If people can shoot off their mouths, they can shoot off some bottle rockets.

Someone said it - where was it? It was a good point: "You can't babysit the world."

But you can try to keep explosives out of the hands of amateurs and children

What are "illegal fireworks?" Do they only allow party poppers where you're at?

Essentially bottle rockets and the kind of things you see at professional fireworks shows. They were everywhere last night.

Risk is an unavoidable component of freedom.

No outlawing fireworks. Next thing they'll be taking the pointy scissors away from us...
....assault-scissors.....

My kid's don't handle the fireworks around here - nor is it legal for them to purchase them.

It would be a safer world if that was true everywhere for everyone.

God damn boring one, if you ask me. Last night I enjoyed a neighborhood's firework show. Everyone spent a lot of money for community entertainment, set them off in their yards. The kids did it, parents did it, everyone did it. They all clean up after themselves, and they do 360 degrees of fireworks every single year. It rivaled the neighboring city's symphony and firework show at the capital building, but I would say the only thing that neighborhood was missing was the symphony and it would beat the city show easily.

Yes, we should ban fireworks.
And cars, motorcycles, football, baseball, swimming, swimming pools, knives, rocks, ball bats, spikes, hammers, gasoline, lighters, forks, axes, mowers, tractors, air planes, helicopters, mountain climbing, diving etc etc etc and on and on and on.
We should stayed cowered in our homes, never leaving and let the government provide everything we need.

Sounds like a good way to start a lot of fires and blow some fingers off.

Just to be clear here, if you want to shave with a chainsaw, get after it.

Or have a good time and rarely see an accident. Perhaps you don't believe there can be safe home firework launches?

When explosives are involved there will always be a chance of injury, death and destruction

Which does not happen all that often. Proportional response, please?

I have said all that I am going to say on this subject.

A fool and his fingers are soon parted.

I voted "No, but with adult supervision," only because there was no "other" option. I don't think fireworks should be outlawed, but think that some of the bigger, more dangerous ones, should only be purchased by adults 18 or older.

Actions and consequences. Stupid people ought to get what's coming to them.

Totally agree. And then all you have to worry about is drunken fools being careless. These are the same folks who burn their trash in defiance of county burn bans. :doh

It should be legal to put an M-80 in a paper sack that's filled with cow feces and throw it in someone's car.

My experience is that most of them usually get what they asked for, one way or another.

Just a sad fact of life.
