Canadian Citizenship Test

Did You Pass, eh?

  • Total voters
    7
60%

To be honest that's mostly just educated guesses and process of elimination. Does 60% qualify as a passing grade?

No it does not 75% is the passing grade.

You got the easy questions didn't you?

I took a 5 question NS version of the test :)

I used Google translate for my reply (which I think the maintenant is not quite positioned right grammatically) but I actually can read French okay enough after 4 years in HS and 16 credit hours at University and I also have a little bit of Latin to fall back on. I just cannot speak it or write it well anymore.

90% on the BC 20-question version. Guessed there were only 56 Victoria's Cross's and that most Canucks worked in natural resources.
I guessed right on more than two, though, so I'd probably score less and less, the more questions there were.
I was a little disappointed there were no questions on a citizenship test about hockey rules. Don't they have to know what offsides is?

There is one of what is our national winter sport. Why did you think most worked in natural resources, all developed economies have larger service economy.

BC born and raised. My work, and that of most people around me, has always been tied to resource development.

I got a 70% mostly guessing. Even got the Manitoba specific ones right somehow.

Since I saw a thread about the American citizenship test and Canada Day was three days ago I thought I would try and see what you Americans know about Canada.
Go here and choose a province then pick 20 questions.
I really want to see what Americans can get since there is a lot of Canadian history in it.

I also want to see you answers to this question:
136. Who is the leader of the Federal Official Opposition Party and what party?
a. Thomas Mulcair
b. Stéphane Dion
c. Bob Rae
d. Adrian Dix

104. In the 1960s, Quebec experienced an era of rapid change. What is this called?
a. The West Movement.
b. The Revolution.
c. The Quiet Revolution.
d. La Francophonie.

For fun:
60. What is Canada’s system of government called?
a. Dictatorship.
b. Parliamentary government.
c. Military Rule.
d. Communism.

Answers:
Thomas Mulcair (NDP) and The Quiet Revolution

I got a 60% for Ontario (the closest province to where I live), which is a lot higher than I thought I would get, since I did a lot of guessing, but would still probably fail.

I got 95% but then i'm Canadian :) Some of the questions were worded very strangely and really made me have to think about what they were looking for though.

Well 60% is a fail.

May be tied to but is still service sector. natural resources would be people like miners or oil drillers. All other jobs usually fall into the service industry and those jobs created because of those natural resources are usually service aswell, someone has to do the bookkeeping, run stores, administration, etc. and there are usually far more of those than there are actual miners. Then there is the fact that the rest of the country outside of mining towns is pure service industry.

Hmmm, the answers I got

1. Santa Claus
2. An invasion of Draft Dodgers
3. A tea party

So, did I get any right???? ;)

I put down "nobody gives a sh*t" on all of them. I got 100%.

I know jack about Canadian history. I stopped after question 7 or so where I didn't know any of them for sure. It probably would have been a good idea to do something novel like read the Canadian constitution.
