Don't count my vote. I thought you were asking about me. I changed my lean from conservative to moderate a while back because the "new conservativism" doesn't fit me anymore. I think I've 'bent over backwards' because I'd been donating money to the party. I've stopped.

Stop harping on abortion. It's legal. Get over it. If states want to regulate it time-wise, I'm not opposed. But abortion rights are never going away. Find a compromise on immigration reform for Mexicans. And, let's be honest, that's what it's all about anyway. Mexicans. Find a compromise on something that will guarantee we're rooting out welfare fraud. I saw a black woman on television yesterday that has seven children all being supported on welfare. We are paying to destroy our country...to bring little liberals into the world who will lack education and all, in one way or another, looking for the (nonexistant) Obamaphone. Tackle public pensions. Reform the tax codes.

Republicans are hardly speaking for me anymore. Vote Democratic? They're not even talking the same language.

Whether or not hardline conservatives want to acknowledge Obama's entire first term outreach to Republicans is irrelevant. Independents remember it, and independents (as the recent elections show) are the only force that matters in an ideologically charged climate.

Maggie, I like you, I really do, but there were times I could only shake my head. You had a Conservative moniker, but you often sounded like a RINO at best.

There is no "new Conservative", just as there is no "very Conservative" You're either a Conservative, embracing conservatism, or you're not. We all won't agree n everything, but there is enough that binds; Limited Government, Low Taxes, Liberty, Equality under the law, strong national defense, secure borders. The difference is how to achieve it, and how to defeat The Socialists and their perverted ideology.

Me, I prefer to take them head on and expose their lies for what they are; mock and ridicule their idiocy at every turn possible. It's the only way I can see that works... electro-shock them enough with the truth and hope a few snap out of their blind funk.

You see, you're honest. I like that. I think your lean is pretty spot on right now. The Conservatives didn't leave you, you never were one. One day, I hope you do embrace Conservatism unabashedly.

Anyone who takes a look at history will agree that it's a total waste of time to try to work with today's GOP on anything.

Which is one reason why a lot of people won't miss the GOP after it goes out of business in about thirty years.

One of the advantages of making a convincing (almost embarrassingly deferential) effort at cooperating with your political rivals during the first term of your Administration is that no honest person doubts who the more moderate party was when cooperation is no longer tenable.

So much so Obama was able to ride it comfortably through the shutdown fiasco.

Zimmer, I really could not care one bit for you either way, really I don't, but whenever you post, I can only shake my head. You have a Conservative moniker, but you often sound like an extremist at best. Only an extremist would think there's only one right way to do something. Only an extremist would believe everyone else is stupid and only he/she is smart. Only an extremist would delude themselves into thinking taking a hard line on every issue would ever be successful.

I've discussed/debated with Maggie many times, and I find her beliefs to be conservative. But, unlike many extremist conservatives, she also is cognizant of reality and understands real life isn't the black and white you want it to be. I've discussed/debated with her several times and while I sometimes agree with her and sometimes disagree with her, the one thing I can never say about her is that she is unreasonable. It's a sad day when being reasonable gets one labeled with a term intended as an insult.

Regardless of the "republican party's lean" why shouldn't the president of the united states work with them since they do control one of the two houses of the legislature? Or is he just your president working only for you and the left?

The word "conservative" - like "liberal" - has been grostesquely corrupted. You are wrong. "Conservative" does NOT mean ultra radical religious rightwing. From her messages, I would define Maggie as solidly "middle of the road," not controlled by partisanship.

At this time, the Republican Party leadership is NOT conservative and the Democratic Party leadership is not "liberal." Rather, they both share the same traits. Incompetency. Willing to say anything for a vote - and seeing no reason to do anything they promise. Total hypocrites. Having totally lost control over administrative government, budgets, and non-elected department heads. Indifferent if not supportive of government waste, theft and fraud. Afraid to even mention massive social security, disability and welfare fraud. Not addressing that welfare laws now all but demand people divorce and pay thousands of dollars a year reward to single-parent...

There is no such thing as a "conservative" party in the USA, and the public wouldn't vote for it if it did. Despite the raging attacks against Romney for saying so, it is true that the overwhelming majority of people now look to government to be their provider, protector and safety net - and virtually everyone now has been made to some degree dependent on government.

Nostrildamus... I asked you about your handy, dandy prediction machine. Where did you get it? Is it a rubbing type machine, or is it a method that produces predictions under the use of heavy drugs? Obama has always understood that not only is it irrelevant if there is any truth to what he says, but that lying is politically advantageous.

For example, SAYING he is going to close GITMO - so cheered by the left for the words - while not doing so thus staying in good graces with the military and defense community.

To incessantly publicly curse Wall Street, Bankers, the super rich - cheered by "low information lower and middle class voters - while giving Wall Street, Bankers and the super rich everything they want and hundreds of billions of dollars.

The ACA is the most extreme example. He promised free insurance and healthcare to the poor and middle class. And getting lucky that Republicans agree and call it socialism.

In fact, the ACA completely trashes healthcare and insurance for working people, the poor and lower middle class - while giving the rich corporations what they wanted - to no longer have tol provide healthcare insurance to their employees - something no Republican could have pulled off for the super rich.

I have always pointed out that Obama is a pathological liar and a shill for corporate America and international corporations.

To continue to prove Obama is a liar is pointless. It is not JUST that he is virtually always lying and saying exactly the opposite of what is true, but that is in political tactics and is he is so good at it that is why he is president.

I don't know, if he thinks he bent over backwards, right way around or not. But he should have grabbed the chance, when he had it. He could have delayed the hurried rush into ACA and nobody would have known how incompetently it was stuck together and how far he was willing to bend the truth and misspeak reality to cheat them.

I didn't insult her, in fact she "LIKED" my post. I said it was nice she realized she wasn't a Conservative... I respect that. At least she is honest. I hope one day she comes back as a Conservative and not a watered down version of one.

It's hilarious to see how wound up I've got the leftists. They spring at every chance, but they just can't seem to score, which must piss them off even more. And why can't you score? because I'm consistent in my beliefs. It's not complex. I didn't like Bush's spending any more than Obama's. I don't like Republicans lurching left any more than I like leftists shooting heroin into the system. I didn't particularly like Romney, but compared to Obama... no comparison. I liked Alan Keyes over Bush43 and McCain, and McCain should run as a Demokrat.

Consistent, and open minded. If there was something compelling about socialist legislation or socialism... where someone could show me where it has worked or is working, I might consider changing back to the Left... but Leftist legislation is destructive.
