... had a relationship with an unrepentant terrorist?

Obvious bait thread is obvious

Was it a sexy terrorist?

Yes, I agree.

But would you??

What are the ties in question? Did this candidate work with him while terrorist plots were being hatched, or did they shake hands 30 years later?

Nope.

And once again, zimmer get pwned.

Sometime in the second half of 1995, Ayers and Dohrn hosted a coffee for Obama in their 4th Ward Kenwood townhouse (one mile northwest of the Obamas' 5th Ward Hyde Park condominium)[21] at which Palmer introduced Obama as her choice to succeed her as state Senator to about a dozen guests,[4][6] including prominent Chicago physician Quentin Young, national coordinator of Physicians for a National Health Program, which advocates universal, comprehensive single-payer national health insurance

On November 20, 1997, University of Chicago Associate Dean of Students Michelle Obama's University Community Service Center's monthly discussion series held a six-person panel discussion (that included Ayers and Barack Obama) on the juvenile justice system from 6:00–8:00 pm, free and open to the public in the C-Shop in the Reynolds Club student center at 5706 S. University Avenue

In November 1993, Obama became one of the five founding directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago when it split off from the Lincoln, Nebraska-incorporated Woods Charitable Fund, and served as a director for nine years until December 2002.[26] Ayers served as a director of the Woods Fund of Chicago for nine years from December 1999 until December 2008, overlapping with Obama for three years from December 1999 until December 2002

On March 2, 2001, Ayers made a $200 contribution to Obama's third campaign for the Illinois Senate

On April 20, 2002, the University of Illinois at Chicago spring semester Liberal Arts and Sciences course "LAS 400: The University and the Public Sphere; Public Intellectuals and Their Social Influence" concluded with a conference "Intellectuals: Who Needs Them?" that included a six-person panel discussion (that included Ayers and Obama) on "Intellectuals in Times of Crisis: Experiences and applications of intellectual work in urgent situations" from 2:15–3:45 pm, free and open to the public in the UIC Chicago Illini Union student center at 828 S. Wolcott Avenue.

More than a handshake. Less than a kiss. ;)

Your answer?

3 of those things, I don't find significant at all. They were on the board of a charitable fund, big deal. They were both on 2 discussion panels, and I'd hardly say that anybody who attended those events should be disqaulified from public office.

The campaign contribution is a little more troubling, but put it in perspective - $200 10 years ago? Hardly a big supporter.

So as I said, it depends. Even adding all of this together, Ayers' terrorist activity was well in his past by the time Obama came along.

Essentially what I'm saying is that Ayers and Obama were acquaintances. Acquaintanceship is not a significant relationship.

No. I will never vote for Reagan (Taliban), Bush (Hussein) or Obama (Ayers) again. Look how bad these 3 turned out.

I was still in the Army when Reagan said this. It made sense to me then especially during the cold war and anything that might even prick the USSR with a needle seemed like a good thing. After all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, at least so I thought at the time.

Is it a terrorist we like (i.e. like Al Qaeda when we trained them to fight the Russians) or terrorists we don't like (i.e. Al Qaeda when they turned on us)?

I just wanna make sure everyone see what was done here. You see, what he's done is go along with zimmer's bait and declassified (because it's a might hard code to crack) it to be Obama. I figured I'd return the favor with his post! What a witty poster you are, joko.

Obama/Ayers is a useful reference if you would like to use it.

Depends on the relationship.

Was the unrepentant terrorist an older sibling? A parent? A child?

Were the terrorist sympathies evident before? during? after? the relationship?

In other words, is the relationship with a known unrepentant terrorist a blood relationship, a voluntary one, and/or one known prior to the terrorist's actions?
