Who is the more sinister liar?

Oh my, I wonder what it was like in your classroom?

Did Republicans try to destroy Carter? No
Felonious Bill Clinton caused his own problems.
Obama said he'd be a uniter, said there was no red or blue America, just the US of A... and then on Day 1 tells R's they can't listen to Rush and get things done. Obama has lied about Benghazi, run guns to Mexico, slandered a cop as stupid, and lied, lied and lied about ObamaKare.

Demokrats ought to try running honest people.

Nixon or Obama... who is the more sinister liar?
You've got your repetitive regurgitated TPs all lined up for Veterans' weekend..btw, your K belongs with the RepubLie Kons this century..you couldn't possibly imagine what my Chem/physics students learned unless you finished as high as Carter did at the Naval Academy

Peace came in Vietnam because Congress refused any more funding, not because Nixon wanted it. Nixon won in 1968 because he had a "secret plan" to end the war...FIVE YEARS later when we surrendered the country to North Vietnam. There is no honor in anything Nixon did in Vietnam but plenty of shame.

Digital History

That invasion had Lon Nol's approval and in fact he wanted it. When Lon Nol overthrew Sihanouk, the North Vietnamese didn't really care as long as he left their sanctuaries alone. But the Cambodian people had a hatred of the Vietnamese and wanted him to throw the North Vietnamese out of Cambodia. So to go along with U.S. wishes he closed the port of Sihanoukville and his troops marched east. That was the wrong thing to do if he wanted to remain in power. But these decisions were made by Lon Nol himself. I have no doubt Nixon made plenty of promises to Lon Nol he was unable to keep. But Nixon had about much to do with causing the Killing Fields of Pol Pot as Churchill had to do with causing the Holocaust and Hitlers attempt to exterminating the Jews

Anyone who doesn't say Nixon is a partisan hack.

I wouldn't go that far. "I am not a crook" is not leaps and bounds more dishonest than "if you like your policy, you can keep your policy".

This is, of course, presuming that you believe Obama's statement is a lie as opposed to a case of immense stupidity. Pick your poison.

Political shortcut. If we look at the actual policies being eliminated, him explaining it back then would have complicated matters. But, he probably should have mentioned that crappy, under-insured policies would be swept away.

It really does take a certain level of GOP-worship to say Obama lies worse than Nixon.

yeah people dying including an ambassador being sodomized and then murdered isn't nearly as bad as Nixon trying to cover up a break in that did not change the election

I would've been good with that. "Somewhat mistaken" is better than "outright lie".

Because of that, he's not much better than "I am not a crook" or "Read my lips - no new taxes". When you make pretty bold claims in a very rigid manner, you allow for brushback that gives your political enemies to call you out on BS.

Really?

Why not offer an opinion why this would be.
I am very interested in your rationale for this.
With such a clear-cut opinion, the rationale should be equally clear, sober and absent of partisanship.

I admit I am a partisan, a former Lib with an open mind who left the flock.
I look forward to your non-partisan, lucid response.

Fire away honey.

For most people, that statement is true. The reason people are losing their coverage is because it sucks too bad, the ACA has provisions in it where policies must keep a certain standard of coverage, and since about 5% of people's policies don't meet those standards, they lose those policies.

Was it a lie? Yeah, technically, but his statement does apply to most Americans. Trying to compare Obama to Nixon is just ridiculous.

A liar is a liar, but Nixon takes the cake in the "sinister" department.
Obama is just a smooth-talking mediocrity caught in the web of his party's unworkable policies.
Now, Nixon truly was a "transformational figure": from his disastrous economic policies to his cynical "Southern strategy", we are still living with dire consequences of his actions.

What about his liberal drug policy, which for the first time authorized drug treatment instead of prison for minor drug offenses.

Yea, that one has got to go too! Better let them rot in jail for having a joint!

Such a supporter of the CLean Air Act that he created the Environmental Protection Agency! Yea, that complete tool of corporations has to go, it has ruined our environment for decades.

And that damned Occupational Health and Safety Administration, things are so much more deadly since that organization was created! Nixon should be shot for that alone!

He also tried to get health care reform passed, which would have mandated employer paid health care, and subsidies for the rest.

I can go on, but the funny thing is that most of those who blast President Nixon the most have no idea what all he really did for the country.

