I know you can't really sign up for obamacare yet because his site is so screwed up but I am wondering how many of you under 30 people in here will sign up when you can. Most of you voted for him so I expect you to go along with his agenda but we shall see.

Depends on the cost . I'm hopping the largest kinks in the system will be fixed before I have to make the decision . If it is not fixed I might as well pay the fine . Hope for the best prepare for the worst . Sick of all this democrat and republican nonsense it seems as if people these days are voting for the least of two evils and are stuck between a rock and hard place when it comes to elections .

From what I hear the cost is doubling for people in their 20s so I will put you in the pay the fine column.

The punishment really starts in 2016. If you don't like premiums today, just wait.

I imagine it will be the same percentage of young people taking self responsibility as the percentage of baby boomers who have taken the self responsibilty of wisely put away for a realistic retirement.

So none. :)

There's a larger number than you might expect. Some of us listened to our parents who were raised during the depression and believed what they said.

There used to be a pyramid of investment that started with insurance and savings and then moved on to clearing the debts and then on to investments.

It's all pretty common sense stuff, but, unfortunately, the get rich quick schemes that were too good to be true attracted many.

As WC Fields said in his role as Lardon E. Whipsnade, "You can't cheat on honest man."

I think you're probably right. Premiums today are actuaries' best guesses on sign-up numbers. If their best guesses are wrong, we're going to see dramatic price increases as early as next year.

I believe that it's part of the design of the bill. Democrats wanted the economic impact to be minimal through the first couple election cycles after which the true goals of the bill will surface. They are in no particular order, wealth redistribution, decimation of the private insurance industry and increasing dependency on the Federal government.

Until the true costs are exposed, we are boiling frogs.

Not enough options, frankly. You don't necessarily have to pay the fine if you don't sign up. There are plenty of exceptions. Also, plenty of young people already have insurance or are on their parent's insurance. Bad poll.

Yup, I'm a high school senior and my parents voted for Obama, and I would have too if I was old enough.
I'm on their insurance.

You have a crappy lib attitude. I am living proof some of us did save and plan wisely for our retirement years. I am 60 and have income from a rental and money in the bank and IRAs and a 401k. Don't be such a childish snob and I notice you did not answer the question in the OP.

You wouldn't be so smug if you understood that your future is being stolen from you.

That brings up a good point. First Obama said you can stay on mom and dads insurance and then he claims the healthy young people signing up for obamacare is what will pay for old and unhealthy people. Seems like having your cake and eating it to. I am coming to the quick conclusion in this thread that most of you lib 20 somethings in here are still relying on mommy and daddy to buy your insurance.

I don't know. It takes sacrifice to put away for the future and don't know how many are really realistically making those kinds of sacrifices.

Am afraid many think they can live on a percentage of what they make now but when retired they are going to have a lot of time on their hands. With that free time there is going to be an urge to travel and spend money but how many will have enough.

I hope I am wrong.

Most of us baby boomers had parents and or grandparents that lived through the depression. Saving and planning was drilled into us from a very early age.

Anecdotal evidence is not a trend, when actual evidence points to the contrary.

I do find it funny how to call someone a liberal because they disagree with your premise.

I know a lib when I read one by their attitude. You are a young lib that won't answer the question in the OP and the reason is you don't want to admit daddy buys your insurance or that you will take the fine.

The big Constitutional complaint has been you don't get to make a decision. You have no choice, you do as you are told. You will have insurance or you will pay a fine like a common criminal.

This isn't your fathers America any more. It's now "Do as I say, not as I do America."

That's what 52% of Americans wanted.

First of all, you're making a lot of assumptions about the enthusiasm for Obama in my generation.

Second of all, not wanting to get bled hardly counts as "going along with his agenda." It's policy now, dude.

And to answer your question, I don't know. I'm currently on employer insurance. It's terrible. Not because of my employer -- they've truly done their best -- but because insurance companies don't want to give decent rates to young people, especially if you don't have any kids they can bleed you for.

And Obamacare is exactly the same. While I will be able to go into the market if I wish to, from what I can see, it's the same story. The insurance is crap, and it doesn't cost any less. But hey, at least I'm not in the South, where it would cost me a lot more.

America has a record of trampling the most potentially productive demographic in the country for the last few decades. That doesn't seem to be stopping now.

If your employer insurance is terrible it will not meet the new standards and you will be forced onto obamacare.
