Wow....you call THAT a temper tantrum? LOL. Actually, I think most Americans would disagree. The American people are clearly with the President on this one. So keep up your hysterics, it only makes the gun nuts and the NRA look all that more stupid to the vast majority of Americans.
Looks like Obama is expressing his opinion on how congress handled this just like any of us do.
You deminish your stance by the use of gun nut, and saying folks who disagree with you are stupid.
Obama's a clown.
He's just learning from TurtleDude. Call everybody stupid.
When you can't actually say anything substantive, fall back on tried and true RW crap.
This is no different than "Bush is stupid."
Talk about a sore loser! Watch this video and decide for yourself does this guy look like a sober, mature president, a leader we can count on or does he look like a spoiled little boy you see in the grocery store throwing a fit because mommy refused to buy him something he really really wanted. This is our president?

Personally I think the president just made sure that would would be no more gun control legislation this year. It did sound like he, President Obama has given up.

I don't lie about it.
he did. 90% of Americans did not support that bill. it was a flat out lie.
Hi, I'm in Australia and i'm curious as to what would be a more accurate figure?
That is what some of you people call a 'temper tantrum'?
..but on this one, I agree with him.
Do you really think ubc will stop a bad person from obtaining a firearm? I will help you. Yes if an insane person or someone else who is in a database the checks use, they would be stopped from buying from a arms dealer. It may even help if private indivuals also checked the database before selling a weapon. It will not stop purchases on the black market or someone obtaining weapons through robbery. It will not stop those who are in good standing who snapp and are yet in the database from purchasing a weapon.
All the law does is put another step in for good people to have to go through.
We have laws against robbing a bank, we have laws against assault. Guess what, the laws are not stopping those who wish to rob or beat up someone.

That's ridiculous.
I have said many times that I think Obama is a terrible POTUS.

And other then all the hugging at the end (which may have been a bit much) - I don't see anything remotely un-Presidential in that press conference.
Sounds to me more like rabid gun lovers (as opposed to reasonable gun owners) just have a massive hate on for any POTUS that is not pro-NRA (a group whose leadership I am starting to think is more about representing gun/ammunition manufacturers then anything else).

considering how ignorant most Americans are the support for any particular bill would likely be about the same as the support for the particular party most interested in the bill.
So I would guess support is somewhere around 53%
Thankyou. The 90% does seem very high and it's difficult to believe that if that was correct, your representatives could just ignore that. Surely someone could come up with more accurate figures though. Even though you have a different culture and different laws there than we have here in Australia and Australians have never had a constitutional right to own firearms, the media here has been airing President Obamas response to the Senates rejection. There's been quite a bit of discussion surrounding the 90% figure that's being thrown around.
My understanding from reading some of the threads here from those way more knowledgeable than me on the issue, is that they are not so much opposed to expanding background checks to some degree, but they are worried it could mean one more step toward registration, which they vehemently oppose.
There is no tantrum. That was disgust regarding the politicians who caved to a group that sells weapons to terrorists and refused to respect the majority of Americans logical progress and he was angry as he knows we need action.
The NRA lies and that legislation was progress.
Bravo to our President Obama for speaking to us like adults and calling out the politicians who I hope get voted out of office.
terrorists? oh SPARE us the bloodclot drama and hysterics. Your irrational hatred of the NRA (a surrogate for white christian conservative males I suspect) is hilarious
