Perhaps not Jesse Ventura but someone not attached to either party that is not owned by big business.
I don't think Howard Strern would be a good choice as VP.

Ventura Dangles Idea of 2016 Presidential Bid - ABC News

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura is back from his part-time home in Mexico and eagerly spreading the idea he could run for the U.S. presidency in 2016.

Yes, but not for him.

Ah, good ole' Jesse. Thanks for the fireworks, ya scary old maniac, you.

I don't think I'd vote for him, but third party? With enthusiasm.

Only if Hulk is at the top of the ticket.

Oh, wait, make that the Rock, since we are in the black worship period of the great american decline.

Third party influence is fine and dandy, but 9/11 truthers can get ****ed.

Yes, but not for him.

What he said.

I'd vote for someone out of the mainstream. I have, in fact, when neither of the two "major party" candidates were acceptable.

But, like someone who is mainstream, the candidate I vote for has to at least appear to be sane, well informed, and honest.

Ventura is a tinfoil hat wearing nutcase. Straight-up 9/11 truther. He will never be president.

Hell NO! Why is this even a serious question/ first question about the 2016 race? There are much more qualified candidates on both sides of the aisle before even taking this guy seriously. Never for this fraud or any of the "third Party" options currently out there. You guys really need to do more research on these people. They are called fringe for a reason... The only way, I'd go off ticket, is if Jon Huntsman decided to run independent because he hasn't been to kind to the Republican Party as of late.

America will never vote for someone "competent" as a leader of a third party. Just the few comments here and the premise of the OP tells you that celebrity and the unusual is what titilates the average American's interest. Aren't you tired by now of idiotic incompetence in the Oval Office? Get real - you're country has big problems to solve.

What's next, Kim and Kanye on the Hollywood ticket?

Is that the long lost brother of Ace Ventura, pet detective? Totally voting for him.

It would make change from the subverted special interest politics that goes on at the moment.
He even recognises that Democrats and Republicans are near enough the same animal when it gets to the top.

He'd never get to the top anyway and if he did you can bet he would end up like JFK.

A useful protest vote

Not going to happen.

Jesse Ventura (Or someone like him.) might have got elected governor, but he'll never occupy the White House.

No way would I vote for Jesse Ventura. He is a conspiracy theorist and a little nuts, not to mention not NEARLY intelligent enough IMO. I don't think he is presidential material at ALL.

Would like to see a valid candidate run that wasn't an R or a D though. The two-party system is a reason why we can't ever get anything productive accomplished.

Evening Chris....do you have anyone in mind that you'd like to see run? Do you like Rand Paul, kind of a Libertarian Republican?

Actors and singers and athletes, you're right- celebrity is it's own reference for qualification. Get ready for a VP candidate named Kardashian.
On a more serious note in the same tune, I wonder which party Oprah Winfrey will announce with?

Don't be surprised if she and Obama start up a new party - she has the cash and he has the ego.

Hi JC! I'm not sure who I'd like to see run. I really can't think of one politician that I really like. As far as RP, I don't really know a lot about him. I know more about his father, and I think some of his ideas are a little bit whacked. I'm hoping someone new who will blow my mind will come forward!

Lol! As if!

Something to be said for the multi-party parliamentary system but it can be frustrating when a minority government can't get anything accomplished. You want strong, positive action, elect a dictator for a set term.

A dictator?

Yeah, don't hold your breath:mrgreen:

Yeah, don't hold your breath:mrgreen:

It seems like every time I start to like a candidate, they say or do something stupid. We can always HOPE that we'll have better choices of candidates . . . someday maybe.

Yeah. A dictatorship is definitely the most efficient form of government. If efficiency is a major concern. 10 years, say we elect a dictator for 10 years with the unspoken understanding that there's choices besides the ballot box for getting rid of dictators.
I dunno, might be worth trying out.

That analysis is short-sighted. While it may be true that decisions come more quickly under a dictators, we must evaluate the effectiveness and any unintended results. When taking into account many perspectives through a democratic system, decisions may come more slowly but they are almost invariably better decisions resulting in far greater efficiency over even a rather brief period of time.

I know what you mean, I thought last elections Republican candidates were pretty bad, and I had high hopes after the 2010 Midterms. It's a brutal business though, and unfortunately I think the most ambitious cross the finish line, not necessarily the best suited.

I don't know a whole lot about Rand Paul, but would like to see our country go into more of a Libertarian direction.
