"He's proud, his country likes him - not like him, love him, love him," Rodman said of Kim Jong Un. "Guess what, I love him. The guy's really awesome."

"Rodman's agent, Darren Prince, sent a text message to The Associated Press saying Rodman will be in New York on Sunday "to do some major press interviews and talk about his trip in North Korea as well as discussing what's accurate and inaccurate from the press the past few days."

"Clearly you've got the regime spending money to wine and dine foreign visitors, when they should be feeding their own people," he said."

"He accused the regime of depriving their people of food, shelter, water and maintaining prison gulags."

Isn't the USA the country with the highest proportion on its' citizens in prisons?

Didn't sequestration cuts just lower aid to poverty stricken in the USA?

Kim Jong Il to Kim Jong Un just like Bush to Baby Bush, eh?

Will the fact that Kim is ordinary crash his Demon image in the USA press?

Un is not like Il. All those totalitarian nations are becoming more centric with westernization. Raul for Fidel, Un for Il. Hell, Khatami was incredibly pro-west for where he was.

The world is turning sane - for the most part.

Rodman? Pshhhhh, I'll wait for Iron Mike's analysis.

Do you mean the rest of the World is turning sane? We're imprisoning whistleblowers (Kirikao) who report torturers and don't imprison the torturers. We're imprisoning those that reveal the truth about the Iraq War (Manning). We want to arrest Julian Assange because he revealed the truth about our diplomacy of lies. Where's all that sanity in the USA?

There's nothing wrong with maintaining secrets for the purpose of military might, as every nation has that capability. To think that espionage and subterfuge are always by the book is to be incredibly naive.

Out of curiosity, exactly in what way are you "conservative"? Is that just an ironic posting of your lean? I haven't seen a single post from you that would demonstrate conservatism.

I consider an expectation of "honest dealing" from my government to be a conservative lean. I consider "truth" to be a conservative lean. I consider a desire to not invade other Countries a conservative lean. I consider to limit Military Offense to be a conservative lean.

my view is that Rodman got caught up in the pomp and circumstance, and lacks the intellectual curiosity to go to google maps and check out the prison camps. he also probably didn't get to hang with starving north Koreans.

Kim Jong Un? he's been largely handled and programmed his whole life. we can all claim that we would do differently under the same circumstances, but none of us can prove it. he likes basketball, and that's heartwarming, but he needs to get off of his ass and concentrate on bringing resources to his country instead of Iranian nuclear scientists to spend money on a bomb that will be national suicide if ever used. the DPRK is a tumor, and the world recognizes it as such. if it ever becomes malignant, the global immune system will kick into gear, and we'll all suffer a painful convalescence.

I hope he decides to concentrate on food and basketball rather than war and oppression.

The North Korean people might beg to differ. If, that is, they were allowed to ever differ.

Rodman was in North Korea when he said that. What's he gonna do, say that Kim Jung Un is a horrible man who's killing his people? People have been jailed for much less there. So I don't have a problem with what Rodman said, at least at this point. I do wonder if his trip was a genuine attempt at some sort of diplomacy or information gathering though. If it was, then it would make sense for Rodman to praise Kim Jung Un since he appears to be the one guy the dictator likes a lot.

My impression of Kim hasn't changed much. He seems like almost every other dictator. He's spoiled and contradictory. He preaches one thing to his people and does the exact opposite in his personal life. I will say though that he may have created conflict within his own country by having so much public fun with Rodman. North Korea is supposed to hate the United States and the more public NK's leaders display admiration for Americans, the more they undermine their authority.

Apparently Manning broke the law. He plead guilty. There's no whistle blower exception to passing classified documents. That's probably a good thing, since warfare is by its nature an ugly business.

It would be pretty funny and not at all surprising if Rodman turned around and blasted KJU and NK when he got home.

Yes, the people love Kim Jong Un. Look at those faces. Pure delight.

Let's see now. The only one showing his teeth in the photo is the one educated in the USA. Everybody else showing off fair skin and healthy weights. "Smile for the camera," even if you're sitting in a steaming pile of donkey dung. Only in the USA.

I think you just summed it up beautifully.

This doesn't change anything. Rodman didn't see the real DPRK, because he wasn't allowed to. All this "good press" while the DPRK still tests nuclear weapons, builds more ICBMs, and still keeps his own people locked away in death camps like Haengyong (More commonly known in the States as Camp 22), and still antagonizes South Korea and Japan. **** the DPRK, and **** Kim Jong Un.

Rodman looked like a shish kabob, but hey, he could be Sec State, and we might not miss Kerry.

Let's see now, torture, Guantanamo, kangaroo courts are OK. We only invaded North Korea once so they shouldn't be building weapons to defend from us just because we cover the Southern half of their penninsula like a blanket. We attack people without 'Nukes', like Vietnam, Granada, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Nicaragua(contras), Panama, and the list goes on, but we don't attack countries with nukes. Not so subliminal message, get y'all some nukes, mos' scratchee! It's not Iran that has helped NKorea get its' Nukes working, but our great ally Pakistan and their uber hero A. Q. Khan. That's the same A. Q. Khan that offered Libya help for its' discontinued Nuke program and look what happened to Libya. Is there a message here?

Are people seriously giving Rodman **** for not trashing Kim Jung Un while INSIDE OF North Korea? I'd like to see any of the people giving Rodman **** for his words criticize North Korea while inside of it.

Gee, I was unaware of North Korea's sordid history of imprisoning famous foreigners for public comments.

North Korea has a history of imprisoning people for stupid things, including denigration of the state. If this doesn't bother to the point where you're willing to make laughably ignorant and condescending comments like the one above, then maybe you should go to North Korea and disparage the government publicly and see what happens to you. I'm sure it will be fun, LOL.

I realize that Rodman really could be that stupid, but why the hell go to a country where he would fear for his life if he spoke his mind?

And anyway, Rodman has never demonstrated that he actually has a firewall installed between his brain as his mouth before, why assume it's there now?
