We've uselessly cut a million public sector jobs since the assclown repups came to town. What happened to trickle-down? More like torrential up since the 1980's. What about that $1 creating $1.7? Reaganomics = $17 trillion TAD

Sorry, you get no reaction from me about a million public sector jobs being lost. There's probably another million, at least, that could be eliminated. Has your country collapsed with fewer 9-5ers taking in big bucks to **** with your lives?

If we stop developing tech, we will stall, which we don't know how to do. We are an exponential curve. Fission to fusion. F-35. Looming pension disasters and state and municipal bankrupcies building for decades. Skirmishes all over the world. Worldwide bankrupcies.
Firstly, new growth in population should pay for itself without any increase in tax rates.

Secondly, technology is absolutely useless unless it makes things easier and less costly to perform so if technology is increasing the budget, something's wrong. Technology is great for businesses and starting new businesses - running a government should be simple, keep it that way.

Technological research used to focus on making us stronger, able to do more important things easier, help us live longer, etc. Now, far too much of research is wasted on developing things that keep us on our fat asses longer, wasting our lives.

He did a terrible job.

He lost 3,000 Americans on 9/11, then he topped that by losing 4,500 US troops in Iraq which was no threat to the USA. That's just the dead, we'll be taking care of the wounded for a long time.

He didn't tell muslims to be stupid enough to respond with violence when we call them violent. Sadam Husein was a threat to the innocent people he used chemical weapons on

a million public sector jobs lost.
har if we got the gubbermint out of all the crap it's involved in and privatized it we could git rid of ten million more then them folks could git on the 99 weeks of unemployment and food stamps until the effect of losing all that deadweight was overcome and the economy was booming again 'cept gubbermint employees are next to worthless so they might still have a tough time finding a job?

I fully agree that actions of Ronald Reagan helped bring an end to the Soviet Union. For example his speech at the Berlin Wall and the arms race of the 1980's. Though I feel that far too much of the credit goes to Ronald Reagan himself. Reagan himself was a laid back executive. His cabinet is where all the works of his administration came from, Gipper was effectively just the "Okay-guy".

I think Reagan had only few to do with the Fall of the Iron Curtain. I'd give the many East Bloc people going on the streets to protest the credit foremost, then the Soviet leadership of Gorbachev who had the right ideals and readiness to end the Cold War.

Reagan's arms race just helped making Gorbachev realize that the USSR wouldn't be able to compete on the long run. And yeah, he held a nice speech at the Berlin Wall, like Obama in Berlin in 2008. That's it. Reagan had only very few to do with it.

I wouldn't be as harsh as you - but I do believe there are too many people working in government doing jobs that government has no business doing.

How did that threaten the USA? Was it worth losing 4,500 American soldiers lives and who knows how many trillions of dollars over? I don't think so.

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP

More to the story, on the day JFK took the oath of office, Eisenhower informed JFK of the CIA plan to invade Cuba. Eisenhower never signed off on the plan. Eisenhower told JFK not to sign off on the Bay of Pigs invasion until there was a "popular" Cuban government in exile. Then if you sign off on the plan you must use U.S. military aircraft to control the air space over the beach and provide close air support for the invading forces. As usual JFK ignored Eisenhower's advice and relied on the advice of those Harvard educated buddies he always surrounded himself with known as "The Young and Brightest" who would also be responsible for getting us in a shooting war in Vietnam.

Citation so I can "fact check" please. :)

You, Reagan and PATCO. He hated Hollywood unions also. Didn't mind acting his way through WW II with John Wayne. Why so little love for government/public sector, like they're worse than the plague. Overtime, Per Diem and part-time workers saves no money

Go to the frickin library. Keep researching history. Pay attention every time the CIA makes a dump of declassified information. Pay a little more attention to Eisenhower. And most of all avoid revisionist history.

Okay, soooo no actual facts supporting your comment to check. Thanks. :)

See, you're just not getting me. I have no problem with government workers, per se, there's just too damn many of them doing things that governments aren't supposed to be doing. Why is there a Department of Education at the federal level, as an example, and why does it have a budget? I'm sure there are many fine people working in government - get them out of government.

Sorry Captain Adverse, I'm not your you know what. Do your own research.

Hint, research history from what history is written from. History isn't written from using the internet.

The lazy man acts like something that needs verification is "common knowledge." You make a claim of fact, it's up to you to back it up. Otherwise your claim is meaningless.

My best answer is to go back to Coburn's detailed outline of the federal budget in July of 2011. He didn't put it out until after the 2010 election. However, he had previously stated he would serve only 2 Senate terms.

Many "liberal" departments were started under Nixon/Ford.

We are on track to hit 21 trillion in the hole by the time 'the one' leaves office
the guy or gal that replaces him is going to inherit a bloody catastrophe
hah maybe they will be the best President out of the last dozen?

Especially if the House stays focused on repealing laws--more than passing them--their stated aim--not even Jesus Christ could come "down here" and work with these frickin loons. It will take a Christie RINO to solve things, for better or worse.

Going into the turn.
It's JFK by a nose with Ronnie Reagan. Clinton a length behind, with LBJ and Bush 41 neck and neck and Bush-43, Ford and Carter bring up the rear.
Obama seems to be still back at the gates. It looks like Obama is facing the wrong direction and can't back out.

I think JFK because he realized the roots of all evil in this country. It cost him his life.

I remember reading that heads of state didn't deal in assassination because they were all vulnerable. I also remember reading that there were rumours Kennedy had tried to have Castro assassinated.

Not much of a factual race-track announcer either? LOL

It's JFK in the lead with Reagan and Clinton neck and neck for second place, followed by Bush Sr. and Nixon fighting for fourth place. LBJ is just behind but: Obama, Bush Jr., Ford and Carter are all non-starters stuck at the post. :)

I just put Clinton neck-and-neck with JFK and Reagan(!) is a close 2nd.
Reagan's got to be a sentimental vote. The guy was a lunatic. I still can't believe he pulled off that Iran-Contra thing and got a pass from the same people who howled for Clinton's impeachment for dicking around outside his marriage. And as for JFK, if Squeaky Fromme had chambered a round before she pulled the trigger, Gerald Ford might be as fondly remembered.

I think Reagan because of his philosophy and because we felt good about ourselves as a country again after the stagflation and other failures of the 70's. Clinton seemed to do what Dick Morris and the polls told him to do, unless he was pressured by Gingrich, who was constantly an inch off of his ass. And JFK, what's the big deal about him, he had a great image. Like his dad said, "It's not what you are that counts, but what people think you are".

Curses!! My money is on JFK!!! LOL Hmmm, gotta get some more of the old 60's crowd in on the race..... ;)
