I have noticed he has taken a lot of flak recently for agreeing with President Obama or praising when President Obama does something that is positive. I just want to know what your thoughts are about him. Is it so bad that Democrats and Republicans praise each other and defend a certain aspect of another?

Not at all. Christie shouldn't be catching any flak for that, he did nothing wrong, he praised a man at a time when he deserved praise.

Fat ass blowhard doing anything he can to stay in the news, doesn't give a **** about New Jersey less it nets him some headlines.

It's a very good strategy to praise and acknowledge your opponents. It's easier to respect flexibility than it is to respect hyper-partisanship.

I wish I could've vote for multiple options. I like both his politics, and his brash outspokenness. We need a lot more no bull**** politicians in this country.

I dislike his political views, but I applaud him for his willingness to step out of the party's line and call the GOP on whatever bull**** he sees.

I used to think Christie was the worst kind of GOP hack and bully. His speech at the GOP convention was odious. But he stepped up to the plate on Sandy, worked hard, did what was right, bucked his despicable party. I admire his recent conduct in that regard and hope he keeps it up.

I don't see a reason why you can't praise and support a political rival when they're right about something.

Fat, slobbery egomaniac.

When democrats and liberals attacked Christie's weight 'conservatives' rushed to defend the rather girthy Republican.

So I am amazed to see this post...

Christie is a politician, he does what he does to get/stay in office. Be it attacking public unions, or his own party when it attempting to short sheet national disaster funding with 'offsets'...

Whether he's saying and doing the right things for attention or not, I don't really care. I like him because he speaks his mind, and I generally agree with his politics.

Nonetheless, the part about him being fat and an egomaniac are true.

The part about him being slobbery is hyperbole.

So, accusations of hypocrisy notwithstanding, truth is an absolute defense, and my assessment was true.

I like any politician that can cross the isle and make a decision based on what works rather than ideology.

I dislike him becuase he is a FAT SLOB

So in the partisan world the old 'Meatloaf' song is true too... 'Two Out of three Ain't Bad' ;)

Course I don't see how any of your post does anything more than vent a spleen.

Do fat people make poor political leaders?

Egomaniac is soooo subjective I'd suggest your heavy dogmatic approach to everything colors your concept of 'the truth'.

But just between us, doesn't someone who runs for political office have a weeeeee bit more ego than most of us????

Anywho Governor Christie did take a stand for the people of his state. I do believe that is what they pay him to do...

He's a pragmatist and does what makes the most sense.

Hey, the OP asked for our opinions on gov. Christie, and I gave mine. Ain't nothin wrong with that.

He didn't JUST torpedo Romney - after being his keynote speaker - and praised Obama before Obama had done anything - for which then Obama got on a plane and left for good, having gotten more then he could possibly have hoped for.

Since then, Christie has openly condemned specifically Republicans in Congress after they would not vote for federal recovery money due to Democrats piling on all sorts of other legislation on related to the hurricane or recovery efforts.

The end of Christie. I expect him to likely switch parties for the next election.

All the loons on this thread are saying, essentially, they like Christie because he "crosses the aisle." Yet, the Liberals in Congress NEVER cross the aisle and receive no criticism at all from their cattle.

Christie's actions, while earning him a pat on the head and maybe even a special treat from the loons, effectively ended any chance he had of going further with the Republican party.

He will soon find out what others such as Arlen Spector and Charlie Christ have found, the Democrats have no Chieu Hoi program.

Christie will never survive the Republican Primaries in 2016, where as we all know, only the crazy propsper.

I doubt it. Although he might not be able to win a national nomination at this point, his approval ratings in New Jersey are skyhigh among Republicans, Independents, and Democrats, (relatively speaking). He has a 91% approval rating by Republicans. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2011/PPP_Release_NJ_1130.pdf There's really no reason for him to switch parties, and he should win re-election easily.

I clicked on this thread only because I was curious about how many posts it would take before Christie's weight became the focus.

Surely didn't take long.

You realize that agreeing with the other party on some counts doesn't discount Christie as a Republican, right?

I think Christie finally figured out that the GOP could never hope to get a president elected by thumbing their nose at most of the demographic groups needed to win an election. He has broken with the tea party and plans a more moderate campaign in 2016 than any of the losers in 2012. So, he is not stupid. But I still don't trust him any further than I could throw him!

Hey, didn't say there was anything wrong with you commenting, just amused by the comment itself. Superficial personal attack on the Governor, mindless pap. Ya HAVE to know there would be a comment made... look at the front door- Debate is in there.

And there ain't nothin' wrong with that... :)
