How can you say they're quiter when you've already said you're less likely to read them. They're plenty loud to me. Where were you when some proponents of OWS were suggesting violence and armed revolution?

Let me run this by you again: How many are proposing armed revolution?

Number 2.

Banning sale and manufacture is not taking any one's guns.

Whacked out liberal politicians are the only father figures that liberal children have.

Exploitation of children is common by Socialists:

Looking at the Fidel Castrato photo... gave me an idea that could make someone a millionaire. Start producing Obama ears... a little like Mickey Mouse but much, much bigger. So large that you are imbalanced. Of course... the left ear (wing) would be much larger to achieve the right effect of being imbalanced.

Would be the next Halloween hit. Couple it with a dunce hat with propeller and a copy of the Commi Manifesto and you'd be on your way to being an impersonator of our Little Marxist.

Of course... on the pack you'd have to add... for the benefit of Obamatrons... Kool-Aid and Children not included.

I laughed so goddamn hard when I saw this post.

Actually, I shouldn't have gone down that road. I don't agree with you on a lot of things, but I respect your consistency. If you tell me you don't support armed or violent revolution, no matter who proposes or supports it, I'll believe you.

Back on the topic of over the top rhetoric, one anti-gun dude said that pro gun folks were all murderers. You'd agree that's pretty extreme, right?

Banning sale and manufacture is not taking any one's guns.

I sincerely hope you're right.

A position you need to lie in order to defend or believe is not a good position. It's true for some of the anti-gun folks I've mentioned and it's equally true for someone making a false statement like yours is here.

I'd buy an ar15 now if I thought I couldn't later. I presume I will be able to buy one later. If suddenly I cannot, it's pretty much been taken away from me. Do I need to buy an ar15 or two right now? I don't think so, but if it gets close to actually banning them I will. If I must, I'll sell some of my stuff to buy at least one; I can always buy that stuff again later.

I don't think so.

It's not fair or right to use children that way.

But beyond that, I don't know why the hell politicians think this makes them look better.

I want someone who is fit for the most powerful office in the world. Someone with ethics, but a stony disposition and decision-making process.

Showing me what a sweet daddy you are does not fit the bill. Sorry.

I don't want someone who comes off (or wants to come off) as "daddy" -- or "mommy," for that matter. Those people should stay home and play house. I want a commander in chief.

I've come to expect the "dog and pony show" that has become American politics anymore. They've been doing it for quite awhile with the catch phrases, photo ops and handlers. They're as much actors as real heads of state. I don't like that they do these things but it doesn't shock me that much. People want these leaders to be all goody goody, PC, smiling BS artists. Give them someone real with all the warts and moles and they would faint. Though this stuff using the kids letters did go a bit far in the phony bologna arena.

Of course you did... you think the Constitution and 2nd Amendment is funny.

It's how we got here. An ignorant, Parasitic Nation that Obama's Goebbels styled press can manipulate like a Gumbi... no other reason.

And they laugh...

I do too... when Gumbi Nation thinks others will pay the freight and Gumbi Nation gets it in the teeth. That's funny. You morons deserve it. The problem is the vast majority of your marzipan brains won't get it even then. You'll beg for more Central Authority.

Of course it was appropriate. This whole discussion of stopping gun violence and ways to do it has come from the slaughtering of innocent children at a school by a mentally ill man using a semi-automatic weapon.

it would be interesting to find out who instigated the letters though-I know my son wrote him noting that his dad (me) used a pistol that would be banned in NY to stop a mugging many years ago and that my son has been well trained in using the AR 15 rifle he shoots

I told him I doubt Obama would invite him to the Photo Op today

Arguing gun control with a conservative is much like conversing with a fence post....or a scared rabbit.
The Democrats should publish a position paper stating exactly what MOST of them want..
1 no more civilian ownership od assault weapons
2 no more gun ownership by the insane or "semi-insane"
3 complete 100% background checks
this is my idea of what the Democrats want.
I think I know what the conservatives/libertarians want...
a return to the 1600s.

