Fear mongering from the white house over cuts to proposed increases in spending is asinine. It won't cut a dime in actual spending from the government or make an impact on the 16 Trillion deficit.

If they are scared to cut in proposed increases than we will never make any progress with our monumental debt. We need to cut so much more than 85 billion. This whole smokescreen from the White House is BS.

If you wanted a raise of $10 but only got a raise of $1 would that make you broke, or just make you mad? ;)

Cutting anyspending is removing money from the economy, so yes, it will damage the economy. Yet is still necessary, as the deficit cannot be maintained.

But it is a neglegible amount this case, $82 billion? I'm not worried.

It won't. What it will affect is some politicians playing games with the country for political gain. As we saw, a bunch of illegal aliens were released from jail because of the sequester. I mean that's just BS.

You always manage to bring "race" into a thread. Who are you going to blame? Name that cabal.

There's little doubt it will have a negative effect on short term growth and military capability. The severity of said effects, however, seems to have been overstated (the former moreso than the latter).

Anything that cuts the Military Offense budget is a wonderful thing.

It'll have a mostly negative impact on the economy, but unless political action is taken to specifically maximize the damage rather than minimize it I believe the impact will be rather light (compared to how it's being portrayed) and short. Some areas, such as the Northern Virginia area due to defense cuts, will be hit harder but overall I don't think it'll have a great impact.

It will effect those in military towns. I have several friends who have lost significant income because of this.

I feel sorry for the pawns affected. Is lobster on the menu for the congressional lunch today, I wonder?

Hey, the congressional cafeteria is a good place to cut.

SOCIALIST! High taxation removes money from the economy NOT reigning in government spending. Excuse me while I pound my head on this desk.

I just got done trying to help some friends of mine budget. They work in Jacksonville NC, so their income just got cut from 40K to 34K in what we figure is their best-case-scenario. Thanks, Congress, for letting the punishment for your incompetence fall on the backs of our low-income veteran families :). Really Classy Move.

The 2.3 % will have a small ripple affect, thrice doubled by the Scare Rhetoric of Those Who Disagree, To Intentionally.. Misinform the uneducated in political games,
meaning only those who believe what they see on TV or read in the MS media.

The freeing of Illegals yesterday, was IMO a power play to frighten people and show what a Big Bad boy the WH , can Be If they so choose, and it seems they choose to be a leader of Only those who agree with them.

And they've already deflected blame for that one. Maybe someone will respond to the fear-mongering by asking why they are making such bad decisions?

One of my friends is taking a 20% cut in pay. Sucks man.

I am confused. Both raising taxes and cutting spending removes money from the economy in the context of balancing a deficit. What is the issue with my post then? We're talking about cuts at the moment, that is why I directly refered to them.

Yup. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're finally cutting. But the stupidity of where and how we are doing it is astonishing. Literally we decided that we weren't going to cut unless we did so in the dumbest method possible.

All government spending is money that was taken out of the economy in the first place. How hard is that to understand? Less government means a more robust economy every time it's tried. People who are willing to work for their living will be better off under sequestration.

Not exactly true. Deficit spending adds net financial assets to the private sector possibly at the expense of the dollar's valuation. The concern lies in where those assets are distributed...

I think devaluing the dollar is also taking money out of the economy. And my savings account.

That's the point. The government is currently discouraging any form of savings...
