Move or replace the insulation problem solved.

The design of the house is such that it would involve a lot of work/$/time and honsetly it isnt -30 that often enough to make it worth while, we just wear sweaters and only go upstairs to sleep (higher up you go colder it gets)

Ha! It's a good day to go out and get yard work done.
When it gets to 100 F 37 C, that's hot.

I'd rather live some place I can wear shorts most of the year, than freeze my butt off half the year.

1/4 of the year only, spring and autumn arent bad at all in fact autumn is my favorite time of the year here

No it is not, the lawn bursts into flames at 30C. I'd love to live somewhere where it didn't snow but still gets rather cold.

And Toronto calls out the army when they get a bit of snow. Sorry but you guys will never live that one down :)

Well, like right now winter isn't over yet, but it's going to get into the 60's today (15C+).
That's how I like it.
Although If I could live in a sub tropic or tropics climate, I'd be happier.

<--- Hates cold, loves heat.

People say that when it's cold, you can put on more clothes.
I don't like wearing a lot of clothes....shorts, t shirt, flip flops and I'm happy.

That's what I wear most of the time anyways.

I have thought about Canada.
IMO, they are more civilized and advanced than us...
But, I am stuck here, too lazy to move....like a turtle....and our nation does have its qualities.

Something like +5 here today not too cold but itll be slushy out especially as ill propbably go for a walk in the forest with the kids (they love this temp as its easy to make snowmen/snowballs) they will however come home soaking wet, but then what's the point in being a kid if you dont roll around in wet snow from time to time?

Bleh, it practically never snows here.
My kids would love a good snow though.
Def one benefit of cold weather.

Then come and vacation in the great white north :)

Well my french is crap and I've heard Quebecians can be rude.
Any truth to the latter?

Quebec city is a tourist city and they know it. You will have no problem in english and I would not call them rude at all but very friendly though not necessarily overly polite.

The USofA is a honey trap!

To think all those ignorant Europeans who were tricked by a slogan... America, Land of Opportunity! The smucks! If they had only stayed in their native lands so their great grand kids wouldn't be trapped in so 'terrible' a nation....

Seriously????

Most who lament the one way door nations have with us also deride those nation's for their taxes, nanny state, lack of any Bill of Rights....

When the slaves were freed there were some who wanted to send them all back to Africa.

It might be time for a send them back to Europe movement.... :2wave:

I'd say travel and see the world...then come back here and be VERY grateful your ancestors chose to leave all they knew behind for this country. :peace

I did travel and see the world.

Not once was I harrasd by the police

I saw free universal Healthcare

I saw cheap affordable housing

I saw jobs with security that pay a living wage......

every one made the USA look like a DUMP.

Oh and your talking 150 years ago with Kings and hereditary titles ruling europe, Kings now are the corps. Above the law and can last forever.

The U.S is going downhill and unless a miracle happens or a messiah comes out of no where, nothing is going to stop it. I'd like to move to Canada some day. Really nice country that's not too far from home, but has a European feel to it.

I've got this feeling too... and I don't like it.

I've said it a few times throughout this thread. Basically all of the shady stuff going on in the government, the economy, the never ending war, some civil rights issues, etc.

For those who would leave, what makes you think the place you want to go wants you there?

Oh, I thought you meant the European feel to Canada.

Yes, I'm working on getting out of here and moving to Canada or France.