I think it was highly out of line. It was a blatant attack. IMHO they should have found some kids that support the 2nd and encouraged debate.

I have a much higher opinion of the children (properly reared, of course) than the adults..
Converse with 5 year olds,
then talk with 15 year olds , compare the difference..
One thing that the NRA will not do is talk with any children in that same classroom !
Or any other room where children were murdered.
Maybe in 20 more years down the road we will finally have peace and no more 2nd amendment.
But with the tea bagging conservatives around , make than 200 years !

I know what you mean about those socialists using kids:

I knew this would happen... and I'd like to ask you in what context were these photos taken? Was it an assault on the Constitution? Was it even... something remotely similar in seriousness to The Patriot Act? Of course not.

Parasite Nation will do anything to defend their little King. What's beautiful is you expose your idiotic, socialistic selves with such blarney at every turn.

Obama has begun the process of killing the 2nd Amendment, and like a great Socialist, he employed children to accomplish the task. And Parasite Nation??? Run to his defense.

As you are.

I must admit, I used to think in a similar manner, and then I "grew up".
This takes time, and some obviously never do - sadly.

Ever wonder why our judges are so old.......

And, one would be correct if the observation of my parents was that they could think for themselves ...and be generally liberal.

Were the children "exploited" by our President ??

To an extent - YES - and, IMO , for their own good.

Which is worse...
An assault on the children
or
an assault on your constitution - a piece of paper written three centuries ago ???

Having kids at a press conference, or using them as political props, is done by every politician. Trying to make them evil fascists for doing so is plum stupid.

So the message does not matter, so long as the proper presentation is used? Some see past the BS and that 99.9% of the Obama "common sense" proposed solutions would have had ZERO effect on stopping/preventing the CT shooting. One must realize that this shooting involved an insane person killing a legal gun owner, stealing their guns and then committing a mass murder, followed by suicide as soon as armed resistance seemed imminent. Preventing such crimes require no changes to legal gun ownership laws, but could be accomplished by identifying and locking up crazy folks and providing better school/public security. This type of crime occurs about twice per year, on average, in a nation of 300 million people possessing at least 1.5 million AWs.

Kids are people too. I don't care if he used monkeys cause I never watch the BS.

Ignore, for the moment, that other politicians on all sides do the same thing. Is it appropriate... and by 'appropriate' I mean nothing in poor taste/judgment with it whatsoever... that *any* politician use this tactic for any reason?

I do not see it as inappropriate. No one is harmed.

In a sense that no one is directly harmed, I would tend to agree. We should be looking beyond what is in front of us at the moment. That no one is harmed, as a blanket statement, is incorrect.

Using an earlier example that I mentioned attaching children victim's names to bills is a perfect example of how people and society as a whole can be harmed after the dust settles. Due, in part, to the emotionalism of a specific child being a victim, we get laws like our current sex offender registries where people are placed for completely nonthreatening activity such as public urination of a drunk college student, the 18 yr old with a 15 yr old bf/gf, and so on. The emotionalism injected, in the form of objectifying children as tools or pawns, played a huge part in the resulting lack of common sense.

The entire Obama presidency could be viewed as a rash appeal to emotion. If the electorate had used reason and careful thought to select a president, Obama would not hold the office today.

One could make the same observation about the blatant propaganda Reagan used, pure emotional appeal. Or BushI as the follow-on, the clone of Reagan, which of course he wasn't. Then BushII who was Bubba, who many wanted to have beer with.

it isn't a liberal or socialist thing. it is a political thing. The right is just mad because they know it works, it has worked for them in the past. The NRA should have done the same thing, had a bevy of 'responsible firearms owners' surrounding the CEO as he made is more 'guns' in schools appeal.

Face it, the NRA and all are bungling this at every turn. they need an A game and all they can do is trot out the same worn threadbare rhetoric.

Reminds me of the McCain and Romney campaigns. New blood, and new tactics. Stop the shrill rants. need calm cool heads with a simple, embracing message. Now more than ever no more 47% moments.
