Does Obama want a government shut down?

Does Obama want a government shut down?

Your thoughts please.

I don't think either side particularly want a government shut down, and I don't think Obama wants one.

I do think however that both sides have other things they want, and are absolutely willing to let the government shut down if it means getting what they want eventually.

The current Republicans have the reputation as the party of "NO!" They don't have a reputation that can be damaged by a shutdown. They have opted to kowtow to their TeaBaggers to their detriment. I repeat, "a flock of birds, a herd of cows, a gaggle of geese, and a Congress of baboons." Some things don't change.

I believe they were elected to serve their constituents, not anyone else...

Will Boehner blink and lift the "Hastert" rule when the Senate cleans up this steaming spray of liquid manure?
I'm hearing he only has one more of these to stay Speaker.
Btw, why do House Repubs like to wreck the Christmas economy, this being the third in a row?

I don't know if Obama wants a federal government shutdown, but I want a federal government shutdown, permanently.

Actually the ACA will go into effect, and the Repubs will be able to campaign that they tried to stop its implementation but the President was willing to shut down government to keep it...

Obama would welcome a government shutdown, but not for reasons that have anything to do with budgets or healthcare.

Obama's role is to disrupt the progress of the United States and to create as much social order breakdown as possible. Obama has so much hatred for this county and the historical American culture that anything resulting in dissention, confusion and ultimately great harm is viewed as a positive.

Political maneuvering as we have seen with past differences between presidents and congress is always subordinated to Obama's personal agenda of hatred and destruction, coupled with angering traditionalists and white people in general.

That is why there seems to be so little consistency and reason in his actions both here and worldwide.

I can't tell if this is a shining example of Poe's Law or a post that's intended to be serious.

The "Obama hates America" meme is one of the stupidest the right wing has pulled from its collective ass. I don't even particularly like Obama, but sometimes I just have to point out how ridiculous some of the stuff you guys claim about him truly is.

You really don't buy into that meme do you AP?
I know you're giddy over the Tide and all.

They cannot stop it, and it is a virtual train wreck, so yes, the strategy would probably work...

Exactly, Paul. Exactly.
I've posted something similar.
And if they can actually get a Senate vote, the Senators up in 2014 will have to defend their vote.

They are guaranteed a vote to strip the defunding language... Good evening bubba...

I think it's going to be pushed as a mere majority vote to strip the amendment so it will still serve it's purpose ... maybe even better as a majority vote.
How're things, Paul?

Alabama is 2-0, so things are good...

How about that ad where a mean-looking Uncle Sam pops up between a woman's legs instead of the doctor?

Same answer as last night. I haven't seen it, and I'm not really interested enough to seek it out...

And Repubs in states like IL, such as Sen. Kirk, will vote for HeritageCare as he has on Toomey/Manchin.
Fly-over Dems in LA, AR and so on will be given a pass on ACA just as on T/M.
And I haven't tapped on you since the "old days".

Can't lose too many of those flyovers and still win the stripping vote.

We'll see how many Senate Repubs vote to sustain the filibuster.
After this November, it will be 55-45.
A net 5 Dems can vote No with Biden breaking the tie.
Kirk is a Yes, which makes 6 Dems, which covers everyone's tush.

Reid is going to attempt to strip it with only a majority vote.