Only Nixon could go to China - Old Vulcan Proverb

Well, "Read my lips - no new taxes" was "right for most people" as well, and Herbie Bush caught a lot of crap too. Hell, if you wanna play that game, we can argue what Slick Willie meant by "sexual relations" that he did not have.

You're not doing your fellow Democrats any favors by attempting to quantify or justify his "lie".

Yeah, I'd say it's about as equal to the first Bush's no new taxes line; was it wrong? Yeah. Does it scar his entire presidency? Hell no. I'm not trying to justify it, just put it in context and point out the absurdity in people trying to compare him with one of the most corrupt Presidents in our history.

Technically it was a lie?

Has Obama been supplying crack pipes and smack across the nation? Well, that's what Socialism is at its core... a philosophy that relies on addicts and ignorants.

Technically Socialists said Felonious Bill Clinton didn't have sex with that woman... changing the meaning of sex. Simply ignore the fact he stuck his member in her yap and blew his wad all over her, but technically it wasn't sex. Not to mention his hairless Cuban Dildo Cigar.

Technically speaking, Obama has blown his wad all over us. Some seem to like it, and even defend it. Just a mere enjoyable technicality from a pathological liar.
Pass the Obama piece (no misspelling) pipe... hey... why is it shaped like Obama's dick? Never mind...

All Americans are losing and will continue to lose their policies.
Nobody will keep their plan if they like it. All a big fat lie.

The plan is to have government be the decider. Ask Ron Fournier, who is lamenting Obama's lies because he is screwing the chance at single payer, North Korean Kare.

He's not even in the top 10%, YS. Lincoln suspended habeus corpus and jailed dissentors. Harding essentially made himself available to the highest bidder (Teapot Dome). There are presidents out there who did much worse than Nixon, but he's everyone's favorite scapegoat. He was guilty of excessive ambition and turning a blind eye.

It always puzzled me that Nixon was one of the most Liberal Presidents of all time, yet he is absolutely reviled by Democrats.

Then you have Kennedy, one of the most Conservative in the last century, yet he is praised.

This tells me it is all about their party, and not their actual beliefs or agendas.

I'd say he's in the top 10%, he's not the worst, but what he did was pretty damning.

As far as I'm concerned, they were both outstanding presidents. And yes, Nixon was indeed quite liberal in policy while Kennedy was quite conservative. If Kennedy was alive today, he'd have liberals fuming at him. They'd call him a war hawk for his handling of BoP and CMC with Khruschev, and a thief for trying to pass the then-largest corporate tax rate cut in history (later done by LBJ). Of course, in the 60s Democrats were still worthy of respect. It wasn't until the 70s that Democrats turned into the sniveling pile of bitch that you see today.

But, but, but you don't explain yourself.

How does someone... Nixon... who covered up a 3rd rate burglary that he did not mastermind compare with a president who failed to protect Americans in an area of the world known as a terror threat, and then lies about the dead Americans that resulted from his miserable judgement?

Just election year politics? What happened to the "transparency"?

How does a 3rd rate burglary that Nixon did not mastermind compare with a president who lied about "if you like your plan, you can keep your plan"? An effort to co-opt 6% of the economy for the benefit of his party? And then the sleazeball turns around and lies about the lies... claiming the American public WERE NOT LISTENING.

Just election year politics? What happened to the "transparency"?

I am waiting to hear how the coverup from a 3rd rate burglary is anywhere close to the same league as what Obama has lied about repeatedly.
I look forward to seeing if someone can make a halfway plausible case.
If you can... Obama wants you pronto at his side; good pay and benefits and you don't have to be on his sucky healthkare plan. Val Jarrett is obviously stumped as she had Obama do a mea culpa.

Here is your chance at the big leagues...

True, almost no one was HURT by Nixon's lies

At least Nixon had the gumption to resign when he was caught in lies and scandal. Obama just whines and tries to pin things on the Republicans.

See my post about partisan hacks, TD.

Yeah to me a partisan hack would be one talking about Nixon given there was no loss of life and no one really suffered (save for the GOP). and Nixon was mainly a welfare socialist so the hawkishness comes from damning him because he was GOP rather than the fact his politics are something liberals should like

Absolutely hilarious. Was this before or after he made numerous public speeches and appearances emphatically denying his involvement? How about the destruction of the pertinent evidence that implicated him in his lie and scandal? Attempted to fire the prosecutor assigned to the case? Till his last days he balked at the notion of resigning, only doing so when Congress and his own party vowed to impeach. Just an historically bankrupt post.
