Well, fake "true partiots" as well as all the other attributes you posted. Progressives certainly are that and more.

Progressives are all a bunch of individual people with wildly different takes on what progressivism should be, like anyone of any lean.

But I suppose I shouldn't bother to try to educate someone who just muttered the bog standard hack line at me.

It's creepy how supposedly patriotic people seem to revel in the country's struggles. Especially with the undercurrent of "See? I told you it was wrong to be anything besides a white, middle class, heterosexual, rural Christian, male, and this is what you get for thinking you're not inferior." It also involves selectively ignoring the many many problems experienced by such people and how the dreaded city people (70-80% of Americans) get along just fine.

So yeah, smug sadistic bigotry doesn't help anyone, and it runs really contrary to the stated ideals of the people doing it.

Hey look!

Stockton is already corrupt and ravaged by crime, and went bankrupt long before Detroit. Why is it on the list of "who is next"?

Because the article said it had filed for bankruptcy. Why are you crying over something insignificant like Stockton's timeline, anyways?

This is exactly what I was thinking. "True patriots" reveling in the pain and suffering of their fellow countrymen, constructing ways to bend the narrative of what's really happening to suit their hackish political needs. Just enjoying and capitalizing upon the misery of these people. Getting their "comeuppance." Disgusting. Just disgusting.

But patriots support all* Americans.

* All white, male, cisgendered, conservative, Christian, adult Americans.

I can't answer the question here, I don't know enough about these cities and others to guess.

What I can say is that I live in Toronto, the third largest city in North America and fourth largest if you include Mexico City, and while we have our problems and political infighting, you won't find abandoned areas and slums to the extent that you find them in some American cities. We certainly have less afluent neighbourhoods, but our city council and municipal government and employees work very hard to keep on top of areas where thing may be deteriorating or getting run down and we put money into improvements in those areas - in fact, we have designated areas that receive higher levels of funding for infrastructure and services based on the income levels of the people living there and the special needs of the communities.

You can't have a large, vibrant, living city without this kind of diligence in ensuring that no part of the community is allowed to go to waste. What happened in Detroit really is a sin, in my eyes. I can't understand a city allowing itself to fall so far. It will never happen here in Toronto because the people of Toronto will never let it happen.

'A Few' - yeah right. Try again. This time without so much denial. this went on for decades.

I do not bash catholics every chance I get. Nice try again, but completely untrue which makes you a liar. (or at least someone that assumes too much based on ONE COMMENT posted on a website) so you can pidgeonhole me for making ONE commment, but the catholic church gets a pass from you because 'it was just a few of them)

By the way, a 'FEW' is about 3, maybe 4. Well, when you try 300 or 400, you might be a little closer to the truth (and that's just in recent times)

So you have to be a cop to provide evidience? really? what world do you live in again? Oh that's right, the land of denial. The newspapers never report any facts anyway, right?

Offereing proof to defend myself against your charges of calling me a liar is now classified as me getting 'high and mighty'. Again, really? I thought defending myself against people that call my FACTS 'FABRICATIONS' is completely justified and in no way, shape or form does it make me 'high and mighty'.

You brought it up in the second post in a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with religion, the Catholic Church, vatican city or child abuse... I'd say obsessed may likely be an accurate assessment.

Detroit has been ravaged with crime and corruption for decades. In a sense, it has received its comeuppance. So which city do you think will be next?

Just find another big city run by Democrats.

Overall, I think it's highly embarrassing over everything else that a city in the U S of A has to file bankruptcy.

We're not practicing what we preach, folks. We like telling other countries what they should and should not be doing, when we need to take care of our own doorsteps first.

Leftism and America fight each other. The caption is deceptive and needs to be changed.

The irony meter just exploded.

Gee, I'm sorry, all I did was question why your description so perfectly described Progressives, while at the same time you identified yourself as leaning Progressive.

Why would you think you could spend any time "educating" me, when according to you, everyone has a different take on what progressivism should be?

Obviously, your original description was meant to denegrate and insult "conservervatives", which I suppose should make the nothing but a bunch of "bog standard hack lines".

Because you obviously view politics through a cartoonish black and white lens, thus it's a waste of my time.

My original post was about the OP. I said nothing about conservatives, and I invite you to prove otherwise. I didn't even look at his lean, because I don't care. What he said was sad no matter what lean he was.

You are the one generalizing to millions of people, not I. Sucks being what you hate, huh?

You brought it up in the second post in a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with religion, the Catholic Church, vatican city or child abuse... I'd say obsessed may likely be an accurate assessment.

And you'd be wrong. Unless you can find evidence of this alleged and nonexistent obsession. It was brought up as a sarcastic answer meant SPECIFICALLY for the OP.

It was a poll of cities. The city I answered with wasn't on the list - that's the only crime here.

You might want to take some time to find out why the OP has made a connection between the cities listed and their possible 'failure' and you'll see why my post was completely in order.

Stockton filed for bankruptcy over a year before Detroit, and is farther along in the process...

Stockton is significant because it has a population of 300,000 people, and when it filed for bankruptcy in 2012 it was the largest U.S. city in history to do so. Detroit could look to Stockton to see how it has been handling a similar problem. I'm not crying over anything, I'm just pointing out that saying "Stockton is next" makes no sense, and is rather ignorant. After Stockton the question was "who is next" and the answer is now Detroit--not the other way around.

I don't understand your temper tantrum. Is it personal?

Pointing out the flaw in your poll is not a temper tantrum. It is simply not correct to say Stockton will be next when it was before Detroit.
