Many things are changing in the United States, and many things have remained the same (war, for example). Gun policies are changing, health care is changing drastically, economy is in the dumps, etc etc. I am not deeming any of these issues negative or positive because to each, his own. I am simply curious to see how many Americans are either satisfied and want to continue living here, or are unsettled and wish to leave.

Vote and discuss.

I wouldn't mind living Canada or Europe awhile, but it has less to do with those things and more that they are interesting places to me. I could see myself living in Toronto for the rest of my life if necessary and be perfectly happy, but not so much other places

Since I am not a doctor or some other sought after skill, I would not be allowed to move to any of the places I would likely want to. Any place that might be better to live in than the US does not let just anyone in.

Spent enough time in Switzerland for a job once to say, yeah, I would move there if I could. Don't know anywhere else that I know I would want to live.

I would rather continue living here, but they aren't making it an easy choice.

Exactly, this is where I stand. I've just got this nameless dread about the future of this country... something doesn't feel right. I would want to get out, if I chose to do so, while I still could.

We can carpool to Canada. It is like the US but more like Uncle Sam on weed........

It's not easy to give up all you know, family, friends, a way of life. I've contemplated it, but I'm not sure I'm willing to give it all up. Canada could be a likely choice, but damn, the winters are cold up there.....

I'm pretty sure I'd like Germany. If for nothing more than the Nurburgring. Frankly, though...globalism isn't just about businesses. You think anything being done in this country, is not soon to follow in other countries?

Remember communism, and how we "cured" it?

It's OUR way, or the HIGHWAY. Just ask Sadam.

And I know a couple people up there for pit stops, lol. I guess I'd need to bring my thermals.

Ya, it is tough. I just don't want to be here if **** really hits the fan... I've read a lot about people proposing to abolish the current government, because it has become too powerful, as the constitution says to do. People are talking about "Civil War II" and I really don't want my family here if it comes to that.

I voted no! I wouldn't mind Canada as far as it goes but as one poster mentioned,

the cold would be a bear. The ice hockey would be great tho!!

We're actually looking at Belize, Ecuador, and Mexico for our retirement...

I've lived in Toronto, Canada all my many years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I'm not the most worldly traveller, but whenever I do I can't wait to get home. There are lots of beautiful places to live and lots of lovely people all over the world, so there's lots to choose from - but if you can be happy, healthy and fulfilled where you are, you've got it made.

My first thought would be the more sparsely populated portions of Canada, second would be to head on up to Alaska. No matter how bad things get here, no matter how far we drift from the America I called home my entire life, I won't leave where I'm at until I can get my family to move with me.

I was thinking: Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand. You know why? Because you never hear about them.

This is a huge obstacle for me as well. I would hate living far away from my family.

And they are all beautiful (at least from the vids I've seen).

Yeah, not so much for the grown ones, I'm used to them doing the diaspora. It's the grandchildren I can't live without.

I've lived in quite a few countries and they all had aspects that were better and worse than the US.

I've also listened to the doom and gloom projections we've had under every administration. Excessive spending √ Useless wars √ Loss of freedoms √ SS bankruptcy √. Still, for most of us (except those unemployed or underemployed that are really trying hard but just can't make it) America is a pretty much OK place to be.

Even now, I could live anyplace in the world I wanted to. I like Jamaica a lot. Amsterdam is pretty cool (but also pretty cold). But I can't move all my friends and family and cats in any practical sense.

America is still a land of opportunity. Still a comfortable place to live. Moving away because you dislike politicians just isn't really enough reason.

IMHO of course.

I understand. I'm still trying to build a family, so I get frightened thinking I'll do it here, then regret it.

I surely understand and it was why I moved from California to Oregon to start my family way back when. Now, I worry for them. Not for myself, what the hell, I'm old, have lived an insanely good life and it can end whenever it ends. But my grandchildren, they haven't even cut their teeth on this adventure yet.

there isn't anywhere else I'd rather live at this point. I can see scenarios in which I'd consider emigration, but these scenarios are not likely.

Stay - and maybe change things that I don't agree with.

I never understood some people and why they choose to relocate: America's changing - so pack up and go to another country that's completely different? A little change is bad but extreme permanent change is ok.

It's illogical, actually - so is the belief that other countries don't also change and will stay the same as they are if you do move there.

What's such a big deal that can't be handled by moving elsewhere - if not being more active politically? No two states are the same. That's the purpose of our union with our smaller governments.

Further - if people just pack up and move then what good is that going to do? They're just removing their selves from the equation. . . and hoping that will change something? They'll get more change than they know what to do with, that's for sure.

It isn't easy giving up your family and friends, the way of life that doesn't mean politics but the local places and traditions. There are folks who can't live in another region of this country much less a nation that doesn't speak 'American'.

But millions of people do just that- coming here! give it all up and risk everything in a land where the customs are sooo different and the language not their own.

I have been around the world, lived many places til I settled down here in Oklahoma. Some were true armpits, some pretty nice, but none are where I'd want to settle down in. liked parts of some of the nicer places but not enough to 'flee' this country.

While reading the rest of the thread-

Given what many are complaining about here I don't see where the nation's mentioned are 'better', certainly not on the 2nd A, for profit healthcare, taxes, trial rights.... Fleeing to the 3rd world makes me smile, go to where murder and gangs makes Detroit look like Disneyland and the ex-pat will have less rights and always look like a target for kidnapping or just payback- we tend to forget this country's meddling south of the Rio- they don't. But to each their own.

Now some of we in this nation love to boast of how tough 'we' are, WWI and WWII, the Cold War, policemen odf the world, most powerful military.... yadda yadda yadda...

So it always amazing to me to hear the 'lets run away' crowd lament the way the country is going. Something must be done- but not me or my family.

I'm for staying, things maynot be going 100% the way I'd like but having been around the world I'd just as soon stay here. I live in Oklahoma where droughts and tornadoes come with the scenery, maybe that combined with seeing the world the way few tourists do has me thinking staying here and at least trying to work for what I want doesn't overwhelm me.

Maybe what we need to for the fainter of heart to leave, better 10 stout hearted than 100 ready to bolt at the first round coming back at us... :peace
