What is your greatest fear?

Creeping totalitarianism.

Right now in the USA there are over 2 million people incarcerated and millions more on parole or probation.

We have stop and frisk policies in many cities.

Exorbitant fines for minor infractions. If you can't pay, you go to jail. Sometimes over and over again. We've essentially brought back debtor's prison.

Hell, the government even confiscates people's cars for not buying way overpriced insurance. WTF?

It's especially hard on young people. They just can't get a break these days.

Give me a break. I'm sick and tired of people driving with no insurance. And I know two in my circle - young people who are thoughtless JERKS. If "young people" can't afford the supposedly over-priced insurance? Take the damned bus.

Oh, and for a "minor infraction"? Going to jail over and over again? What was the infraction? Stupid?

My biggest fear is an increase in stupid socialist liberals. The country is heading the wrong direction, but especially with respect to ethics and personal responsibility.

I'm a Realtor. I pay $700 for the comprehensive and collision insurance on my car through American Family Insurance. Can't afford it? Don't drive. My high premium is a direct result of idiots who don't buy their own.

And I'd say the same thing to you.

If you can't afford your comprehensive and collision insurance then you have the option of not buying a car that has some very slim chance of getting damaged by someone who can't pay for the damage.

Just don't go around telling other people that they have to buy something that they don't want.

If I had all the money back that I've been forced to hand over to auto insurance companies via threat of violence by the government I could probably buy a brand new Lamborghini, with cash!

You would have enjoyed being with me on patrol in Honduras. One night we were tailing a few unfriendlies and I walked between a couple of trees where a banana spider had spun a web. I'm talking head to toe web and just waiting for whatever monster made such a thing!

I don't "go around telling other people that they have to buy something they don't want." Our legislators have done that for me. Can't afford it? Don't drive. I'm not the one complaining.

I had the same reaction. my theory is that the aversion to the tail is at least in part evolutionary. it took a conscious effort on my part to get past it.

the first thing she did was to run straight up my sleeve at the pet store, and it about made me jump out of my skin. then she peeked out at me, and I knew she had a good soul. it did take me a few weeks to get past the tail, though.

You are complaining about people who don't want to succumb to extortion from the auto insurance industry.
 
My fear for society: Religious persecution and legislating of opinions/silencing free speech.
