Gun Control

Would you be okay with the two proposals?

Straw buys are already illegal, but sharing the same punishment is not. This I think would cut down on lots of straw buys if you knew that your friend was shady.
Only if we could put all the government officials involved with fast and Furious in jail.

Oh, I thought you just meant they'd get the same penalty as the person they bought for would get for possessing the gun illegally. If you're talking about giving them the same punishment the other person got for a crime they committed with the gun, I'm vehemently against that, unless it can be proven that the person who bought them the gun knew they were going to commit the crime.
Yep, I agree and that's why I said NO to both proposals. Just the conjecture of such an action can place an innocent person in legal and financial harm, by some busy body peanut counter in law enforcement.

People should be punished for intentional acts against others. We need to dramatically reduce authoritarianism, and return to reasonable regulations. All the "what if" type regulations need to be disassembled out of law.

That is a whole new level of sore loser. But is that really comparable to today? While both guns and explosives are way more powerful, the accessibility of the latter has gone down compared to the first.

Has it?

But how many serial killers were caught early on into the careers? Think we're missing that.

Don't know, but there are still plenty that get away with an awful lot of killing before they're caught.

Do you realize just how hard it is to get that much fertilizer?

You could still kill a lot of people with a lot less. Look how much damage the guys in Boston did with an amount that fit into a pressure cooker.

And you could still probably get that much if you bought it slowly over time. But who'd do that. It's not like any of these attacks have been preplanned or anything.

Its not that hard but depends where you live , In NJ there are large farmer supplies stores where you can get 20 pounds of fertilizer without someone looking at you funny

knowing straw purchasers (given that the law exists-I don't support the law as constitutional but since it does exist) should be prosecuted severely

idealy this should be a state issue
