Do I think they should? Yes. Do I think they should be forced to? No, as long as they don't receive federal money.

I don't see how Gay boys cannot be trustworthy, loyal, helpful courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. That's what being a BSA Scout was to me.

I like females, but that doesn't mean I want to rape little girls. The same applies to homosexuals.

They are a private organization and as such can make their own rules on entry. Personally, I don't care what they do.

No matter if they receive money or not they are still privately owned and operated.

If they receive federal money, they are subject to whatever federal discrimination laws that are deemed as such to receive that money. They open themselves up to eventually being forced to allow gays if they continue to receive federal money or they can choose to operate TRULY privately on not accept the federal money and continue to not allow gays. The choice is theirs, but in most businesses they want the federal cheese.

Sorry but there is one you missed and I paraphrase "Morally straight."

Yes. Discrimination is inconsistent with the lessons on quality of character that the Boy Scouts aims to teach its members. It probably needs to knock off all of the overtly religious elements, too. The Boy Scouts has a policy of discrimination against non-monotheists as well. With regard to both issues, it is impossible to teach good moral values and discrimination. One precludes the other.

For example. Moral straightness and discrimination based on sexuality or religion are completely incompatible.

A lot of men do in both instances.

Straight pedophiles rape little girls and gay pedophiles rape little boys.

At the moment there is no discrimination laws that cover them. Regardless of that however my point holds true. Private property is private and money received has no effect on the rights of that property. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

Navy, I have a question. If the vote is two to one or better in favor of allowing openly gay scouts and leaders into the Boy Scouts? Would you consider posting up: "Well, I could be wrong." ??

Like it has been said already the BSA are a private organization and they should be allowed to say who can join.

Maggie what is posting up mean?

Morally straight is part of the Scout Oath, not the Scout Law. I recited the Scout Law.

I see that some people still believe that homosexuality is the same as pedophilia. It is not!

This is also how I feel ^.

My father and I just had a related discussion last night. It seems to us that a rather large segment of our society encompassing all spectrums want to force people with opposing thoughts to conform to their views. It seems a minority such as myself may disagree with other peoples views and actions but believe that is their right to believe or act the way that they do. Who am I to try and force anyone to conform to my beliefs assuming no one is being harmed? We came to the obvious conclusion that the world would be a much better place if everyone would just stop screwing with other people and allow them to live their lives as they see fit. Instead people are all the time trying to dictate how others should live when it is no business of theirs.

They should do what they want, it's their organization, their rules.

No attack, Navy. Just legitimately curious. You've started a number of threads and polls on this very question. I imagine the responses will be largely the same. What is your extreme fascination with this issue?

I do not see why they would not allow openly gay scouts or scoutmasters. There is no logical reason not to allow them.

Do I think they should? Yes. Do I think they should be forced to? No, as long as they don't receive federal money.

Yet they do, they get preferential treatment and cheap accommodations on public land that other groups do not receive.
