What I don't get is why are people actually OFFENDED that I don't consider B. Obama my president? Like why start a thread about this to begin with?

Who cares. I'm not hurting anyone so it's not really your business what I think or anyone else.

We're not living in pre-Christian Rome where refusing to worship Caesar was punishable by death. B Obama is a pretty arrogant fellow, but he hasn't stooped to THAT level yet.

So everyone relax yo.

Fortunately, we have a series of checks and balances when the POTUS steps out of line and becomes someone elses president.

I didn't vote for the MoFo so I don't see him as 'my' president. Nor do I see the bluer parts of this land being 'my' country.

Plus I'm assured the 'other' side feels the same way.

Sorry but 'we' are currently a divided land.

Other than Texas.....I consider all of the United States my country....Texas is in a whole other world though. It is, afterall....the land that gave us GWB, Ted Cruz and Rick Perry....

Here were my thoughts on Bush as president 5 years ago:

My thoughts :

Bush is an prick. He's probably the worst president I'll ever get to see short of the president who decides it'll be a good idea to use nukes again. He's a guy who I'd probably have a beer with but wouldn't let him try to fix a working clock. Yes I'm serious. He's a guy who's jokes have annoyed me as a liberal. He's a guy who has sent my family members to fight a war I don't believe in. I don't like him.

However, he is still the President of what is still the most powerful country in the world. He's been the most protected man for the last 8 years for a reason. He's the CinC of our military. He's a guy who aside from all his faults doesn't deserve to be disrespected at least in such a classless manner. I don't even think he needs to be disrespected to show disagreement with him.

Any president of the US is my president; political disagreements aren't enough for me to turn my back on my country's leader.

USA! USA! USA!

California gave us gold, anti-Chinese sentiment, movies, hippies, and Ronald Reagan.

Modest improvement at best.

He is not my president because I don't believe was legally elected and not qualified to be president.

Hey, isn't that what the left threatened to do after Bush II was elected? Leave?

FWIW, I'll stay right here in 'my' country of Texas.

They threated to leave but none did.

I'd like to see Sam Houston come back and spank Cruz, Perry, Gohmert and the rest over his knee..

I don't want to throw my country under the bus, I want to throw Obama under it.

I sure don't. I don't treat the red states as if they are some foreign land.

He is the President of my country, so yes, but the option says that "Yes, I always support" him, which I do not. If something is an internal political issue, the blanket statement is unacceptable.

^ This, basically.

Also, I do not think I've ever referred to any President as "my" President.

I consider all of the United States my country including Texas.

I consider Los Angeles just being under occupation by foreign invaders.

President Obama will be the President of the USA until another Democrat takes his place.

Anyone who's not happy in the USA will always find that the entrances to the exits are wide open.

Deal with it.

Is that your version of, "America - love it or leave it"? Obama - love him or leave the country?

I think it does sound familiar to that long ago time X..
He has outflanked you..
Is that your version of, "America - love it or leave it"? Obama - love him or leave the country?
As for GOP money, we already know that love it or leave it applies here..
It means the GOP skips the USA with their money after earning it here and become a GOP tax scofflaw..

Is the President YOUR President?

I occasionally hear people say, "President <insert name here> is not MY President!" Usually by people who intensely dislike the current President. To me, this places party loyalty, and to a lesser extent ideology, above country.

Have you ever had such sentiments?

Actually, is it really bad to place ideology above country? If the US (or more acurately, those acting under the color of US authority) say, started systematically searching houses looking for guns to confiscate that would run directly counter to my ideology and I would not change my ideology just because it's the US doing it. I might even be actively disobedient.

I have been to the Chisos mountains in Texas, after taking the Texas Eagle to San Antonio..
Even got checked by border guys on the way back..
Dozens of folks swimming, bathing in a river under an interstate bridge
I consider all of the United States my country including Texas.
I like all that cool Sam Houston stuff..

I consider Los Angeles just being under occupation by foreign invaders.
Been in California a lot since '61 when Dad got stationed at Travis..He was like a Priest, rotate every few years--to Scott in 1964..
National Parks and the rest of Nature in CA are truly a gift..John Muir was huge in CA and back here in WI..

not this over-the-top gun distortion----tell you what X, I'll personally intervene if someone comes for your gun---
you guys already have internet connections to militia and so one..
what a phony libertarian argument designed to just get people riled up over an oldie-but-goodie around DP---they're coming for my guns--LOL

I didn't know that George Soros was a Republican.

That's exactly what I mean..Thanx for the example..
**** John Kerry for doing that and all the ****ing people he rode in with..
This is crooked, gilded age capitalism and already gave us one depression..
We're well on our way to the 2nd depression
Kerry should have to pay the same fee when he brings his ****in **** back to the USA..

Can't say I blame Kerry a bit.
Of course you can't..
You are against Sen. Coburn's plan to burn at least one trillion in loopholes in ten years..

Awesome, when you come running over with your strongly worded letter to protect my gun rights, maybe I can get away while the government agents are doubled over with laugher.

I was using an example of ideology I believe strongly in, NIM. Let's see if I can think of something you can understand. Say the government mandated that you could only write Obama one fan letter a week...

Democratic asswipes are out there, but much fewer and further between..
Besides they are my asswipes and support my candidates..
I didn't know that George Soros was a Republican.
You and I may live to see the first trillionaire APACHE..
Think they'll be philanthropists to write off taxes??

Northern California is pretty beautiful.

**** Obama too while you've got me in a good mood..
Giving GOP ********ers any ammo really pisses me off..
Now he has to bring back blow-boy Clinton to get him out of another mess..

As long as you don't take your weapons to the statehouse in Texas like those stupid mother-****in rednecks, you'll be fine..

I was using an example of ideology I believe strongly in, NIM. Let's see if I can think of something you can understand.
The gun is the new Patriotism from the '80's..
Make sure you're concealed-carry in your 4 x 4..
Say the government mandated that you could only write Obama one fan letter a week...
I'm only giving to local candidates until 2015 after Dems abandoned Buono..
Dems can get upset at their party also, but it has intelligence--GOP/TEAts not so much..

Did Gore make the right decision for the USA by giving up in 2000??
Did Congressional Dems make the right decision by not indicting the whole lot of the Reagan administration over Iran-contra??
Did Obama/Holder make the right decision to let the Iraq war go and not have hearings??
Gore was beat in 2000. There was nothing to 'give up'. Iran Contra...pretty sure there were a LOT of hearings. And as for hearings on the Iraq war...there is a reason dems didnt pursue it. See...when Bill Clinton and damn near every elected democrat from 1992 til 2004 said the exact same thing as GWB...its kinda hard to say "yeah...but BUSH lied..."
