I'm on Senator Coburn's side.

Well, considering he has vowed to not seek a 3rd term in the Senate which would be in 2016, Where will you go without Dr.No? :2razz:

Thanks for the post though, through it I discovered his book, 'Breach of Trust' which I'll be downloading to my Kindle soon.

Neither choice.

Now that the paleocons and moderates are extinct, I will have a hard time voting republican.

Oh noes... 2 people within a party disagreed. CIVIL WAR!

So does that mean that the democrat party is engaged in a mutually assured destruction war? Because the democrat party has taken quite a few punches at Obama lately...

I respect McCain for his serving his country as a Senator and as POW Vietnam Veteran but I think it's time for him to retire from public life and have a fun retirement.

Is it possible to side with the Libertarians and not the TEA Party?

Yeah, there is a sect of anarcho-potheads that want to dissolve the federal govt and go back to an agrarian life growing weed.

And the other wants to enforce a social right wing theocracy.

Rand Paul is an idiot....but then again, so is McCain. So its pretty impossible to pick a side in this debate.

It doesn't change the fact that they are both idiots. The reality is...if there is a civil war in the GOP it is between the wacko right-wing tea party types and moderates like Chris Christie who are trying to regain control of their party. I would definitely side with the Chris Christie types and would even consider voting for a Republican again in the future if they can bring their party back from the extreme.

No..you wouldn't.

No..you wouldn't.

I have voted several times for Republicans, so you are dead wrong. I would never vote nationally for a Republican in todays wacko Republican party (one in which Ronald Reagan wouldn't even be able to be nominated). I voted twice for a moderate Republican mayor in Los Angeles. I have also voted Republican in other California races. However, I have only cast 1 vote for a Republican for President.

You're not a real libertarian are you? I've never met one that believe in any theocracy. I don't even know a conservative that wants that, leftwing meme.

Rick Santorum....he was as close to it as I've seen.

Regardless, the tea party was hijacked by the social right wing which tries dictate morality through Christianity. I'm all for lower taxes, civil liberties, and the like....I'm not in favor of dictating morality via religion.

I firmly believe the social right wing needs to be cut off from the Republican party for it to advance and win elections.

Disagreement is healthy. How one chooses to resolve it may not be. So what's the big deal? They aren't duelling near the reflecting pool yet.

That begs the question: what is an acceptable means of dictating morality to you? Just thought I'd ask.

I'm a liberal. All I can say is I am enjoying watching the right wing come apart at the seams.
What he said.

I will see that Rand Paul has a right to do what he did and he earned respect from me. (Did I just say that?)

Simple...Don't infringe on the liberties of others.

That would include murder, theft, rape, etc...

I respect McCain a lot. On this issue, he is wrong. Which is fine. I often disagree with people I respect alot.

Politics is a "What have you done for me lately?" vocation. McCain has done nothing of note except be a twit for quite some time. Respect is earned. In order to keep that respect one must continuealy earn it. McCain has not earned the respect he has for a very long time now. The man has a long track record now of spitting on the Constitution. I would say that he has earned derision if he has earned anything.

Okay. I can go along with that form of dictation. I generally refer to that as responsible governance within the proscribed limits of our founding, or RGWTPLOOF.

I feel that you insulted me with the term RINO. I am definitely not a Republican in Name Only and I believe that the libertarians and Tea partiers are exactly that.

What is the difference between Tea Party and Neocon?

I think it's exciting because many on the right have voted for programs from the left now, understanding the constituents are not happy with their party. After ALL the money spent in this past election, many right wingers lost elections.

Neither. If they become more like Teddy Roosevelt's Republicans, then maybe I could support them.

Teddy Roosevelt's style of progressives, not today's. I'd doubt he would have supported gun control.

There is still plenty of conservative progressives out there and I'm sure plenty of conservatives would support them too.
