I was born American and I will die American. But to those that want to leave for whatever reason that you think of; dont let the door hit you in the ass, Americans do not need you here.

As soon as possible, we're moving to Mexico!

I will stay in America till the day I die.

OK, then which country is?

America is not even in the top 10 in standards for literacy, mathematics, science, and other academic categories. Our unemployment rate is high, our economy is failing. We still do not have equal civil rights for homosexuals, we have a large prison population and crime rate in many cities, the border is unsecured, our election process is a joke, etc, constitution is outdated and none of us have a say in it's revision, government is too powerful.

The first country 3 countries which come to mind are: Switzerland, Finland, Sweden.

All of these countries excel in educational standards, have solid economies, low crime rates, high satisfaction of citizens, and progressive civil rights. If you would like to know more about these countries, please feel free to google them.

I’ve been in Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Canada, Mexico, Saint Tomas, Virgin Gorda, Germany, Austria, and Hungary long enough to get at least an accurate impression of the place and the people. I’ve participated in a sport I have a wonderful time doing in a few of those places, but it is best done in the US. (The world comes to the US to train.) I have a home on a beautiful ‘private’ river in Michigan with my own boat ramp and dock and a winter home in Arizona. Move from the US to another country? Are you kidding?
In addition, to have what I have here in the US I'd have to be a higher ranking and wealthier person in all of the places I've been to.

I disagree. No other country on the planet has access to our combination of wealth and power, it is what has given us an unprecedented position on the globe. We are the greatest country on the planet. There are more metrics in the world than whether or not Sweden has a higher high school math aptitude rate.

Again, I respect your opinion, but it is purely that, an opinion.

Switzerland, Finland, Sweden are so great but they will not accept you becoming a citizen?

Me too. Risky won't go where palm trees don't grow.

Palm trees may be seen along the south coasts of Ireland and England

BBC NEWS | UK | England | Devon | Fury as town palm trees destroyed
Residents in a south Devon town are angry that several 50-year-old palm trees have been destroyed as part of development works by a local council.

There are four separate species of palm tree in Ireland, one of them is
The Palm Tree Page - Arecaceae
Phoenix canariensis is native to the Canary Islands where it is a national symbol. The sap is used there to make palm syrup. The Canary Island Date Palm is widely used as an ornamental plant in countries with warm and Mediterranean climates, even growing in Ireland and Southern England as it will withstand occasional mild frost. In warm countries Phoenix canariensis may be an invasive plant.

True enough.

I have much less material things than you but would never turn my tail and run from the frying pan to the fire.

So, how was Switzerland, Finland and Sweden realy when you visited for say just a week?

I am under the belief that if I stay here my death will be quite premature. Even more premature than the medical systems in countries I would prefer would probably make it.

Due to limits within the US medical system?

Have you tried weed? I hear it helps with a lot of medical issues.

No, I would rather be part of the solution to our problems. I go to local meetings all the time and talk with folks who are just liberty minded as myself. We discuss ways to spread the idea of a Libertarian government. I am not one of those people who would tuck tail and run away from my home because we have issues.

Fact is that we need change. We need it desperately before we fall fully into this empire we've created out of our republic. I will not stop the fight to retain our lost liberties. I find that we are on the cusp of an important event in history. I know some of you will call me crazy, and that's fine....However, I feel our generation will be remembered for one of two things....

Either we allowed our country to fall into totalitarianism or we restored our republic to its roots.

Weak militaries make them rely on the us for protection. How long would they last if we pulled out of nato?

I have honestly never visited any of those countries. I have friends who live in Switzerland. Other than that, I'm basing my preferences on statistics and satisfaction rates among their populations.

And let me say this; I would like to stay here, but I feel I am powerless and the government is too powerful. There are many issues I have trouble accepting and I feel I cannot change them.

Unless Russia or Germany decided to invade them, they'd be ok. Germany is in a great state right now, Russia...meh, not so sure. But either way I'd take my chances if the U.S. got to a point where it was intolerable to stay and no change could be brought about by the people due to the government being too powerful.

This kind of logic however is deceptive. Why are we not in the top 10? When people say that, or when they find out we are in the 18th or 32nd position it conjures up images of a degrading United States that has dismal scores. The reality is far from that. Let's look at a few of them shall we?

Literacy: Norway comes in tied at the front at approximately 99.9-100%. The United States lags in the 26th spot at... 99%+.

Math and Reading: Findland and South Korea top the charts here, the United States lags in a dismal 25th place... which is the top of the upper quartile alongside Iceland and Austria.

I could go on, the point being that we fall relatively low because the top tiers are so damn high. If you have a literacy rate of 99.5% you will be out of the top 15 hands down. We are doing just fine.

Moreover I actually think our respect and valuation for civil rights far exceeds those countries except perhaps Switzerland. Norway and Sweden both have brutal hate speech laws which severely restrict freedom of speech, something we would not think of countenancing in the US. Moreover the economic health of the US is far better than that of most of the Scandinavian countries, our growth rates are much higher, moreover our real unemployment rate is lower (We do not count people on paid state unemployment/disability as employed), and quite frankly we aren't Norway we do not have less people than Alabama and more petroleum, tin, timber, and rare earths than god.

Also what do we have that most of these countries don't? Immigrants. Millions and millions of them. Sure Sweden and Norway take in their share of asylum seekers, and they have done an abysmal job of integrating them. You want to see racism against minorities? Go to Malmo, go to the outskirts of Oslo. We aren't stagnating, we have new human capital, and we also happily accept the statistical skewing that results from that.

Ok, I see your point. However, besides civil rights issues, there are issues which cannot be fixed by refusing to move to the back of the bus.

Be the change.
