Revolution would be the event where armed militia really mattered.

You may disagree all you want. Truth is that revolution is not a dynamic you engage in willy nilly, it's a serious effort to free yourself from an oppressive government. And you're never 100% sure what you're going to get on the other side, revolt is rather chaotic. All government is prone to corruption, and all men have right to defend their life, liberty, and property. The militia plays an important role in the servo of government. It's the trump card, the ace in the hole, it remains proper tool and duty of the People should the government err too long against our liberty and rights. It's necessary, else government has nothing to keep it in check and will grow and balloon and steal everything we had fought for.

The State overwhelmingly out arms the citizenry because they have long engaged in tactic to destroy the militia. Once that's gone, nothing stops them. Even in the old aristocracies of Europe, the peasants got to lop the heads off Lords and Kings should they oppress the people too gravely for too long. Government's desires have not changed so much since then.

This is something we all need to acknowledge and accept and perform. A well regulated militia is a necessity to a free state. It is our right, it is our duty.

The price has to be worth it, the cost would be devastating, and likely a huge loss. There is nothing here or in any foreseeable future that would justify such an act. Much of the talk today is hyperbolic. We're not China. And we don't want to be Israel. So, no, today, you better have another plan. You're holding on to something not particularly viable today.

There are not enough guns to confront the US military, nor is there the outrage to even suggest it would happen.

There doesn't NEED to be a confrontation. The mere fact that the citizens are armed, and could possibly fight back, keeps the government in check. They don't generally want the bloodshed that might come from trampling over the nations people.

And at that, take a look at history, insurgencies generally 'win'. No matter how big and strong the force they are fighting.

You mean like at WACO or Ruby Ridge?

Responsible owners shouldn't have guns taken away, I would agree with tighter gun restrictions if criminals wouldn't get their guns through black markets. I'm sure they'll try.

They got to find my *alleged* gun first. ;)

Ah, a piss poor attempt to deflect. Go figure.

Deflect, no. Examples where armed folks did not discourage. Go figure that you didn't rebut that in anyway.

Yes deflection. I mentioned insurgencies, not single instances of government overreaction. But you left insurgencies and the rest of that response behind to bring up something not in any way related. That's deflection.

No. An insurgency has to have a starting place. In many ways, those at WACO and Ruby Ridge were planning some type of removal from this government. Ended quickly. You speak of something that is not really viable in the country we live in today.

Yes, many people like to keep with the 'it can never happen here' mentality. They are deluding themselves because they refuse to learn from history.

The point is, nothing matters if it does. We won't beat the government. And our military can handle anything that comes. You'd be more relevant if you dealt with more likely problems.

And a defeatist attitude to go with it. Ah yes, humans are just screwed, if you are not part of the ruling elite, and the ruling elite determine you need to be wiped off the earth, just deal with it, your time is up. So silly.

You realize our military is comprised of citizens, with families that are citizens?

In my time in the military I never met one person that would follow an unlawful order to go after the citizens of this country. Not one.

If you were a politician and you were thinking about banning guns and supporting a law that would require the jailing of any person who refused to turn in a gun and you just heard that the 10 sponsors of the bill had just had their heads evaporated what would you do?

Exactly. Do you see it yet?

Evaporating people's heads is murder. They go to jail. The law wouldn't stand, and the murders will go to jail.

that would beat the government if those who wanted the law became too afraid to support it

that is what the second amendment is about

they can have mine, hot end first

Hell, you can do that by voting hem out, and you jump to killing them? And you don't see the trouble with your thinking? And you think killing people over a law you can overturn is a just act?

you didn't read very well-I was talking about a law that would jail people for merely owning a gun that might have been in the family for decades. gun confiscation would justify rebellion

1. No it wouldn't.

2. Such a law would never stand.

3. It would still be murder.

2. Such a law would never stand.

It doesn't matter if it stands a year or more down the road when it get's to the courts... they don't give back guns they already took and destroyed.

It won't ever happen. Can't really. But it would never, ever justify murder.

so what happens to all the people who refuse to register their "guns that make Cuomo the turd upset"?
