How important is Preventing Iran from acquiring Nuclear Weapons?

The vast majority of the time I would agree they would not be suicidal, however the ONLY religious group that has shown itself to be suicidal or to use suicide with the promise of eternal life and mixing religious / political goals against others in recent times has been the Islamic religion. Certainly I don't want to paint a broad brush here, but given a choice between say Peru getting nukes and Iran getting nukes, I'd be much more worried about Iran.

What Middle East government has done something that they knew would get them obliterated? I haven't seen any suicidal acts, have you?

Not at a country level, but I guess there's always a first time. And really - when the leaders and soldiers of a country believe so strongly that they will live forever in paradise and are taught such a thing since first out of the womb, would they worry about being obliterated? I don't think so...

I think you know that that is not true. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not military targets, even though the strategic objective may have been, although you could say that about any attack on centres of civilian population.
