is another aspect to think about.

I read that our flags are made there? If the boots our military are wearing are made in China, I guess it's possible.
