Has anyone seen these stupid family stickers on the back window of people's cars? How dumb can you be? You may as well invite some perv to try and get your child in the car with them. You're giving them your kids friggin name, your name, your pets name in some cases, and the kind of car you drive!! A guy that knows all of that has a major advantage if he's trying to abduct your child. If you have these stickers, do me a favor, drop the "It'll never happen to me" attitude and protect your family. You guys can call me paranoid if you want, but why give anyone anymore ability to harm your family than they already have. Am I off base here?

It's always kinda bothered me, the quantity of information some people give away with their window/bumper stickers. Unscrupulous people could abuse this info in some cases.

Nothing on my truck but one American flag sticker. That's it. Not even an NRA sticker... don't want anyone thinking there might be a gun in the cab they could steal.

They are in no comparison to the guys that drive those trucks with these:

Ha! Notice that "Daddy" and "Mommy" are going by pseudonyms while hanging the kids out to dry!

Although I get the point I don't see it as a likely danger but your point is certainly worth consideration.

I shy away from that stuff because the last thing I want is some rookie cop getting all froggy if he has to pull me over.

I've never seen them. But I agree with you; and you're not being paranoid.

i'm not a fan, because they are kind of tacky. i'll admit, though, that i am anti-bumper sticker. as for whether these stickers will lead to child abduction, i tend to doubt it.

I have the Bone Family on mine - they're skeletons - but no names.

So sue me . . . it's a window . . . and I put some stickers on it.
:scared:OH MY ****ING GOD THE GODDAMN WORLD IS GOING TO END:scared:
I use to have a huge kickass display of skull stickers all over - but that was the old truck. The new truck isn't broken in yet. It's just the family for now (2 dogs, 1 cat, 4 kids (2 teens boys, 1 young boy and 1 young girl), 2 adults)
. . . they're like these: Right down to the mohawks, it's pretty accurate :D

You can't fix stupid. After all, a young child may not associate "stranger" with a person that knows their name. I get a kick out of those that plaster their vehicles with bar stickers too, inviting those "ramdom" stops for DUI/DWI checks. Many times clues abound as to what might be left inside a parked vehicle as well; gun club, car stereo, hot rod accessory and musical instrument clues abound.

I see them and always think "Definitely Mom's Car" LOL. I have never seen anybody put their kids' names--that is really stupid since kids may think a stranger is safe if they know their name--but I do see the stickers daily. A lot of them seem to be with the kids' interests like soccer or dance or whatever.

Yeah, having the names on there is not wise.

This is just an observation, but the vast majority of vehicles that have those are minivans and SUVs that are driven by average soccer moms that are constantly on a cellphone when they drive. Due to always being on a phone the tend to drive horribly. I would imagine that if they cared about their stick family they would drive safer.

There are children everywhere anyway. It's not like a perv. has a hard time finding where there ar some children.

Such stickers are common around here. They show pride in family.

How is that more dangerous than a sticker that says "My child is an honor student at xxxxxxx Elementary school?" I would think what would most be dangerous would be leaving a tricycle and other little children's toys in the yard. Because you are telling where this is a child sometimes out - maybe alone for a while - playing.

I am extremely anti-bumper sticker. I wouldn't put a bumper sticker on my car if you paid me. I think they look tacky. I get so frustrated when I see someone driving a $70,000 Lexus, and they have the back plastered with bumper stickers.

To answer the OP, though - I think it's not a safe thing to do. Especially for little kids. Honestly, though, I've never seen the stickers with the kids' names below them. I see them stick figure families all the time, but never with the names on them.

The only bumper sticker I ever saw that I liked was actually a huge window sticker that covered the entire back window of an SUV - it said CDC Zombie Eradication Team. I thought it was cool. Not cool enough to put on my car, but cool all the same.

I don't know about dangerous, but every time I see them, I think control freak mother who lives vicariously through her children. Making her daughter(s) go to beauty pageants and crap like that.

I see it as no more dangerous than putting your childs picture on facebook or some other internet site with their names posted saying something like "aww isn't timmy cute!"

Yeah i agree Aunty. Family stickers are not that high on my list of things to be outraged about today. I've seen them here in Australia too, although i can't say i've ever seen any with the childrens name on them though. That definitely isn't the norm here. Some of the character ones are pretty funny. I like the Star Wars ones.

I'm a sticker nut - I use to have my fav-band emblems:

Type O Negative, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails - etc etc etc. Then I went on a detour into Calvin and Hobbs. And after that it was a visit to a bunch of Military / USA things. Then skulls, etc etc.

I figured why not? I hang pictures in my house to enjoy the view - thusly - I decorate the windows of my vehicles to again enjoy thew view :D It's a simple thing and unlike tattoos - it is just temporary.

That - and my kids lick their fingers all the time to do their own art from the inside . . which I never hear anyone complain about, you know. LOL You can ALWAYS tell who has kids just by looking at the state of the vehicle in general - my kids think it's totally awesome fun to hold their hands on the windows when they get frosty so they can melt a hand print through the ice.

Heavens you two - stereotype much :D

Beauty pageants? Wow - yeah . . . my daughter's in Karate, not the beauty thing. That's ok - I'll forgive you. And none of my kids play soccer and I haven't had so much as had speeding ticket in almost 10 years.

 You guys crack me up.

That's just how it rubs off after having dealt with far too many crazed soccer moms.

That hardly takes up any room at all. Now this is a danger:

LOL - it's ok . . . I like my mini-mini van (Mazda5) because it can't haul more than 6 and it handles like a sedan. LOL I didn't want to be confused with a soccer mom!

I have this overwhelming desire to go and buy another stash of skulls.

What about Facebook or Twitter? Do I need to know when everyone is going to take a dump? Absolutely not

It's just my observations  This one woman with 3 kids in her car with the stickers (plus a dog, cat, and a fish) almost ran me off the road because she was swerving on the phone on the interstate. I used to drive a minivan before I had a car and there isn't anything wrong with that, but Lord knows it took almost all my strength to not flip her the finger. The only reason I didn't was because she had kids in her car, so I just honked to get her to correct herself and she instead gave me the finger... So much for trying to be modest
